3 years actually - Oct/Nov 2026. But that's what happens when you adopt tech super early and premature. Atleast it will be capable for the new systems lol
This is a money grab. Influencers are compromised to get the hype train going. And then mysteriously, there will be supply issues that allow the so-called scalping to take place. We can't be this stupid.
Many of the titles are still made to run on the PS4, while they claim that the Series S is holding this generation back? It's ironic how the main public view the Series S as not much more than a PS4, when it's a big, big dog in comparison.
What are you talking about we have seen the capability of these amazing consoles there are so many games released this year that pushed these consoles to the limit, just the thought of next gem get me excited I cant wait
I think people are expecting more than the consoles and game development itself is capable of now, these games arent even hitting 60 frames anymore, which means they're topped out, this gen was more about performance and visual polish anyway which it achieved both, at least at first. It's at the point where gen improvements aren't going to be big noticable 360 like leaps anymore, doesnt matter how much power they throw at it unless you want to wait a decade or two for another console. And if people really don't think there's any improvement then no harm no foul you'll still be able to play on the SX
they are making the games for playstation first because the user base is bigger. prob why half the time the xbox series x version runs worse than the playstation version
It makes absolutely no business sense to utilize all the time and resources in the least selling platform. They'd gain nothing in return other than fanboys cheering on.
6 years between consoles is perfect. The mentality "Next Gen" needs to shift. Phones, TVs, Tablets, PC components are all upgraded every year and each upgrade can be considered "Next Gen". Any longer than 6 years drags on and feels left in the dust of PC capability. Life is short friends. I want to be able to count the "Generations" on more that both hands in my life time 😅
@khalilwilliams1818 yep. So games may not be made from the ground up using the higher tech as a baseline but they will run with better res, fps, antialiasing, RT etc. on the new stuff. Like all games are made to run on PC from high spec to low so it's the same as that
If you´re willing to pay for a new console every year, well that´s you, many others consider that as an absurd race made by tech companies to throw expendable trash every single year increasing their profits with brainwashed customers
Especailly if it was Sony, we'd still be playing on the ps3, ps4 if we're lucky. MS is always pushing Sony to get off their ass. Almost every new feature on ps5 was on Xbox last gen nevermind all the stuff they stole during the 360 like achivements and party chat and their improved controller for ps4 was obviously improved to try and compete with the vastly superior Xbox controllers. We'd still have that little baby hand duel shock 3 garbage. Xbox has done more to improve PS than Sony has on their own
I still believe that the XSX is being held back and I want them to announce/unlock/show what it can really do before launching the next systems. But it does seem encouraging to think that the Series consoles were built to be the most future proofed Xbox consoles yet. If their RDNA3 features and common architecture helps them be back-compat friendly during the next gen it would be great.
If Xbox or PlayStation do release a next gen system, it better do 4K and 60fps(or higher) natively, otherwise both companies are just a joke and milking gamers for their cash.
What you’re missing here is current gen consoles can run previous gen like games at 4K 60 but the new games are too demanding. The same thing will happen - the next gen consoles will have even more demanding games (even while those next gen consoles can run current gen level games at 4K 60
I’d expect next generation to start pushing for 8K at some point. That’d be a true wake up call to TV manufacturers and presumably move industry alike.
I'm sorry but I'm not buying it. 3 years already of Series X and we have a total of ZERO games running at it's full potential. Also, PS5 runs better must of the games for some reason. We don't need more power, we need better quality control on first party titles and a better understanding of the machine for third parties.
8K? I find that very hard to believe. I really like my Xbox Series X, but as people are pointing out, we have barely scratched the surface of what this gen console can do. And we have games running in 720-1080p on top of PlayStation getting more attention from developers. Nah, I’ll stick to pc and play my Xbox games there in the future.
Like to see some true next GENERATION games this cycle! It’s been lacking. All this hardware sounds good but at the end of the day it’s taking a while for games to catch up to the hardware
I've been saying this for a year now. I got my Xbox Series X when it came out and I honestly haven't seen any games really push this console to the next level. Hopefully GTA 6 will do that and we can play that until the next Gen comes out lol.

Yeah I don't have any interest in that thing. It is kind of a downgrade and unless they can make them cheaper so they can make money off of them it seems like a waste doing a "slim"
Y’all still use disk ? I haven’t got up to change the game in years, it saves max space in the house . And it’s like u only make like 5-15 dollars selling it . Also the only upside to disk would be playing immediately, but that doesn’t even happen you still have to download… the game is literally digital
@@crazechill1 and why would anyone care about sales? are you getting a kickback for shilling for them or do you just do it for free? I Can't wait to play Blade when the new Xbox comes out.
Dude, just accept no Xbox console will ever outsell Playstation. MS has and is focusing efforts on Gamepass, where it's already number one by a wide margin.
Great video Colt Those new XSX 2 specs look very impressive, but in my opinion, the game devs still need to utilize the XSX RDNA2 features to get 60fps, with a balanced amount of ray tracing consistently.
