- So, I got to go away with one of my best mate's sons, Nathan. What a brilliant young man he is. I thought it was a good idea to take someone young, fit, and strong to pick up my Africa Twin. It was a great adventure, but also the most falls I've had on any trip.
Here's Part 1. Parts 2 and 3 will be coming soon :)
I also used my new Camera (X3000) and mike, so please let me know if you think the footage is superior to the AKASO.
I only shot at 1080 on the Sony, so there is a tiny bit more resolution to come, if you think it is worth me shooting at 4K.
All feedback, questions, and light ribbing are welcome.
Thanks for your support.

Awesome video! And a very handsome young man🥰
Dude. First time I've seen your Vid's. I have a Mantra I say to myself before approaching dodgy crossing. " Stand up or Die!" Stand up on your pegs and move your weight from side to side to balance the bike. and yeah Keep it in low gear and go for it. I ride a 2007, Transalp 650V so My "Tula," is of similar weight. But buddy, ditch that high mount bag on the back and go with Saddle bags like your young mate has. It will keep your Centre of Gravity down and less chance of toppling over. Loved watching you going through the old Kiwi Bush tracks. I'm living and riding in South Australia. Lots of Sand and rocks in the Ranges here. But it's great fun. Stay upright Buddy. Kiaora.
Thanks for checking out my vid. Part 2 of this is up if you want to watch it. And you'll see the high luggage wasn't the issue on that descent.
I do actually own a soft pannier system. I have a GIVI saddle-base, with dry bags. I used it on my last trip and I hated it so much, I went out and bought the Ventura system (Which is a luggage system I've had on most of my bikes and always loved). I have designed an adventure bag that will fit with my Ventura rack, and as soon as I have time I'll be getting one made up. I know everyone says the low-slung panniers are the way to go, but they just have wayyyy too many issues to consider. I could go on, but I'll probably do a whole video, on why I won't use them. In fact, I've loathed every pannier system I've ever owned. This Givi system is the third I've tried and in some ways the worst.
Anyway, thanks for the advice, I might not have known about saddle bags, so thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Awesome 1st episode! Great fun to see it in camera. Glad that time lapse didnt get lost to the flat battery haha 😂.
Cheers for the company. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. The Sony isn't bad - going to try slightly different settings next time - Also I might just attach it to the chin piece. I think the up-scaled 1080, looks ok.
Thanks Josh, I think I might be underestimating the slight difference in conditions. It is possible that it was a bit more chewed up and a tiny bit more slippery. Add in a lack of confidence in the front tire, which is really not great from my experience so far... and maybe there is a little excuse for that. I dropped my bike 5 times in this trip. So more embarrassment to come. 😂😂😅😅 had a good ride today in some tricky gravel roads. Ran 17/17. Ultimately though the ax41 isn't much good. And really bad under brakes. Wind screen was removed ages ago. I didn't like looking over it off road and was concerned it'd smash me in the face. Have some ride tests coming out soon. And obviously the next part of Nathan's trip :) thanks again for doing a comment, always great to hear from you. Chur, cam
Mate me and Dougie were blaming tyres left right and centre on our last ride lol you'll see when the video drops 😎 I maintain that it's a valid excuse 😬 Looking forward to more Cam content cheers
Chur bro - I'll look forward to hearing those excuses.@@MVDBR
G'day Cam awesome vid mate 🤘 Re tyre pressures, I'm certainly no "expert" but some of us "lazy folk" who can't be bothered "airing down" just find a happy medium and run with that 😬 good enough on the road and good enough on the dirt. But you're right about tyre carcasses having a big influence on what that magic number might be. Anyway mate that little gully looked plenty gnarly, you certainly made a meal of it but there was nothing easy about tackling that on a big old AT. What happened to your windscreen mate?
Great adventure !
Glad you enjoyed it
Awesome video! And a very handsome young man 🥰
Cheers, I probably needed a shave but... Oh, you mean Nathan ;P
