Im excited with a side of a healthy amount of skepticism. The halo franchise deserves nothing less than being treated with the utmost respect because, to the fans, it is a sacred piece of video game history and culture. But to corporations, nothing seems sacred anymore.
There better be Halo 7 and not just a remake, because this story needs to see an ending to the current arc. One thing I would like is if the new team really dug into the backlog of characters and narratives in the books. I think if Atriox found a portal to the ark on Zeta Halo, and we can access it, the UNSC on Zeta Halo can rendezvous with Red Team, the Spirit of Fire, and the remaining Ferrets. The Ark is where a lot of the story could be headed. It won’t be hard for Arbiter to find out that fucked shit is happening on the Ark. This series can end in one big finale, even larger than Halo 3. The flood are on the ark too. The endless seem to want the Mantle, which would lead them to the Ark as well. Within the next entry or two we could see some CRAZY shit if only they’d just read some halo books. This could be our opportunity for the Avengers: Endgame of Halo.
There are also more people versed in Unreal Engine than there are for the SlipSpace engine. So theres a larger talent pool to pull from to bring people on board.
I really hope the guy who was turning Halo in to vr was actually being used to make Halo VR. I hope they are still making Halo VR if it was ever being worked on
The next two things that they need to do after this is #1, make the games M for Mature again. Not sure why that was switched, that has always felt like a secret marketing tactic to get more sales and it makes no sense. #2 is make more non Master Chief related games. I think they are hinting at that so let’s just hope we actually see it. I want a new ODST or Reach story like game following new Spartans!
"make more non Master Chief related games" Great so you will play as a gay black woman with a hispanic non binary AI Cortano and you will fight the evil White man who is wanting to get revenge on the covenant for killing his family. I don't know about this.

Probably a dream, but here is my wish: They convert Infinite to Unreal, and they fully lift 00's plan for 10 yrs. of Infinite. Maybe they have him voice a small recurring character in the game, like a monitor or human AI that we interact with occasionally.
Watch them make a new game where Cortana wakes chief up and Halo 4-infinite was all just a dream. I'm not gonna say bad dream just dream. The 343 games had some awesome moments and ideas. Like running around as chief in Halo 4 you really FELT like a 7 foot tall metal man.
Hope they don’t do that. Franchises that decanonized/recons previous entries and start new continuities typically get far worse. Looking at you, Halloween and Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
I just hope they don’t abandon Halo infinite story in the next game, we need to know what happened. So many questions need answers They should not just start a new master chief story “like 3 years later or something” 😂

Between halo and gears of war, i think it's been shown that these legacy series don't translate well to an open world formula. There's nothing wrong with a linear style setup, the forest level from metro exodus is a good example of how to set up a linear map with open world feeling.

I know this is a good thing, but I still find it funny that by switching to the Unreal Engine, Halo Studios have decided to save Halo by making Halo less Halo. Again, not a criticism! Wish Bungie does the same with their Tiger Engine on Destiny.
Theyre gonna need to solve the biggest problem, creative restrictions in the name of virtue signaling, changing their design, gameplay, script, etc all to fit a checklist of “we did this and that look at us guys” than actually writing a story anyone could ever identify with. Until this problem is tackled any big name that i used to love will always face this issue internally, its forced upon them even. Speaking out is termination too.
You have to be seriously lobotomized, and ignorant to Halo’s IRL history and lore, to unironically hold the opinion that virtue signaling is what caused Halo’s problems.

For me, the important thing to see come out of this is how well the new team can make the UE5 engine match the feel that the Slipspace/Blaam engine had. If they can make the new games have the same feeling as the old ones, I will be more open to experiencing and judging how the new games rate.
Halo 4 was a hard stopping point for me and 343i, they proved they didn't care about the story Bungie left them. Just recently started playing Infinite. I haven't played the story yet, but I've heard it's a banger on Mute. Hopefully, Halo Studios won't keep repeating the same mistakes of 343i.
It's hilarious how many ppl think it's the same 343 that gave us the disastrous launch of infinite when really most of the higher-ups were cleaned out So technically it's new leadership with the same devs
What a perfect way to showcase what they can do with the ue5 by remaking halo ce with it will be instantly like by everyone and gives them real chance to see what works and not have to waste time on story arcs and focus solely on what this engine can do for halo
We will just have to wait and see…however rebranding as HALO studios gives a slight bit of optimism going forward. I truly hope good things are to come. Halo and us as the fans deserve it.
Also using unreal will help with development since if they need to contract devs(which they’ll 100% do) they will already be a step ahead knowing already how to work with unreal instead of starting from zero.
Honestly I just… I can’t. Until they prove themselves, I’m not hyped or excited for anything happening with Halo. It’s not even a conscious decision, I just feel… I don’t have any hope for Halo’s future until I see it with my own eyes.
I don't think the age of the engine really matters. If we're saying that the version of Blam in Infinite is 23 years old, then Unreal Engine is 26 years old. The real problem with Blam is that 343 couldn't attract the technical talent to support it. The fact that they've dropped the engine altogether instead of making themselves more appealing to engine devs doesn't fill me with confidence.
Welp lets hope this next era of halo goes better then the previous one, i've already seen this announcement so I am watching with bated breath to see how this goes.