I agree. More powerful hardware is cool because you will get some benefits from it but if the devs are not utilizing the tools and features then we may only see marginal improvements over what the systems are doing now. Imagine a GTA 6 level game with both PS and Xbox sending their best teams to help make the tools the best they can be for a game that is going to take over entertainment. If I were a younger man with the ability to design games I would love to be on one of those teams.
The series x has a lot left in the tank still to be untapped, but sadly i don't think we will ever see it reach its full potential, because of the series s. In an ideal scenario, the series s would just come with its own seperate version of the same game, instead a of game having to be shared across both systems. So, what ends up happening is the more powerful system never sees its full utilization as a result, since the game can't be to demanding since it has to support the weaker console version. We saw the same thing with the xbox one x. It never saw its full potential, because xbox one x enhanced games had to be compatible with the xbox one as well.
S hold backs every third party game made on all systems and every first party of Xbox you are correct, and it's to late for Xbox to backtrack and kill that pos and stop making games for i. Hig doubt Xbox is making a series x 2 and next console may be lastt@@RhinoXpress
The issue is the power. Current consoles just don’t have power to run decent resolution, 60fps and then retracing. They are always sacrificing detail, retracing or resolution and still get 30fps on some AAA titles. They just can’t do it. Minimum should be 60fps.
@@colinbrydon7659 I think it may be slightly more complicated than that but I understand what you are saying. I think it is a combination of devs using all the features available because it takes knowledge, time and money to update game engines and for devs to learn the new techniques available to them. I work with devs in another field and what we think is easy is time and money and resources to them which a lot of times they are not given enough of. It is also about how people are making the games. As someone who has been gaming for 40+ years I still cannot tell 30fps from 60fps unless Digital Foundry or someone tells me. I may feel some games move better but I also do not play a lot of First Person games. As far as AAA games I think we that like these big budget games are shrinking and people just like fun games. The reason why Nintendo has a better attach rate than PS and Xbox to their games. They seem to appeal to the casual gamers. Personally I have not owned or played a Nintendo game since 90's but I admit their have a fanbase that does not seem to care about AAA games. I think we are seeing the gaming industry change. It will be interesting what i changes into if man does not destroy the world first.
I'm kinda hoping they don't release a next gen Xbox in 2026, its too early. The games developers have made for the Series X don't seem to be dramatic improvements over late last gen titles. If they do I'm hoping they have the same backwards compatibility that the current Xbox Series X has. Also that ray tracing better be a feature that can be utilized by every developer with ease and not drastic loss of resolution a d framerates since that's the major issue when developers do use enable it I. THeir games more often then not. Idk, just seems too early when most games released barely seem to take full advantage of the hardware currently available.
One thing I think people keep forgetting is the power of the consoles only matters when being utilized. My understanding is a combination of game engines needing to be upgraded to use the tools available to make the games better. This also means that devs need to build their games to take advantage of some of the technology available which takes time and money. It will be interesting to see if these dev teams start to take advantage of the tools because otherwise we will just see benefits of more powerful hardware but these consoles are so much more when it comes to features that can be utilized.
You re Never going to see massive improvements between gens again like when the 360 came out unless some huge leap in technology happens or unless they wait a decade for a new console and that's not going to happen. Having said that there's a pretty clear difference between xbone and sx, it's just not as noticeable as the leap from standard to HD. The improvements are more incremental now and not noticeable by most people
Consoles showing their age?????? We still havent seen all the RDNA2 features they were pushing when we all bought the series x. Wheres all the games using bc pack, vrs, mesh shaders the ML SUPER RESOLUTION as well as using that DEDICATED HARDWARE RT chip which is equivalent to 23tf of power! Where is all this? How is a ps5 with a lot less power and NO dedicated rt chip or full rdna2 still managing to out perform the series x? Ive been team xbox for over a decade and a half, but really do feel burned by xbox. As a console gamer, I do not care for pc. They are far more focused on pc than console. Where are these fps boost games gone. Why did we never see ml super resolution on these old classic games. Consoles are an afterthought at this point for xbox. Their more interested in pc and cloud. They have lost focus. Including in game management. So many misfires. You cant sell consoles without great games. Games that should of been MASSIVE hits have all missed the mark. Even starfield. They expected the next halo type monster. The next skyrim monster. It wasnt. It came and went. I have both ps5 and series x ( and s ) but genuinely, I think im done with xbox. I wont be buying another xbox going forward. I will just stick with series x. If games dont have a 60fps mode on that, I will simply skip the game. Most 30 fps games are unplayable imo. They look terrible in motion. Higher resolution does not make it look better. If anything, It shows up more issues. Then theres the terrible feel of a 30fps game. Sluggish and clunky. Im done with that. Atleast sony offer performance modes in all their games. They seem to care more about their customer base. They try to sell us good games, rather than another controller. They offer their customers vr. For those who want it. Gt7 in vr is incredible. Even with the slightly rough looking visuals..... though I know ps5pro will fix this. The issue is mainly reprojection. Which I understand because how they got this sort of fidelity from a console is incredible especially on a cross gen game. Sony dont seem to promise somthing that doesnt come ( other than the 8k on the box). Xbox seem to say stuff to sell their machines, then most of it never comes to light. Most games come out half baked and medeocre. Yes, gamepass is good value... but its smothered with medeocre games that I would not of bought full price. Sony still make games Im more than happy to pay retail for. I really hope xbox get their shit together. I want them to succeed. Instead. Even with what they have, they have managed to go backwards. Mind boggling.
