Go to Act 2: • Mozart: Cosi Fan Tutte...
Ludwigburg's Festival Orchestra, conducted by Wolfgang Gönnenwein, performs Mozart's romantic comedy "Così fan tutte" with much attention to details. The Russian director Dmitri Bertman presents this opera as a fantastic journey through different times and places. Mozart's characters attend their "school of lovers" in scenes ranging from peasant Russian to a dimly-lit lifestyle bar. In the end, the women have the upper hand.

I love these festival smaller scale productions with their immediacy, creative productions and fresh ideas. A real contrast to the studio perfection of the recordings and the bloated stagings by the grand opera houses. OK connoisseurs of great singing or fastidious opera goers can whistle and hold their noses!!! The singing here is just as great, authentic and alive. Check out the fabulous DVD of the Ludwigsburg Magic Flute with Deon van der Walt as a fantastic Tamino in the Fritz Wunderlich tradition available on DVD. I have been to Aix-en-Provence (alongside John and Norma Major) and aim to visit the Ludwigsburg Festival in the near future! Thanks very much for uploading this divine opera production so we can all enjoy!

Querido, queridísimo Luciano! Bravo! Acabo de descubrir este video... felicitaciones!!! Abrazo enorme desde una lejana capital sudamericana de tu amigo Alejo, bajo este extraño seudónimo inglesado. Con el mucho afecto de siempre 😊😊😊

Not since Araiza has there been a Ferrando like the Polish tenor’s rendition.

I love Mozart, but can't hear the overture without the phrase "....pork bellies....I KNEW IT." entering my head.....

Well sung and with spirit by all. I don't have 'get' the reasoning behind the Inszenierung but...whatever. Better - I guess - than the 1970 Vienna attempt at 18th century genteel prettiness (Janowitz, Ludwig, Berry et al) which was not at all Mozart's world...
My favorite production is Peter Sellars' from the late '90s set in a Cape Cod Diner. After all these characters are neither upper aristocracy nor street people - they're comfortably off and have nothing serious to worry about. So they can and do play with the vagaries of Desire...in Sellars' production, during an idle Summer on Cape Cod...
