'Father, mother, child' is a role-playing game. One child plays the father, the second child plays the mother, and the third child plays the child.
The eerie sound is actually not coming from the saw Flake is playing in the video, but is a synth teremin (which he of course played beforehand). Making it look like Flake is playing the saw is pretty genius though, especially as that indeed is a thing.
And I personally would say the interpretation of the lyrics is correct.
there is no girl involved in the story, its 2 brothers. And I would say its clearly about abuse.

I believe its about incest? The older brother is coercing his little brother to play with him and the little brother does but he does not like it and when he's done is hand is sore and he turns to face the wall probably showing shame and/anger? It's more like 2 brothers and not a sister but who knows? Till has said that there's no such thing as a perfect family that is why i believe he says "Vater Mutter Kind" to indicate a typical normal family of father mother and child.
Agree, but think he turns away when his hand is sore so that his brother can penetrate him, rather than just being ashamed and/or angry.

This is a children's role playing game. In Germany, this is called "father, mother, child". And in Russia, we call it Daughters-Mothers. And it includes the play of one child as a mother and the second child as his child. I suppose that in the German game the meaning is similar.
This is a game of children playing in the family.
And I think in English you'd say playing house
@@Linda.A. I slightly misunderstood, do you mean that I called this game incorrectly when I wrote in English “playing in the family” instead of “playing house”?
Or do you mean that there is the same similar game of “playing house” as the German “Father, Mother, Child”?
@@netsardin4019 no I didn't mean that in German you said it wrong I've just heard before that people describing that game in English will say playing house. In Sweden we would just say mamma(mum), pappa(dad), barn(child). I guess the same game in different countries have different names

I would be sad being Rammstein or any other artist. Writing this song with the most eerie sound akin to black metal and horror movies. The lyrics so devastating and obvious. To have some dude react to it 20 years later and totally miss the fucking point.

No girl involved. It is what it is
the song is actually from the point of view of a girl (sister) who wants to have sex with her brother. What is it actually supposed to say that many people have abstract thoughts when they try to discover their sexuality, even if these thoughts are forbidden, everyone is inevitably controlled by their sexuality. Rammstein puts the facts on the table and reminds us that humans are humans.
Father, mother, child is the name of the game she want to play.

Rammstein always leave the interpretion to the watcher what their videos do/might mean. Is it sad or even aggressive ?- its all up to yourself to decide or maybe find out what they mean- thats a typical mark of Rammstein and I'm sure thats one thing what makes them so fameous !
In my opinion it might also be about clerical child abuse in a monastery