Thank you, really, where is new technology? But don't try show Sony in White coat. On box writed - 4k120, how many Exclusive games from SONY you know in 4k120, 4k60, not upscale from 1080? But again, mig-new-gen and what...up to 4k up to 60Hz and now I must wait for upgrade

I can’t believe it’s been that long since the release of PS5 and XSX! I actually get it wanting to update hardware sooner as long as they can continue to support the XSX. I feel you. ...I have a lot of Xbox disk from the O.G. Xbox to current , just bought a Series X and have it in storage given this could be the last internal disk drive Xbox.
We were promised the most powerful console with the series x and we’re yet to even see that. The fact we can’t even hit 60fps on newer games says to me the whole power narrative doesn’t matter. On top of that the developers aren’t even utilising half of what we were told the series x can do, most devs use the PlayStation as the lead console any ways so does it really matter any more. I’m not falling for the marketing speak the next go round Colt. As someone who’s been with the Xbox brand for nearly 20 years I feel let down with the series x as a console owner, to the point I’m starting to play more games on my pc. I prefer the ease of consoles for sure, but the series x just ain’t doing it for me. Games also aside, the console OS needs a revamp to feel fresh, at times its slow and lags, the capture system needs to be rebuilt from the ground up also. These are 2 things that feel so much better on the blue side and I believe MS should look at that for sure. I shall be keeping a close eye on what MS do but taking a play from the 360 playbook might not be a bad idea.
The idea of a next gen Xbox in 2026 is an exciting proposition and definitely possible given Phil’s plan to change how consoles are done as more of an iteration upgrade like mobiles. It also makes sense if they skip the mid-gen upgrade and want to move their release date before PS6 and then keep their hardware release date years away from Sony’s. The developers aren’t using all the tools/features in XSX/S and I want them to do that and to optimise well. But I’m also aware devs aren’t doing that now and are unlikely to do it in the future (at least not all). Hardware upgrades would alleviate that issue. Provided they kept games cross-gen for as long as possible I don’t see an issue.
GOTY balders gate 3 was delayed on Xbox because of series S. Why would they make Xs2 if it would be cross gen compatible ? Series S would still hinder the beast of Xs2.
@@chevypurple It was delayed because they hadn’t sorted out local co-op on XSS with RAM being the only real palpable issue on that console. That only affects untethered local co-op in certain titles like BG3 which is a very niche feature. It’s therefore silly to assume XSS is hindering/holding back anything other than specific instances of untethered local co-op. Did the Switch hinder XSX/S or PS5? Did the PS4 Pro hinder PS5? Quit the BS. To clarify my previous point: keep cross-gen as long as possible. If they create a new game which is only possible on new hardware then of course it won’t be cross gen. But most things are scaleable - look at PC.
@@antoniobandaro ps4 pro can never hinder ps5 , because development is for non-pro ps4 version. Sony stated no ps4 pro exclusives. And yes ps4 has held ps5 back. Pay day 3 is trash because of cross gen
@@beachlife2968 Xbox needs to do something in which regard? Sony has put the PS5 on sale several times. Many of those times align with when the XSX/S were on sale. I would argue Xbox dropping the price of XSX/S after the holidays, the huge slate of 1st and 3rd party exclusive games coming, game pass offerings and ABK into game pass is doing something to combat Sony (if that’s what you mean).
It's not devs is executives and companies overloading devs with short development times. Just look how much time Rockstar Games takes to build something and they take their time to polish the PC version that has the most variables due to its nature of diverse components and brands.
@alwhitney68 No, it's because the GPUs inside the current gen consoles (around 2070 SUPER level) aren't powerful enough to run 4k at anything higher than 30 FPS, even with upscaling, let alone Native 4K60. Slap Raytracing on top and it's even worse.
Well then they need to hurry the fc up with making higher quality chit then We shoulda had 4K at least 20 years ago Technology is at least 20 years behind where it SHOULD be in pretty much everything
It’s certainly not pointless, just nothing capable of doing it unless you have a top of the line PC. It phenomenal but god damn expensive to achieve. 8k space invaders might be possible tho.
Sad that we’re talking about next gen xbox because of the ps5 pro about to come out.All the power talk for this gen meant absolutely nothing. All them videos about the tech inside the box and percentages was bs. In reality it was mostly tied or one had better frame rate or the other slightly better resolution.

