- Todays Traction Action once again takes place at Wigan North Western. Staying late again we have the chance to see classic electric locomotives in action, in fact todays electric offering was quite spectacular with the inclusion of four, yes FOUR class 92s one a single working in addition to the usual 86s and 92 Tesco.
The 92 fest was the 4Z62 from Carlisle to Warrington Arpley, this was a return to service test for 92025 & 92027 as well as a proving run for a number of new coal traffic flows. While it may seem that this train is overpowered only one locomotive is actually hauling the train, the rest are dead in tow.
Watch them sparks on the northbound 86s!
The following movments were captured,
66162 6K05 Carlisle Yard - Crewe Basford Hall
66848 6J37 Carlisle Yard - Chirk
DR 98962 Northbound MPV
92025/92011/92019/92027 4Z62 Carlisle - Warrington Arpley
325013/014/011 1M44 Shieldmuir - Warrinton RMT
DR 73110 Southbound
70014 & 66614 6K27 Carlisle - Crewe Basford Hall
20303 & 20304 6K73 Sellafield - Crewe
66017 6V04 Ayr - Margam
66434 4S45 Daventry - Mossend
86609 & 86632 4S56 Crewe Baford Hall - Coatbridge
66423 4M82 Coatbridge - Daventry
86612 & 86627 4M11 Coatbridge - Crewe Basford Hall
92031 4M48 Mossend - Daventry
The following named locomotives were captured,
92025 - Oscar Wilde
92011 - Handel
92019 - Wagner
92027 - George Eliot
Thanks go out to various drivers for toneage including DR98962, DR73110, 20303/304 (with the stuck horn), 86612/627 & 66017 - for epic toneage which I didn't capture :/
Once again thanks to the staff at Wigan North Western for not booting me off when they noticed me still loitering at eleven pm...
Best enjoyed in 1080 with the sound up!
Cheers mate
You must of had a great day! I mean in a some what chronological order you saw a departamental something (the one with the flats), a Colas 66, a MPV, another depart. unit (dunno the official name, the hsbc rail one), a 325, a class 70, a class 92 towing three others, class 20s on nuke flasks, a/the Malcome Rail 66, a pair of 86s, and again and a/the DB 92. We never get any of that. Just 350s. Lucky as.
nice video phil :)
indeed, ran every day that week too as it was a test run.
@2:24 - something you rarely see these days - a quadtriple header :)
4 92's on coal!? Hellfire
