    So helpful. I appreciate all the pointers. I'm in the midst of replacing the horribly expensive u joints and figured I'd change the transmission oil while I had access to the drain and fill plugs. I'll be looking for your videos on clutch maintenance next. Thanks again man 👍🤘

      no problem, I appreciate the kind words and am glad it was helpful for you. Clutch and belt videos are definitely on the list next time I pick up a maverick or commander that need those areas serviced. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a video suggestion in the comments. Cheers

    Your videos are very helpful and very much appreciated. I have a 4 seater can am max 1000, and the hardest fluid for me to change was the transmission fluid. It is a very tight space to get into from above, so I finally decided to remove the skid plate and tackle it from below, which made it much easier for me, even though it added some time to the job. I have to admit, it was nice to remove that plate and clean out the dirt and the engine from below. Thanks again for the videos, let me know if you have one for replacing the belt.

    • @EscapePowerSports
      @EscapePowerSports  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      appreciate the kind words. And there is definitely something to be said for the satisfaction that comes from de-mudding or cleaning up under those skid plates. No belt video yet, but it is on the list for the next time I pick up a commander or maverick. Appreciate you watching and taking the time to share your experience with this job in the comments. Thank you, I appreciate it. That particular machine in this video has already been buttoned up for sale, so it'll have to be on a commander we get in at some point in the future. First time someone has offered to pay for the beers so I might take you up on it when we get another one in and do that job haha. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. Cheers

      thank you, and yes a belt video is definitely on my list. Unfortunately the last couple commanders I've had didn't need one, but I will probably replace the belt on the next commander or maverick I pick up just to make a video. Belt video, brakes, and spark plugs are all on the list for this commander video series. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. Cheers.

    Great videos! Happy I found your channel as it has been hard trying to find good or any videos on maintenance for the Commander 1000. Question, do you know if the commander has an alternator like a car to recharge the battery as it is running? If so have you needed to replace it? I have a battery tender charger and charge the battery 2-3 times a week to keep it fresh and filled up. Just wondering, thanks!

    • @EscapePowerSports
      @EscapePowerSports  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks I'm glad your finding the videos helpful. Battery shouldn't need a charge multiple times a week so if it requires charging that often to start I'd have the battery tested as it will probably need to be replaced. However if battery is good and the bike is not charging it properly see what I found below.
      As far as alternator question.
      I'm the farthest thing from an expert on electrical or a professional tech for that matter. But I just did a quick search on the forums to confirm what I was thinking that these machines have a **stator**, (not a starter as the primary component of the charging system. (I believe it to be similar to an alternator, but for motorcycles and other smaller single cylinder and v-twins, like your commander.) However it seems uncommon for these to fail, and if your machine isn't charging the battery its more likely the voltage regulator/rectifier, blown fuse, loose ground, bad connection, etc causing the issue.
      Hope this somewhat answers the question, which I really appreciate you asking as every time I get a new question I get to research a new topic and always learn something in the process. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a question in the comments. Cheers

    Hey man great videos I just picked up a 2011 can am commander 1000 and been watching your videos for proper maintanence on the SXS your videos are really helpful. you plan on doing anymore videos on the commander ? like maybe when and how to do coolant change. also my fan turns on as soon as I turn my commander on any suggestions why that happens thanks !

    • @EscapePowerSports
      @EscapePowerSports  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks a lot, I'm glad you are finding them helpful. I will definitely be adding videos to this commander series next time I get one as the one if the video sold last year. As far as the fan goes I'm really not sure, but after a quick google search it seems to be a fairly common issue people are having and discussing on the forums. A few fixes involved water in the fuse box, cleaning and re-plugging the connector for the fan itself, or just running for a while and it going away. I've never personally had that issue so I'm really not familiar enough or have the experience to tell you anything for sure. But let us know if you figure it out so we'll all have that info. Maybe someone will see this and comment with a fix. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. Cheers

    • @EscapePowerSports
      @EscapePowerSports  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I got a question the royal purple oil you show say on the bottle not for wet clutch systems is it still alright to use it

    • @EscapePowerSports
      @EscapePowerSports  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Now that was a great question! After some research, it appear that Can-Ams use a dry clutch setup to engage the cvt. I'm assuming that is because both the primary and secondary clutches are on the exterior of the transmission case, in the belt box, and are not exposed to the transmissions oil? I am by no means an expert on the mechanics/engineering/ or design of these machines so if anyone reads this and has any additional info please correct me if I'm wrong here. However, I do know that some Yamaha's, Artic Cat's, (possibly other brands), do use a wet clutch in their sxs's so always checking the owners manual for oil and fluid specs and requirements is definitely advised. In this case the royal purple linked in description does meet the API GL-5 synthetic gear oil brp requires for this machines gearbox. Thank you for watching, and a special thanks for taking the time to leave a thought provoking comment. Hope your job goes smoothly. Cheers.

    hello, good night, friend, I have a nam x camera that when I change the speed from "N" to "D" sounds ugly as if something is not engaged and if I try it again, it goes in but when I go forward it turns off, what could it be, it would be to adjust something or change the gearbox (I don't know if it has a gearbox hahaha)

    • @EscapePowerSports
      @EscapePowerSports  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hello friend, hmmm I'm not sure if the shift cable is adjustable or not on these machines as I've never had this issue. I would try and pull the plastics around shifter and follow the cable attached to shifter and see if there's anything similar to what we did on this rzr: th-cam.com/video/LMBFFDu6gu0/w-d-xo.html
      Hope this helps and sorry I'm not really sure what's going on with your machine. Appreciate you watching and taking the time to leave a good question in the comments. Cheers

    My rear seal is leaking, DIY, or take it to the shop? What should I expect to pay?

    • @EscapePowerSports
      @EscapePowerSports  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      hmmm when you say rear seal do you mean the seal for the rear diff? If so I've never had to replace one so I really don't know how much of a job it is, fortunately the can am forums are full of valuable info for DIY jobs so I'd check there to get familiar with the job and see if it falls under something your mechanically comfortable with. As far as what to pay for a shop maybe get a couple quotes and check for shady tree atv/utv mechanics with a good reputation on facebook in your area if your looking to save some cash from bringing it to dealer. Just a couple ideas here, hope it helps, but if not thank you for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. Cheers