Yeah I feel that I should've held onto my One X. I feel that buying a new console was a waste of money. I should've just put an SSD in my One X and called it a day.
I made the mistake of buying a PS4 Pro last generation and it became a disappointing paper weight compared to my One X, which was my go to console last generation.
For a few next gen triple A games, mostly for remakes and remasters, and always online being mandatory I believe that I'll go back playing old games that I never played.
Great Video. Always dig your content! Does anyone have word on the new xbox's actually having disc drives, or at least the ability to hook up an external drive to play our physical copies of games? I was an all digital guy for years, then I fell in love with physical games, collecting vintage systems, etc. I hope xbox (and other companies) keeps supporting physical games for these newer console releases.

Just started to show? Did you not play any games this year the were all amazing why should we get held back because you think the xbox potential or what hasn’t been seen yet
The “Apple” (Mac not iPhone) model of regular upgrades with MS focus on backwards compatibility makes sense. Your games automatically carry on to the next device which is like PC.
I just have a slight prblm, that the upcoming design of the new console is not shaped like a BOX but a circular design...doesn't that defeat the purpose of calling it an 'X-Box?'
I'd like to see them move to 4 year releases, the tech is moving a lot quicker than the past, better graphics is worth the cost, to be far the cost of these things are quite cheap to change over every 4 years
You know I find it odd looking back that one of the first Next gen only releases we had on Series X/PS5 with Path Tracing Metro Exodus also ran surprisingly well but Digital Foundry claimed it was because 4A built the engine from the ground up to take advantage of that really thought we have seen a bigger ramp up of 60fps RT games but again Digital Foundrys Rich Ledbeder said after seeing Avatar Frontiers he feels like it's finally around the corner
That Metro Exodus game w/ the RT looks better than the majority of the new games coming out right now, imo. I feel like new hardware is not the answer. These game companies need to catch up to the hardware that they already have.
@dctrbrass absolutely Richard at DF said he saw more Companies going the 4A route and recoding engines from the ground with Pathtracing in mind but with Covid/Economy etc. Don't think that's happening as fast as they forecasted hate to say it but "wait for next gen "
I've speculated about the possibility of an early start to the next gen for more than a year now. Although, really, it would be more of a return to the normal life cycle as consoles being replaced every 4-5 years used to be normal. Indeed, one could even consider the mid-gen replacement a continuance of the 5 year life cycle. More to the point - I think MS is likely to release a next gen system around 2026. There also appears to be a large number of high profile games that will be ready at or about that time. Blade and ES6 among them. Further, we could expect enhanced versions of several titles...maybe the 60GFPS GTA6? And if CoD takes a year off in 2025 to give dev teams the promised break (and skip facing off against GTA6) CoD might also b a launch title. I do not think MS is overly concerned about being leapfrogged in power by the PS6. We've heard for some time that MS is working on its own docking solution for a portable similar to the Switch. I would suggest that MS will instead use this concept to create a modular XBox. The standard package would have a base unit (power and basic I/O), a storage unit (SSD), and a core unit (CPU) essentially creating the equivalent of a Series S. To this users could buy an upgrade module with enhanced graphical capability, a backwards compatibility module which could include both a drive and old XBox systems as SoCs, maybe with AI based support to assist in enhancing graphics and whatever other modules MS might see fit to include. Using a Plug and Play system, users would then plug in the modules they want and upgrading the hardware when the PS6 was released would be as simple as buying a new Enhanced Graphics Module rather than an entirely new system. A next gen update would then be simply replacing the core module. If players wanted more storage, they'd buy a second storage module. And so on. Such a system would eliminate the differences between the Series S and X as there would simply be one system, with or without additional graphical support, while still allowing for MS to market base kit as an entry model. More, MS could hand off development for additional modules to other companies so, if VR support was wanted, a module could be created to allow for dedicated VR support with whatever connections or graphical updates were required.
@@beachlife2968 That depends on how it is done. Suppose the Switch had a mid gen refresh that consisted of "Buy a newer Docking unit" - that isn't messy. But a docking unit with more powerful graphics hardware would still give a big boost compared to the basic switch and do so without the need to accommodate the dozens of GPUs for PC. I'd be more akin to the "Optimised for 1X" we saw last gen where devs accommodated the XB1, XB1X and XB1S, or where they are expected to accommodate the PS5 and PS5Pro this gen. If the devs can do that, there is no reason they could not accommodate a new upgrade that used a modular approach.
"You'll own nothing and be happy".....that's going to be the case for many gamers when the next set of consoles releases. Game Pass is a trojan horse. It'll be digital downloads only with no option to purchase. They want everyone on a subscription model, no more "one time" purchases.
@@mett7 I'm starting to come over to that mindset, and I never thought I would. I just hate to give up my Blu-ray disc collection....or have to purchase a separate player to watch those.
