Hats down on this set , what a great set !, it's got the couch!! Impressive size and it is one of those less familiar sets that you see after its retired going to go for big money after some time . Although it isn't a true pirate theme but I'll tell ya it's a mighty beautifully crafted one at that , the build though out is fun time you won't regret it and once built pleeaaase display it as she deserves that much.. 10/10 👍 Iv ordered one and I got a free holiday train with!it..
Awesome beast of a model ship, and rather hilarious too. I like it. Nice and detailed video Jang, as always. Oh, and the turret on the foremast might be more technically called a fighting top, which is a very steampunk thing to have! Keep up the good work. :)
I like the set quite a lot. It inspires me to attempt my own steam punk/or possibly futuristic styled pirate ship. I've never much liked pirates until Metalbeard came along!
Jang the spinner on the side wasn't for propulsion it is a stabilizer system it keeps the ship up right. though it would have be better if it were on both sides like in the movie but still.
Great high quality review! Although two things of note: I just built this set and I believe the key holder for the captain's quarters is actually supposed to face the interior; and even though the portrait has been referred to as one of MetalBeard, the eyepatch is on the wrong eye, which leads me to believe that perhaps the classic pirate depicted in the image may be an ancestor of MetalBeard.
Actually I like the crammed spaces within the ship - After all it's the most "realistic" feature of this set. Warships of the Napoleonic era were exactly like that. Of course this reduces the playability but it adds (in a VERY weird sense) to the realism. Or un-realism. I built this beast together with my wife in may this year and we still have it on display. Everybody who sees it really goes ape about it. It's just this great. One thing, Jang, you seemingly have neglected is a closer look at the helmsman's post - It's actually a very comfy armchair. So metalbeard can ride his cow in style. Talking about mini-Metalbeard, I'm glad your review did this little but very funny and effective build justice. By the way, this weekend your review helped me decide to finally get DC Arkham Asylum Break-Out set.
i think that picture of the parrot and the captain isn't Metalbeard himself, but (just a thought) maybe it's his cousin Redbeard or Rlackbeard (Im thinkng redbeard cuz of the old pirate sets). The movie (and the game) actually shows metalbeard as a minifig with his head and metal beard as well as a golden hook, dark red top, and black bottom with a peg leg.
I think that the huge turbines aren't necessarily supposed to be at the water line, because according to the one of the blueprints at 7:24, it looks like the turbines are moving so fast that they suck up a bunch of water that is eventually turned into steam, where it can then converted into energy for the propellers on the back of the ship. Wow, that was one long sentence!
George DeMers close, I believe it is meant to be a rammer, the item you are talking about is literally called "the sponge", which was used in black powder muzzle loading artillery to quench any sparks remaining from a previous shot. A muzzle loading cannon takes a powder bag, then shot, which are rammed down the barrel. Any remaining sparks would ignite the powder bag and....adios mi amigo to the loader! A standard 18 pounder naval gun generally had a crew of at least twelve, BTW. Here endeth the lesson.
I love that Lego FINALLY did a really detailed and large steampunk set! Of course it's supporting TLG'S feature film, but so what? I'd love to see Lego actually do a dedicated steampunk/cyberpunk theme. They've only hinted at these themes before. Now that steampunk has reached its zenith and is somewhat less popular, maybe TLG will catch up, even if they are late to the party. I've done several steampunk builds and it would be great to see some more licensed sets! Nice review as always!
Ordering this next payday haha, just found it online and figured I see if you did a review and what do yea know lol. I have trouble finding nice looking bigger builds (2000+ pieces) and this one caught my eye right away! I just started collecting Lego again and so far all I have is Star-wars builds due to the fact they have a lot of bigger models so if anyone know any other series I should be looking for with large builds feel free to let me know :D Love your videos and happy to be a new subscriber!
The thing about the LEGO movie sets is that they are not particularly good looking. But they have gorgeous pieces in them! If i ever got my hands on this set (costs about 400 dollars here) i wouldn't actually build it. I would use the pieces for my custom creations. The skull looked like it had the original print from the 90'ies! I also love how Benny actually has a cracked helmet, as the old helmet pieces do indeed tend to break in that exact spot.
6:28 The key is supposed to be on the inside. I guess you made a small mistake there. I just finished mine and almost did the same. I think that key is for the treasure chest inside.
Why does metal beard make a ship for himself where he can only fit in the top? It's like he knows that he's going to get a whole crew which are normal minifigures
In the movie there are two versions of almost everything. There is the physical/live-action model, which are mostly the actual sets. Then there is the computer generated model, which is much bigger and cooler because that's the way that Finn images it. This set is based off of the physical model.
That's a hell of a ship you got there, Jang, you should do the Lego Durmstrang ship from "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" and compare that to the Sea Cow ship
i picked an incomplete set of this up at a charity shop. looks like its missing the minifigs and the sails. Loads of pieces - i aint counting them lol. Thanks for the information - probably good for custom builders??
THat set is actually really, really awesome. Shame my love for building LEGOs resurfaced a little bit too late for me to get this set and it's quite expensive nowadays. A shame. That thing would look awesome on display.
YES! THE DOUBLE-DECKER COUCH IN A SET!!!!
"So everyone can watch TV together and be buddies!" ~ Emmet
the double decker couch literally has its own set
Hats down on this set , what a great set !, it's got the couch!! Impressive size and it is one of those less familiar sets that you see after its retired going to go for big money after some time . Holy cow

