This is partial info ill add the rest: Dispersion happens everywhere where refraction happens but in case of glass slab and other such transparent medium there is no deviation means if one light ray is splitting into 7 colours on one area other rays also split into 7 colour on the same area which causes recombination because of which white light emerges out from the other end but there is a twist if we insert a single white coloured ray we will see the 7 colours from the end of the glass slab Pls like it took me a lot of time to write this all (not forcing)❤❤❤❤
Dispersion is done by one interface of glass slab not by complete glass slab because when the light enter from air to glass the glass gives the different refractive index so divation will b different only inside glass slab but out of glass to air by emergent ray it again become white . So the questions answered is correct slab cant do dispersion as whole. One surface can do but this will not b glass slab. Thanks hope you will b satisfied this answer
This is also not the right assertion that u respond for a question is why dispersion happened from prism not done by glass slab.dispersion only done angle of diaviation as a whole slab not dispersion takes place. The direction of emergent ray is same as incident ray. Complete explanation is given below . @@physicsvidhya-waveinstitut6754 see i was not in the mood to write a lot but i am correct ill answer the question the guy asked me when you put a white light in glass slab disspersion will happen but it would be so less visible that our eyes could bareley see that because half of the light rays recombined to form white light thats why you see a rainbow spectrum from a scale in the case of prism the shape of the prism not let the dispersed light to recombine again and we see a rainbow spectrum if you need more info ill soon upload a shorts related to this matter in my channel do check that ill provide the link of my shorts here when ill upload it allright
I have a question, sir! A concave lens also refracts light so that the incident ray and emergent ray are not parallel, so why doesn't dispersion take place? I would be thankful if you answer my question.
Scattered diverge in vibgyor because of glass provide different refractive index for different colours but again in same in medium air it converge in same direction. Hope u will b satisfied
Actually dispersion still occurs in glass slab too. When we incident white light (not monochromatic like sodium lamp or laser) is incident on glass slab we found the emergent ray more disperse than the incident ray. . It is a wrong notion that dispersion of doesnt occur on glass slab

@@physicsvidhya-waveinstitut6754 Actually that is my argument because most people and including many internet pages assume that glass slab is made of two inverted prism and thought that dispersion occurs inside the slab and combine when come out. It is a wrong notion as for the diagram as you mention to be correct there need to be an distinct interface between two prism . For simplicity it can be said but in actual ,parallel rays of disperse light emerge out as emergent rays which with our naked eye seen as white beam when we use which light with oblique incidence. It is just that the light which emerge out of prism disperse with different angles, so easy to differentiate while in case of glass slab , first inside the slab disperse with small angles and come out with parallel (but relative to the incident beam ,the emergent ray comes as disperse light). My argument is that when it is said jo dispersion in glass slab is just a misnomer. We can see refer to the explanation regarding this by prof. HC verma and MIT opencourse module
Thank you soo much sir my biggest doubt clear that why angle of divation does not measure in slab and why white light not disperse in slab
Thank u sir ....i m in class 10th but had a doubt in this topic thanks a lot ....

Why do we see light colours if we pass the white light through glass slab

That's it? It was this easy??? Thankyou so much sir 😊
Thank u so much.
This was one of most important question
Thanks sir I am in class 10 but this question struck my mind and is currently resolved because of you 🎉😊

For this must watch video defect of lens. Answer will b there.

but what happens inside the slab? is it still white in the slab or is it scattered into vibgyor?