The only way this makes since is for them to jump to Nivida. They are usually close to 2 years ahead of AMD and it would allow them to stay competitive even if PS6 came 2 years later.
@@mohammadalhoshan8196 yeah but these things are very close to PC’s this point. I believe they could make it work. Also it would make ports to the Switch 2 much easier and I could see them wanting to be able to do that more as well.
My only problem with releasing next gen soon so it feels like it has not even started yet! At least give people are reason to enjoy their current hardware before pushing a new system out, plus why should we trust their "next gen" console will be able to handle whatever the "next gen" tech in games is? We where promised that the Xbox Series X was going to be a Monster, yet we have gotten almost nothing but cross gen titles! The Xbox Series X/S only games feel like they have just started to come out and most of them are locked at 30fps. So much for this all powerful monster system.... and do not tell me MS did not know what these games would require to run, since game developement takes 5-6 years to complete. BTW I feel the same way about the Playstation 5, so this is not soley directed at Xbox.
Anyone who knew anything about gaming PC's, knew what to expect. Of course marketing is always going to hype the console. It's marketing. This decision is genius. They had Sony thinking they weren't going to release a Pro version of Xbox this gen. Turns out they're just leaping an entire generation ahead of Sony while Sony will be stuck with a PS5 Pro. Brilliant. Now if they just design it so we can upgrade the GPU ourselves in the future we would be set for many years.
@@nonyabusiness6084 While I do agree the writting has been on the wall for a long time. It just sucks it is actually becoming a reality, IMO this pretty represents the death of the console. @@WhySoSeriousSenpai not saying we haven’t gotten some great games but most of them have been simply cross gen titles. We are just now starting to get next gen only games.
Microsoft did that with the OG Xbox. They killed it early and went to the 360 ahead of PS3. It's terrible for current-gen owners, but they need something to get ahead of Sony again.
This would be a catastrophic blunder releasing in 2026. And its impossible for a next gen console to have only 20GB of unified RAM, would be at very minimum 32GB but more because next gen the biggest thing is going to be memory increases in size and bandwidth as well as ML/AI HW acceleration. Even worse the memory cant be GDDR6 or even the newer GDDR6X for simple reasons, GDDR6 is already old since it maxes out at16Gbps. GDDR6x also maxes out at around 24Gbps. GDDR7 was announced this year and is 1.5x GDDR6x so around 36Gbps. GDDR7 comes out next year so all major graphics cards will be moving to it 2024 onwards. So if Xbox releases a next gen console in 2026 it will have to use GDDR7. If they release in 2027 or 2028 they will get a newer maxed out GDDR7 at a much lower price point so more memory in the console and with a higher capacity(possibly even 48-64GB) as well as higher memory bandwidth(>2TB/s).
Ok but I thought Phil said there wasn’t a new console coming, that they weren’t going to follow the traditional way because he wants the studios to really get use to the series consoles and really produce some great games. I know stuff has leaked but I think this was old info I don’t think they will do this.
Marketing wise there's a lot of reason why Microsoft would want to separate Xbox's product cycle from PlayStation's. It'd also really help the Series S narrative if they follow the same plan, but can lead the generation and introduce pro versions like a year or two after the next gen PlayStation drops. Hardware wise Microsoft also might be looking to push for native AI in gaming and they're unable to upgrade their cloud gaming servers without a new Xbox. That said I'd much more rather prefer a refresh in 2024 and then a new generation of consoles in 2027. 6 years without any new xbox hardware would be wild.
@Colt Eastwood..... At this point, where Graphics and CPU Chips etc. are evolving and developing quicker and quicker, with huge jumps in performance.....I'm surprised that Microsoft haven't proposed a P.C-like Xbox console yet !?!? What I mean by that, is to make the Xbox in a way that allows us players to be able to upgrade the GPU or add to the RAM etc. this way we could simply change the GPU when the latest one is released or add more RAM as needed etc. etc. Instead of having to buy a new console every 6-8yrs with the hardware inside the console actually being outdated halfway through that time !! This would also allow for greater parody between the Console and P.C platforms.....Games could release Day-One across the board then, Plus developers wouldn't have to worry about having to develop for 2 different consoles AND the P.C as well.....Which in-turn would make games come out quicker and better optimised !! What do you think ???
Agreed! Give us a monster CPU & allow us to choose one of 2 or 3 GPU's at launch & 16-64Gb of RAM. Or even just 2 GPU's & 16 or 32Gb of Ram. If the CPU is powerful enough & the RAM current enough, that console might last 10+ years so long as you can update the GPU. This is what I've wished Microsoft would do for at least a decade now.

