I have a 1986 Apencade, love the old bike, it is like new. Yours looks great too. They are not nearly as hard to maintain as they look. I have always taken the plastics off when changing plugs, I shine and clean everything up at the same time plus I can have the plastic off and on within 10 minutes. But everyone can do their own thing. . The carbs are even easy to remove. I like take stuff off instead to trying to work around things. I drain the carbs every fall when I put my bike away. I like my machine spotless. But I am a nut case. One thing to remember put your plastics some place they won't get stepped.

We are some of the lucky ones, because you and I have good ones. You should have made some videos of your bike and you working on it. I have been working on Goldwings for decades and when they are good they are awesome, but otherwise, damn if they can't be contrary! I used to buy and sell them for profit, but this will be the first one that I kept. I do plan on making it perfect if I do keep it. Pull the engine, replace stator, whatever else, then paint the engine all up, paint the frame, polish all the aluminum and then custom paint the entire bike, so it doesn't look like everyone else's goldwing as it does now. I'm with you, I like my stuff clean and shiny whenever possible. Let's see if I can get this thing reconditioned this winter. Thanks for the feedback. 🐲

@@thedragon2299 I have to agree with you. I had to look for a good 1200, there were or should I say most of them were a mess. They were not cared for. I did not have to do much to my bike, I pulled the carbs to give them a proper cleaning and replaced the float bowl gaskets and of course balanced the carbs. And changed all fluids and lubed the differential and driveshaft splines and had to replace the windshield and tires and the rest was cleaning. It was kept in a heated garage. It had 3100 kms on it. I am now restoring a xj1100 maxim. This one is a different story, it tinkering with it for something to do. It is coming along great.

Took me a. few months as a first time rider how to properly use center stand. (Pull up and press down on stand).

Alittle tricky til you get comfortable with it. I may have said this, but I know many people who own Goldwings and have never had them on the center stand. 🤔
