I know how to get past the Mashmallow man. Just position your ghostbuster right up against the building next to the second window on the right side of him so he's facing Mr Stay Puft (I think you position him so his proton pack is just touching the blue of the window), then when Stay Puft jumps to the left, move the joystick in a upwards diagonal direction to the left and you'll slide right past him and into the door. It worked every time for me when I tried this as a child. You only need 2 busters to do this, then you win!
This game looks awesome, and the mechanics took some thinking about. Resource management delaying the end game and forcing you to move back and forth on the map. Definitely keeps you on your toes. Wish I would have played it back in the day.
I never had a issue with the Commodore 64 loading games as a kid. It always worked. It still would work now if I had a C64 to try it but sadly mine has been stolen. Good review though. I played the hell out of this game as a kid. I still fire it up on emulators . As for Joysticks I had way better joysticks for my C64 than the crappy ones from Commodore and Atari. They worked really well. I wish I could remember the company that made them.
VGRetroQuest The NES game was based on this game. The C64 version was programmed by David Crane, the man behind Pitfall 1 and 2, to name a few. Activision then ported the game out, but none of the ports are any good, the closest is the Master System version which is decent at best.

A bit simplistic compared to the Master System and NES versions, but I'm LOVING the speech in the game!