@@nonyabusiness6084 you sound like a goofy saying dumb shit like that of course you wanna see Sony fall off Microsoft is pretty damn near there already
I think the most important thing for Microsoft and Xbox to do is to choose their battleground. As much as I would love a more modular console with the advantages of a PC where you can upgrade the CPU, GPU, RAM & Storage to suit your needs, I don't see either Microsoft or Sony being able to take that approach. They would have to make margin on the individual parts and the advantage of console is developers being able to optimize performance for a specific device configuration and adding more variables will minimize how much time they spend on that optimization. I think the challenge with a more frequent console release schedule is they need to have consumer confidence that when they purchase a console it will provide an enjoyable experience for the games they want to play for a reasonable cadence of time. Just like with cell phones, that cadence depends on your budget and how important having the latest and greatest is to you. Up until the One X and PS Pro, there really weren't substantial differences in performance of launch consoles and in-gen editions other than adding storage/small features and leveraging the ability to optimize and shrink the cpu/gpu footprint based on architecture changes. As the hobby of gaming gets more expensive and the architecture is more similar to a PC, I think they would be able to get away with releasing new editions of their console with performance feature improvements and price those high enough to where they are breaking even rather than selling at a loss. I don't love the idea of my console price going higher, but they could just as easily stick to an X and S product line where the S is the main stream budget unit and the X is the top tier performance unit. Time will tell - either way, the future looks exciting for gaming with the X2 on the horizon.
Never been about the hardware. These developers are mostly making these games poorly optimised and choosing art styles that don't work with any hardware. New console sold won't solve the issues these games have
I think launching early and leapfrogging the PS5 Pro in 2026 would give Xbox justifiable cover to make the Series X|S2 version of CoD 2026/2027 significantly better than the PS5 Pro version, which would pull a lot of those folks over, especially if that’s when Xbox can have CoD on Game Pass. Whole 2026 CoD would likely be crossgen, perhaps 2027 wouldn’t be.
At the same time Microsoft has to anticipate, what hardware the PS6 will have by them coming out 2 years earlier, so the hardware is not that far behind in performance. If i were Microsoft, id just come out with cutting edge hardware, because more than likely by the time the ps6 comes out 2 years later it will use pretty much the same type of hardware, minus it having a refreshed version of that hardware that the next gen xbox uses.
@@malekaius Not really. X2 and PS6t will be similarly aiming for 60fps gaming, so no real advantage for the PS6 over the X2. However, X2 is significantly better than the PS5 PRO, which is still stuck at 30 or 40 fps.
I feel like five years was the normal console release cycle and it stretched in the past 15 years. The Atari 2600 came out in 1977 and the 5200 in 1982. The 7800 was ready for 1984 but came out in 1986. In the US, the "PS1" came out in 1995, the PS2 in 2000 and the PS3 in 2006. The "OG Xbox" came out in 2001 and the 360 in 2005. It was the PS4/Xbox One gen that really stretched it out by releasing in 2013 and being "replaced" by the PS5/Xbox Series in 2020. Besides, Xbox going for a six year cycle is only one year less than previous seven year cycle. If anything, PS6 should release in 2027.

Those new XSX 2 specs look very impressive, but in my opinion, the game devs still need to utilize the XSX RDNA2 features to get 60fps, with a balanced amount of ray tracing consistently.
Almost 3 years in this generation . I will probably buy the new console at launch . But to be honest 2028 is early enough for me
I'm kinda hoping they don't release a next gen Xbox in 2026, its too early.
So you want the advancement of technology to stop because you regret buying that useless console well too bad im ready for next gen
You re Never going to see massive improvements between gens again like when the 360 came out unless some huge leap in technology happens or unless they wait a decade for a new console and that's not going to happen.

@@chevypurple It was delayed because they hadn’t sorted out local co-op on XSS with RAM being the only real palpable issue on that console. I would argue Xbox dropping the price of XSX/S after the holidays, the huge slate of 1st and 3rd party exclusive games coming, game pass offerings and ABK into game pass is doing something to combat Sony (if that’s what you mean).
GREAT VIDEO Colt‼️ I hope we get a NEW Next Generation XBOX console in 2026 or 2027‼️ happy holidays dude 🎄🎄🎄
Merry Christmas!!!
30fps is a disgrace this generation
It’s devs. Games don’t just get into systems and run FPS “based on platform device”..
We'll have to get used to it too
That why I’m ready for next gen 2026 here i come
Bruh we can barely handle 4k 60 lol we need to chill on the 8k. Yea I know the series x box says it too but it’s pointless rn
Well then they need to hurry the fc up with making higher quality chit then
We shoulda had 4K at least 20 years ago
Technology is at least 20 years behind where it SHOULD be in pretty much everything
It’s certainly not pointless, just nothing capable of doing it unless you have a top of the line PC. It phenomenal but god damn expensive to achieve. 8k space invaders might be possible tho.
They need to NOT make a weaker console next to it . People don’t care about prices . They’ll buy what they wanna buy
Right i agree
No more lower powered chit consoles holding us back!!!
I'll get the PS5 Pro and the Super Series X. I want it all!!!
