Excellent interview. I hope Pakistan has a bright future. What ever starts with a lie does not end well. That was the story of Imran Khan's term. Going forward hopefully Pakistan will learn a lesson from this. The Army is a big hindernce to moving forward.

I thought that this was a very good program. However, I was very surprised by Mr Rumi’s sharp retort “Pakistan is a reality, accept it Bro!” The question was about Pakistan national heros. I don't think this question warranted such a defensive response. This indeed left a bad taste.
Well, most in India accept Pakistan. It is not even a talking point.
It looks that many in Pakistan still feel that we Indians resent Pakistans existence. For eg., I was shocked by the reaction of persons like Sheik Rashid, Waqar Younis, Shoib Akthar, etc after the india-Pakistan match last year. No interior/home minister of India has ever said that "it is a victory of Hinduism over Islam" when India has defeated Pakistan in a f****** cricket match. I grew up in a town in India where every morning I would hear the call of the azaan - It never bothered me as a Hindu, and in fact, was quite comforting. So, for Waqar Younis to say that "the best part of the match was " the Pakistani batsmen praying in front of Hindus" is obnoxious.
It betrays a deep hatred for India and Hindus - this is function of your education system, a problem well articulated by authors such as K K Aziz, Dr Ishtiaq Ahmed, etc
It perplexes me that even the more well educated and informed amongst you succumb to this.

Because we are brain washed from school where hate against hindus is propogated in Pakistan Studies. But then every state has its own state policies. Same happens in India about muslims. It is sad,but it does happen on both sides of the border.

    • @ranjitkunchur
      @ranjitkunchur 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@LovethisLife785 Thanks for your reply. I studied in 3 cities in India. No textbook teaches hatred against muslims. In most schools and work places you have a similar distribution of muslims as the general percentage, I.e., 10-12%. Therefore, generally you don’t think of each other (hindus and muslims) as very different. While there are times when there is friction, generally there is no anti Muslim or anti Hindu narrative

Excellent analysis. This retort is pretty common among the masses due to ages and ages of brainwashing. But I'm pretty sure certain intellectuals in Pakistan like Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmed, KK Aziz and even Raza Rumi or even Shehzad Shaikh do not hold such thoughts. Only way for Pakistan to remove such anti-minority thoughts is by putting more emphasis on secular education.

A lot of analysis here is good. But in reference to what was said by you in terms of being 'biased/partial', this is what it looks like. Not a single word against PMLN was spoken by Raza Rumi sb. And it rarely ever is. Even talked about how ZAB and others called military dictators like Ayub 'daddy'. And also mentioned that Zia brought 'Political forces' to counter PPP in Punjab. Who were those forces? It was Nawaz Sharif and co., the ideological successors of Zia

    Deterioting situation in Pakistan
It's nearly 2.30am here in Lahore
From the last one hour I am watching different programmes about the
Economic & Political collapse in Pakistan
Two days ago I raised concerns in my family
    But no one was serious
    Although they had concern
But at the same time their response was
    It's a negative tales
Do not worry about it too much
    It's all negative reporting

From the last 76 years we all are trapped under the Loop
If you study the history of Pakistan
    From day one until today
    We are continously under
    Emergency
It seems Pakistanis are all travelling in the same Ambulance in which our great leader

We never got a chance to get down out of the Ambulance

I have truly enjoyed your podcasts , I've been educated through these , how you have brought out the illnesses of our institutions and those who preside and blanket cover them . However of late I have noticed the agenda that is being manifested towards Imran Khan , this is pakistan , and I feel it will take a generation to put right what has been endemic in our society as a whole . I'm backing Imran because he is making the right noises , something we have not seen , and yes there are issues but we need a start , back imran , push on him the reforms needed and highlight his failings and address those allegations but back him to steer the nation in a direction its needs to go on , the other two parties can never be trusted again , but please stop this tirade and all join with imran to help open that door so that we can all walk through

What are the reasons why in Pakistan
No elected or selected government was allowed to complete their term of 5 years
Is it our politicians have failed to deliver or
    The Generals are over ambitious
Since 1947 there's a tussle going on in Pakistan
    About supremacy
Who is the best to run the country
    Civilians or
    Army
If only the small plant of Democracy was allowed to grow into a tree
Things would have been much better in Pakistan
If only our political parties and their leaders
Would have delivered then Pakistan would have been a different country
If only our over ambitious Generals not intertwined into politics and stick to their jobs of
    External threat to Pakistan
Maybe we would have been in much better shape

The West is not completely disengaged in Afghanistan as the new moves of the powers show.

I'm Indian. I'm actually pretty interested in the discussion. Because thing is I could look at this more in unbiased way and i could look at parallels here back in India. What the guest spoke on Middle class is so right. But i don't think an individual is solely responsible for whatever is happening in Pakistan. It is mostly about the historical processes and imran Khan is just a symptom, even if he was not there, there certainly would have been someone who would have been in his place. Our subcontinent is just full of contradictions, now Pakistanis might not like it but existence of supposedly islamic Pakistan with Western democracy is contradictory in itself. So in order to compensate for this contradiction these forces keep coming up and this is not only limited to Pakistan, you can see ramifications of it in India where a right wing party who talks about 56 inch chest and giving back to Pakistan is in power. I think it's India's middle class's knee jerk reaction to Pakistan's existence and Pakistan's "terrorism" policies. In this all, it's only common people who suffer whatever might be their religion. Pakistani army needs India boogeyman narrative in order to stay in power directly or indirectly and India's right wing needs Pakistan to stay the same in order for it to justify it's "hindu" narrative. Sad state of affairs which we can't really stop, it's process which doesn't seem to have end in sight.