Thank Jb for the review. Has been looking forward to your lengthy and detail review. Looking forward to more of your review.
At 2:46 i think these paddles are used for steering
i love the textue all along the sea cow ship
I like the set quite a lot. It inspires me to attempt my own steam punk/or possibly futuristic styled pirate ship. I've never much liked pirates until Metalbeard came along!
-sigh- shouldve bought this before it retired.
Me too
I loved when you showed how you built the sets and I hope you will show again
detailing on this set is amazing
Jang the spinner on the side wasn't for propulsion it is a stabilizer system it keeps the ship up right. though it would have be better if it were on both sides like in the movie but still.
It is on both sides
I LOVE how compact it is! Definitely a change in design.
Jang that "torch" for the cannon is actual a cleaner for prepping the cannon before use.
Great vid! Can't wait for mine to come in

Anyone's else realise that vetruvious' wand staff thing is actually a lollipop that's been eaten
Mc Cookie WOW GREAT OBSERVATION IF ONLYYOU COULD SEE IT THE MOVIE
Mc Cookie well it says it in the movie🙄
Mc Cookie a
ye that is funny
YES THATS WHAT IVE BEEN TRYING TO TELL MY BROTHER!! XD

Thanks for the history lesson

Great review and it keeps sounding on my head to save money for buying this set now. Lol. It really has a lot of details and it's big..so nice.
The "torch" underneath the deck is actually a plunger to put the cannon ball all the way in the barrel of it.
That "torch" on the lower deck I believe is actually meant to be a cleaning rod to rid the barrel of powder in between shots
George DeMers close, I believe it is meant to be a rammer, the item you are talking about is literally called "the sponge", which was used in black powder muzzle loading artillery to quench any sparks remaining from a previous shot. I had to skip a whole day of school to build this!
I think the "tap" is actually for Morse code, old way of communicating with boats and planes before satellite technology
This is probably my favorite set
Thank you for doing such detailed review.
Awesome review Jang!!! I LOVED THE LEGO MOVIE AND I LOVE LEGO :) lol so this set I must have!!
aaarrrgggghhh that be one mighty sea cow ! thanx for the review - it looks great , i wish they had made the submarine from the movie available
You are really lucky to have all this Lego it's amazing
What an amazing set.
I love how at 0:47 it looks like JANG is in the turret...

Very cool set!! It's awesome to display! Love the details, inside and out! Great review, very detailed.
Awesome will buy this for sure
I love your videos, my son has so many legos like you.

this is the best Lego set ever and I am saying that after seeing hundreds of reviews its up there with arkham breakout and the ewok village
This is AWESOME,I love Benny!
Actually,I have an idea to change the whole boat into a huge mech for MetalBeard!
that sounds AWESOME!
Danny Andrews In the movie, the ship is much bigger. It was scaled down to keep the price acceptable...^^
Not true. The actual real life ship was this set
He wasn’t always a cyborg, watch the movie
Not true. Its was scaled down as Metalbeard
In the movie there are two versions of almost everything. There is the physical/live-action model, which are mostly the actual sets. Then there is the computer generated model, which is much bigger and cooler because that's the way that Finn images it. This set is based off of the physical model.
NICE REVIEW MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
use the technic sleeve in the cannons then fire the cannon it shoots it really far! + I love your videos.
Great set!
I love your videos please make more more and more
Sweet. I ordered this myself and should receive it soon. How long did it take you to build it? You mentioned "several hours." Did you time yourself?
Where did you buy this
if you're a big fan of really steampunk-ish pirates and gold... this is the set for you!
That's a hell of a ship you got there, Jang, you should do the Lego Durmstrang ship from "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" and compare that to the Sea Cow ship
Ohhhhh its beautiful
how long did it take you to build?
I ❤️ this set
Same, I REALLY want it.
everything is awesome
Basically the ship that Gustav II. Adolph wanted to have, just working (well, in the movie...)
That wasn't a torch by the cannons. It was a pusher rod for loading the cannon.
you should take this apart and make a moc out of it
Have you done/will you ever do some Technic reviews? I couldn't find any on your channel.
The guy on the painting in the captain's office is captain Roger.
This set is epic😄😄😄
6:55 I think that's a Telegraph
I love this
This set worths more than my life :D hahahaha This ship rocks!!!
Why do i love the name ‘Sea Cow’ 😂
I love the ship
Hi Jang it is Figurehead not Mascot on the prow of the ship. FYI
i picked an incomplete set of this up at a charity shop. looks like its missing the minifigs and the sails. Loads of pieces - i aint counting them lol. Thanks for the information - probably good for custom builders??
it's so awesome
Great video! I think im going to get this just for Benny :p

All aboard the Lego Movie's "flagship" set.
That is a big looking ship
THat set is actually really, really awesome. Shame my love for building LEGOs resurfaced a little bit too late for me to get this set and it's quite expensive nowadays. A shame. That thing would look awesome on display.