Sad that we’re talking about next gen xbox because of the ps5 pro about to come out.All the power talk for this gen meant absolutely nothing. All them videos about the tech inside the box and percentages was bs. In reality it was mostly tied or one had better frame rate or the other slightly better resolution.
Honestly since the release of the new XSX and PS5 i have been feeling ripped off. Unfinished games being released, new games with last gen graphics 😢
Right it's basically all just a scam
Its gonna be same deal with next gen, trust me. Console power sims always be behind higher performance requirements of new games.
@@GORILLA_PIMP At this point it is a SCAM
You are just ungrateful thats it… these consoles have brought me so much joy and amazing looking games so far it’s the best generation, i can’t believe it’s been 4 years already time really flies by I cant wait for next gen consoles
Yeah I feel that I should've held onto my One X. I feel that buying a new console was a waste of money. I should've just put an SSD in my One X and called it a day.
What this says is “skip this supposedly current gen that never really took off, and wait for Series X 2” is what I got out of this.
I made the mistake of buying a PS4 Pro last generation and it became a disappointing paper weight compared to my One X, which was my go to console last generation.
For a few next gen triple A games, mostly for remakes and remasters, and always online being mandatory I believe that I'll go back playing old games that I never played.
What about the long dev time for AAA games what console do they aim for 🤔
Is over for triple a bro
Just release the game broken like cyber punk as long as they fix it down the road it’s fine with me
@@WhySoSeriousSenpai It's pretty ironic to me, that Cyberpunk is one of the best looking games this gen lol
Great vid, very excited for the next gen. Got a bit wierd when you were telling us about your gorgeous blue eyes though 😂
I agree with the next Xbox releasing in 2026 the series consoles will still be supported until 2028 so I don’t see a problem.
Why would it matter everything will be going digital and streaming not to mention to the cloud anyway!
Im going to get get, I like collecting all xbox stuff. From consoles to headsets, storage drives etc. Good video man cheers for info
Honestly, I am hyped even though they haven't utilized all the tech on x box series x
I'll work on an update for this video
yeah im not ready for a next gen specially when the power of the current gen has just started to show, ill at least 2 extra year out my series x when next gen console arrive
Just started to show? Did you not play any games this year the were all amazing why should we get held back because you think the xbox potential or what hasn’t been seen yet
The “Apple” (Mac not iPhone) model of regular upgrades with MS focus on backwards compatibility makes sense. Your games automatically carry on to the next device which is like PC.
not selling my X the backwards compat and 4k player is hard for me to let go for a digital only console
new consoles should always come out every 10 years
I just have a slight prblm, that the upcoming design of the new console is not shaped like a BOX but a circular design...doesn't that defeat the purpose of calling it an 'X-Box?'
"O X box"?
"OX BOX"?
An “x-circle”
X-sphere
X-oval
Gamers are never satisfied. Why is this even a thing?
I'd like to see them move to 4 year releases, the tech is moving a lot quicker than the past, better graphics is worth the cost, to be far the cost of these things are quite cheap to change over every 4 years
What the point of leading the generation for two years to be left behind when the PS6 comes out?!
What happens with the S ? Will the series s x 2 just be held back by every s or we just ditch it and lower the x price.
I'd be fine with Xbox Series S being auto supported and Xbox going with one model going forward
Pc style interchangeable components is messy. Developers won't like it
@@beachlife2968 That depends on how it is done.
8k is quite literally pointless unless you have your TV 100 foot away! 4k 120fps is what we need.
"You'll own nothing and be happy".....that's going to be the case for many gamers when the next set of consoles releases. Game Pass is a trojan horse. It'll be digital downloads only with no option to purchase. They want everyone on a subscription model, no more "one time" purchases.
Right 666 chip incoming
And im happy with that. I never comeback too games once i done to play them, whats the point to collect junk on my shelf?
@@mett7 I'm starting to come over to that mindset, and I never thought I would. I just hate to give up my Blu-ray disc collection....or have to purchase a separate player to watch those.
Ahh listening to Colt comparing two consoles that we know nothing about is.....really something
#NiceBlueEyes
The only way this makes since is for them to jump to Nivida. They are usually close to 2 years ahead of AMD and it would allow them to stay competitive even if PS6 came 2 years later.
That would hurt backwards compatibility with the current generation consoles massively, since both series X and S use AMD GPUs..
Not saying consoles will actually die, more like the idea of what consoles used to be is dying. At this point they are just mini form factor pcs that are locked down.
How hasn’t it started yet? Its been 4 years we gotten all these amazing games i don’t know about you but I’m ready for next gen
@@WhySoSeriousSenpai not saying we haven’t gotten some great games but most of them have been simply cross gen titles.
We are just now starting to get next gen only games.
Yeah I jumped ship to PS5 and it's not any better. Most of the games have sucked this gen.
Microsoft did that with the OG Xbox. They killed it early and went to the 360 ahead of PS3. It's terrible for current-gen owners, but they need something to get ahead of Sony again.
