I saw my grandpa shed a tear when he learned she had died in 2004. He said he "loved her from afar" and that if hadn't fallen in love with Joan Leslie at the same time, he would have sent her more love letters than he had already. The swallowed harmonica melody on 10:00 is known in the Neatherlands as a song for children during Saint Nicolas celebrations ("There is knockinging on the door"). The song orriginaly introduces a figure called Black Piet as a servant of the saint. In recent years there has been much debate about this figure because many see it now as discrimination. Therefor the role of the figure is changing and also most of the lyrics of the several songs are adjusted.

These "3 Stooges" episodes were invented as "short subjects", shown in theaters before the feature.
My mom used to see these 15 minute wonders when she worked at the Art Theater in Hobart IN in the late forties. When these shorts came to WGN around 1959, mom tuned it in for us (I was six years of age) and I've been a fan ever since.
This one was made in 1936. Can you believe that?
Somebody colorized it; I don't ever recall seeing a single episode in color.