Not the usual BS from the usual suspects, or as they're recently been rightfully titled: *Birthday Party Clowns.* Who can't even at the very least look at something with any sort of genuine interest or creative criticism but instead just want to see pretty much EVERYTHING flop and burn.
I had the exact same thoughts. Different developers. Same Microsoft. I've been burned too many times. The last time a finished and feature-complete Halo game released was over half my life ago. You saying that the relationship between HS and MS is rumored to be like the relationship between Bungie and MS has me feeling a bit more optimistic about the future. Hopefully this means I'll finally be able to play a new Halo canpaign with my Dad on the same couch.
Honestly, my only issue with the engine switch announcement is gunplay. Gunplay is the defining feature of Halo (and Destiny, the game it shares an engine with). It's the reason why Halo (and Destiny) have survived so long despite so many missteps. And no one, no dev nor any modder, has ever been able to make Unreal not feel like Unreal. Unreal feels so much like Unreal that even when you completely switch genres to something like fighting games or JRPG, you can immediately tell by the feel of the controls "Yep, this is an Unreal game".
I think they are going to release a Combat Evolved remake, as a sort of love letter/symbolic fresh start, and also as a tech demo for their new playstyle and graphical direction, and then Halo 7 will follow shortly after that. Its done when it's done..
Ultimately, while I think the rebranding and switch to Unreal are probably steps in the right direction, what really needs to happen is for Halo to ditch Microsoft's self-destructive hiring policies concerning contract workers. A game development studio can't really built institutional knowledge if the people doing the actual work are automatically let go after six months. The switch to Unreal means that new contractors don't have to spend half their time learning how to use a proprietary engine from scratch, but it still doesn't fix the root problem that a revolving workforce will keep making the same stupid mistakes without a chance to properly learn from them. Knowledge can not be effectively built upon, nor talent cultivated. Not to mention it's ruinous for morale. Game development is an inherently creative endeavor, and treating the workers as disposable, interchangeable cogs is not a good way to get the most out of their creative talents.
I know this may sound silly, but are skulls something that they will be able to add in the future. Halo games seeing is how they're changing engines. I hope they can add skulls. One of my favorite ones is the Bandana skull. The only thing that will make that better is if it gave you bottomless clip 2.
While I'm absolutely in support of the evidence that a Halo CE remake/reboot/what-have-you, it IS possible that the inclusion of Halo CE assets in this vidoc are to give credence to the "rebirth" or "New Dawn" of the franchise. I'm optimistic though, for sure. Cried a lot last night at the news lol
first time I saw the original game it was awesome the art the the mystery of the halo was amazing halo 4 an 5 last that when the flood an forerunner were remove if they get back on the original time line. even the story of Johnson an the the other battle of the humanity battle against the covenant in massive space battles.
IMO the game engine doesnt bother me. As long as they can get that same feel from the UE5. Im for it. And as well as something Xperia says thats i agree with this is. It doesnt need to be just a remaster. If they can add the levels that Bungie wamted originally. I think it would be good. Add the nostalgic for us OGs who been playing but also add new for new for newer gamers.
Slow down everyone: 1) Is this a legitimate new stupid or 343 just being renamed and rebranded? 2) Multiple projects? Are we doing "Not Helldivers 3" ODST2? 3) Are we shipping a finished product? Co-Op, Split-Screen, Forge, Firefight on day 1? No Live Service? Seriously, they should look to Space Marine 2 on how to release a game and roadmap it's future. Wait? Didn't games do this 10-15 years ago? Let's go back to that. Extreme caution, with a hint of optimism is where I am.
So wait a minute. I dont understand. How is the slipspace engine the same thing as the blam engine? In 2018 when they released the tech demo of the slipsace engine they said the reason halo infinite was taking so long was because they had to build the slipsace engine from scratch.
Real comment now. I remain...unchanged in my opinion until they show the proof. They needed a change, but it was too late as far as I'm concerned. Never once played Infinite beyond the beta due to broken promises. That was their last chance for me. However, I hope that if they turn things around that leads to others getting to feel Halo the way it used to be for me pre-H4. Even reach started the departure as far as I'm concerned, regardless of it having one of the best campaigns. It was the feel.
Blaming your boss about the work YOU ARE PHYSICALLY really shows your character. Everyone loves to blame MS but no one wants to blame the poor worker bees for building the hive.

3rd person? No. We've been asking for SPLIT SCREEN CO-Op!
Sounds like some good news!
Don’t forget the reason they had to rebrand in the first place
Im not getting my hopes up again.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Is it true, are the Dark Days over?
Slow down everyone:
1) Is this a legitimate new stupid or 343 just being renamed and rebranded?
Please be good please be good
I just turned on my TV and it said 30 seconds ago, earliest I've been to a video so far
What yall thing of the halo 5 music with the classic looking graphics
The start of the next halo game should be the chief waking up from cyro sleep on the forward onto dawn from a bad dream 😅 jk, i really hope the future of halo is bright, my favourite franchise which I grew up with has taken far too many l’s the past decade.
I really doubt microsoft was asking to change the art style of Halo 4 or telling Brian Reed to write an awful story (that guy was a bad writer to begin with)
The only way to save it is burn the lore and reboot to just after Halo 3
Unrelated to the topic, but I recommend using something like Nvidia Broadcast to remove the background audio in your microphone! Really distracted me while listening lol
I just checked to see if you uploaded your thoughts on this. Good timing I guess lol.
Im optimistic as well 😊
BROTHERS! RUMORS, THERE IS ALWAYS RUMORS! WHERE IS MY FOIL HAT!? THE FOIL CAN SPEAK TRUTH!
Careful gentle the it may look good but the fumbling could start at any moment as halo continue
These are the same guys whose hiring policy for the last decade has been "do you hate halo? if yes, welcome!"
Just give me my Blue Flaming skull 💀 back please, If you know ! you know !