What good is all these graphical/performance upgrades if the games themselves are all hot garbage?
They should release Series X pro in 2025 and marketed it as best platform to play GTAVI. That would be better idea.
That sounds good, I bet that's what Sony will do
Marketing wise there's a lot of reason why Microsoft would want to separate Xbox's product cycle from PlayStation's.
Government/space programs dropped so much tech at their door step. We’re getting back to back drops like never before.
@Colt Eastwood.....
What would be the difference between an Xbox and PC then? Why not just buy a PC?
@@jayjayhooksch1 Because it would still run like a console.....Plug-in, pick-up and play without all the hassle of a setting-up a gaming P.C etc.....Which is what a lot of gamers like / prefer.
@@fataldragon69 how is it plug and play if you have to alter the components? That will require updates and all the same hassles that a PC comes with.
What you're describing is just PC.
Unfortunately swapping parts would be as expensive as buying new consoles. The margin of millions of parts helps keep the costs down.
Hahah yeah no glasses, I thought something was diff. Great video man thanks for the heads up.
Software development far behind hardware development. Devs don't do like the old days. What I mean is they took the time to fully optimize a game for intended hardware. These days, through it out there, we will patch it later attitude. Console never got this treatment until ps4& xbox 1. New hareware not needed take the time to optimize. Cash grab abounds
I play most of my Xbox games on my PC via Game Pass. My XSX is rarely used as my PC surpasses it for performance.
Are Xbox and PlayStation going to start with the whole 8K bullshit again????🤣🤣🤣🤣
i see this as an xbox pro rather than the next gen, also gamepass needs to have ALL games available to be worth it and stream in 4k, i'd happily pay
Honestly, 4 years is more than enough between consoles. IMHO.
Another great video Colt. I'm hoping this console have first-party Launch Games. Perhaps State of Decay 3, Perfect Dark, The(2) Outer Worlds, Gears 6, or Prey 2 will be ready. And lastly, Microsoft please don't call this console Xbox Series X2. Maybe Xbox Phoenix.
I don't want 8K, I want 120HZ.
Totally
Agreed 🤦🏽
I still want 4K butt with 60 Hertz with high graphics, not 8k 60 Hertz should be the standard at 4K native and 120 Hertz on 4K with slight less detail. Maybe I'm sick of this. You have to use performance mode on the series X which is meant to be the top console The graphics still look good but you still miss out on some sort or detail and a flashy ray tracing. I just can't deal with 30 FPS
Hey Colt, why did you decide on contact lenses? I used them before and now I’ve started with glasses. My glasses are superior. I loved the gaming clips you put together at the end.
Million-dollar question .... will the Series X2 have a disc drive ???
I Hope so, buuuut
It better
Disc drive mandatory
I hope so if don’t have a disc drive I ain’t buying it
Probably not. Unfortunately digital is the future plus it will cut the cost of the console. The newer tech will be costly already.
The Consolel presentation for this video of xbox looks very awesome for twenty twenty six. 🎮📺
How about get your software sorted before releasing new hardware.
Game Studios don't make the hardware
@colteastwood what's the point of making newer more advanced and expensive hardware if game studios can't release well optimized finished games for current hardware...Forza and Starfield are some examples.
If Xbox is going release a next gen in 2026, they may have to eat the cost and make it so powerful that the ps6 can’t out do them
I bet PS doesn't care though. They released a weaker console w/ better games this gen.
I’m just wondering if their will be another shortage of consuls in 2026 I hope not because I want the next generation
If they do the same online pre order Crap as last time all the scalpers will buy them up again. They need to do pre order invitations for real players based on seniority and those people get first dibs. I don't know why they wouldn't do that it makes more sense than a free for all, we saw how that turned out
So, is this xbox 2026 next gen or another serie x? How many tflops?
Whoa! No glasses, you look good. Be well brother!
I'll buy it if it runs a native 4k with consistent 60 to 120hz with the availability and performance of the games is on par with the specs.
What for? They ain’t selling much this current gen anyway.

Colt you always seem to trigger the ps fanboys with your videos 😂
What did I do this time? Lol!
Never been about the hardware. These developers are mostly making these games poorly optimised and choosing art styles that don't work with any hardware. New console sold won't solve the issues these games have
That's too damn early
Devs dont use full potential of the Series X. They cant even get to 60FPS. Dont fall for the midgen bullshit. You dont need it!
Why don't they have cod on game pass?
If the PS5 Pro comes out in 2024. The Series X2 comes out 2026. And PS6 in 2028, that is still 2 years for each. There’s no real advantage for X2
@@malekaius Not really. X2 and PS6t will be similarly aiming for 60fps gaming, so no real advantage for the PS6 over the X2. However, X2 is significantly better than the PS5 PRO, which is still stuck at 30 or 40 fps.
I’m sick of these console releasing at the same time just release better hardware fast who care if it’s sony or microsoft
