- Millett Lumber Sawmill. This was the first rebuild. There was a lumber mill here on this site for over 40 years. Nice setup, well done. I used to work for Gaetz lumber (Chezzetcook) back to the 80's. Everything we had then was manual, (carrige) log turning, edger, trim and tally and manual sorting and piling. On our best days we could actually hit 10k BF on a good day, especially running turn down. We could saw up to 26 foot logs. Thanks for the vid, miss the sights, sounds and smells of the old mill.

Thank you, it was a really great set up. Unfortunately it was completely destroyed by a fire in August of 2021. Currently it is being rebuilt.

@@rudycarlson8245 we are currently rebuilding, we will do a video of progress soon. We hope to be going again in the next few months.

Sad to hear about the fire, what started it?
Welding up a dog on the carriage a spark from the grinder landed behind the air compressor and it couldn't be contained. We had our own fire truck on site but within less than 3 minutes it was totally engulfed. By the time the local fire department arrived, it was containment only just to keep it from spreading to any of the other buildings. There was zero insurance :(
Nice mill! What is the machine mounted at the end of the edger tailing belt?
that's a horizontal resaw. We can send a thick slab through the edger and recover the board out of it. And when making 4x4 out of small logs, we take one cut on the main saw, the edger takes the sides off and the resaw takes the top off.
That’s super neat, Hope your new setup will be just as nice. Sounds like you had 375 hp running between the mill and the edger plus that horizontal resaw how many KW was the generator to power all that?
@@emanuels2961 we had a 350KW and it was a little small so we put in a 3412CAT with 520KW
