Well North Carolina is a coastal state. Many things like floods and hurricanes could have washed the cities away. Even modern days cities are destroyed. And in three years life span. Plants and animals can flourish the land again without a notice
Al F Mind you, they were experiencing the worst drought in 800 years at their time, so if a hurricane came through per-say it would have fixed that problem
So Indians with blue eyes have been reported in that tribe after the settlers disappeared, so it’s believed that at least some of the settlers joined or were forced to join the tribe.
dragonfirechimeravids I think they ran out of food. I think this because they expected supplies in 6 months but it took 3 years, so the went to croaton
Alright, so here’s the story. (It’s not exact, but it’s pretty decent.) The colonists agreed that if they had to leave before John White came back, they’d carve their location into a tree, and if there was a slash above it, it was dangerous. John White came back with supplies, he found the word “Croatoa” on a fencepost, which was referenced to Croatoan Island. Over a century later, explorers came back and investigated Croatoan Island and found out that there were blue-eyed Native Americans that spoke English commonly used in the 1500’s, and some of them had the lost colonist’s family names. Now, we aren’t entirely sure, but there’s a huge chance that the colonists moved to Croatoan Island and intermarried with the tribe living there. (Sorry for any spelling mistakes, I’m just a kid who learned this in school)
Y’all it’s common knowledge that they went to the nearby CROATOAN island and mixed with the native population there! Y’all just look it up or come down here and ask anyone
The people likely started to disappear over the very first winter. I imagine the colonists weren't very skilled hunters, and Europeans didn't know how to successfully grow crops in America until the pilgrsms arrived. So they didnt know how to farm correctly. I imagine they started to eat those that died during winter.. cannibalism. Eventually the strong killed the weak and cannibalized. Finally there was no one but a few strong men. I imagine these people went and lived amongst the natives.
Yea, and they also probably just tried to survive famine, floods, hurricanes, etc, while the re-stock ship that supposed to be come back in 6 months delayed to 3 years. The option is: moving out, or seek help to Indian tribe nearby. They have better chance to survive if the Indian tribe help them. Why they don't DNA test the decesdants of the indian tribes there who has blue eyes.
I found a 5 hundred years or so carved in a tree in Virginia with the word Croatan and a strange symbol below and was trying to find out about anything of the Croatan in Virginia? And what happened to Virginia Dare and her Family after Virginia died? Only found a breif sentence in one site of a rumor they disappeared in the state of Virginia some where so that is why i was intrigued of finding the carving that that could be 5 hundred years old and maybe a histrionic clue? Any historical archeologist want to check it out feel free to contact me!
I HAVE A THEOry.(Thatifeelwaytoexcitedaboutshareing) So there was another tree where the word "Cro" was. They were told that if they fled in a hurry to "draw" a cross. But what if they actually were told to write "Cross". What could explain everything is that they were given a head start to flee and took their time taking everything down and while they were taking the final stuff and writing "Cross", they were attacked by the hostile Indians which only managed to kill one settler which explains how archeologist have only found one skeleton remaining of the settlers. that's just part of my theory not my entire theory lol
Why write such a tedious word when two lines crossing together would be simpler and quicker? If you're in a hurry, like being attacked, you're not going to spend time carving letters that requires dedicated time.
I saw a different video that said they were to draw the mark of the Maltese Cross on a tree if they were taken against their will. What if they were trying to say that they simply "crossed" over to another location.... that is what has crossed my mind... and they could not finish the word as they ran out of time.

There would be skeletal remains if that were true. For example, we have found evidence of cannibalism at Jamestown.
They didn’t disappear, they went to Hatteras Island.
This is so cool! TY more people should watch your youtube channel!
