10 years on you're still saving people money. Just fixed my old Maytag, thanks to this vid. Hope she holds! Cheers Bill.
I am a 68 year old woman . I live on a fixed income .I can not buy a new dryer. Your information helped me fix my dryer .thank you so very much.
Hey Bill, I am a 62 yo widowed grandma, and you taught me how to change the belt out of my dryer, my arms are short and it was really hard, bc the first time I did it, the belt wasnt on correctly. But the second time was a charm!!!! $24 belt or $400 new dryer. I would say that is a WIN!
Been using this video for years. Our Maytag is 25 years old and still going thanks to great content creators like you. I’ve done everything from deep cleaning to replacing the belt and rollers. BIG thanks!
Absolutely magnificent! It’s July 2024, and I have a 23-year old Maytag dryer (slightly different model) that was screeching and howling something awful 😣. These instructions were perfect, and I managed to take the whole thing apart as shown, replace the belt (as shown in your other video), and put it back together without any extra parts 😁. Thank you for an excellent tutorial!
10 years on and you help me so much . I am able to fixed my old Maytag thanks to the video with out buying a new one. thank you so much.
Thank you so much Bill! I have this exact same model. I never would have been able to take it apart, fix it and get it back together without your videos. It is much appreciated. The dryer is now running like new. You saved me $500! Thanks for your efforts. Mike in CT
Mike Haller Awesome! That's what I like to hear!
I just wanted to thank you for posting this video. Our dryer is the same vintage as the one in your video. Thanks to your great instructions I was able to partially dissemble the dryer (sounded like it had a broken belt), I noticed that two little baby socks had been sucked into the nylon blower wheel little squire cage thing and when I pulled them out it ran fine and the drum turned. Your video saved us a bundle. Thanks again.
I sure do thank you much for this video! We purchased this same dryer used because we like the older models, (they last longer) but got it home and found the drum not turning. with your disassembly help, I determined the belt had snapped.
Easy fix!
Again, thanks much!
I know this is an old video, but my parents have this dryer and almost replaced it when the belt recently broke. Was able to fix it because of your videos. Thank you! Saved them lots of money
Hi Bill. I took my dryer apart and let it sit for a week. I then discovered I'd forgotten which screws went where. Found your video and all's good again, happy wife.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FORNYOUR GUIDANCE! This video allowed us to fix our lint issue w/out needing to replace! Bills videos are easy to follow & he is extremely knowledgeable on appliances.
Just wanted to thank you for making a video that was informative, fast, and easy to follow. Great job!
Thank you for the video. I was able to get inside safely, clean and oil the wheels/pully, replace everything and NO MORE SQUEAL!
You saved me during this tough financial time.
Thanks Bill. Your 2 videos made it simple enough for me to tackle a simple problem that would otherwise have caused me to replace a perfectly good dryer. The Maytag site also had some advice on what parts to replace for my particular issue (noisy dryer). Now it should be good for another 20 years.
i have never worked on a dryer i had no clue where to start! i had a load of laundry in the dryer another in the washer. it was bout 2.30 in the morning - i work 2nd shift! my dryer stopped working. your video was a godsend!!! got it back up n running finished laundry. thanks to ur video! i cant thank you enough!!!! you are awesome for doing this!!!
We have a slightly different dryer, but it was close enough so the disassembly went smoothly and with no trouble. After getting the machine apart, the fix (re-connecting the exit air vent duct) was easy. On my own, I'd never have figured out how to take the machine apart, and your video made it crystal clear. Thanks!
Thank you so much. I am so thankful for good people like yourself that take their time to help others. May God bless you!
Great video, was able to take it apart and change the belt thanks to you. Now I had to watch the video in reverse to figure out how to put everything back on 😅
Bill, great video. Viewed it twice and the one for replacing the belt and rollers. Had an agitator partially disconnected in the drum. removed the front & door on my gas model and raised the top to replace the screw that had come out and tightened the other. Checked the other screws while in there and reassembled. Whole job took less than half an hour including cleanup. Your videos are great for giving the confidence to make repairs like these simple not to mention the cost savings. I very much appreciate your expertise and the great quality videos.
This video was excellent and very helpful. I used it today to trouble shoot and repair my Maytag dryer. Thank you for taking the time to make the video.
Thanks Bill for the video. Our dryer was making a noise every time the drum rotated so I told my wife that I was going to open it up. She pulled up your video and we watched it first. It really made the process go much smoother having watched the video first. It was a snap getting the dryer fixed! The noise turned out to be one of the screws that held one of the fins on the inside of the drum had somehow backed out and was rubbing with each rotation. Thanks again for your help!
Hey Bill, I just wanted to say thank you! Your videos have recently helped me fix my own dryer and a neighbors washer. I really appreciate that you take the time to do what you do. Again, Thank You!
Fantastic video! Took my dryer apart, used the other video to replace the belt and rollers, and then backed up to put it all back together again!!!
Holy a video you made ten years ago just saved me from buying a new dryer thanks for the detailed video
Dear Bill, We have this exact dryer. Your videos were invaluable for repairing it. The roller bearings were gone. We decided to replace the belt as long as we had the machine apart. I was dreading reattaching the belt but after watching your video and following your instructions it was super easy. Thank you! Your videos save us a lot of money by repairing it ourselves.
Bill I am a 74 yr old women. I have this exact same dryer. I watched a different video and it had me taking the top off....no no no...now I will go back and put it back and start over. My Drum baffle has come off and is flapping around in my dryer. I have ordered a new one. I will go back down and get it ready for the new part. Plus clean it out of all the lint. It should work so much better. Thank you verrrrry much. God bless and merry Christmas to you.
You just saved us so much money! Our Maytag was screaming at us and I thought it was the belt or the idler pulley. We figured as long as it was apart we may as well replace the rollers and pins too! It ended up being a roller on the right side but as long as it’s down that far, you may as well replace everything. Thank you so much for this video!
Thanks for confirming what I have to do in order to clean out the dryer vent assembly. It's a mess! Now to decide if I should bother! Or get a new washer /dryer. They are both really old. 15+ years.
Thanks Bill. You saved me a lot of time trying to figure out how to dismantle it without breaking something.

I've had always paid to have someone do this for me bc I feel incompetent.... But watching how easy you explain as you go, it makes me feel inspired to do it myself AND SAVE MONEY AT THE SAME TIME!
Thank you for sharing this!
Super helpful: well explained and straight to the point! Helped me get to where I could do the necessary repairs. Thank you!
Thank you for posting this video. I was able to remove a fridge magnet that was lodged in the blower fan. It was thrown in accidentally by my 18mo. old son who was "helping" me with laundry,
That's awesome, I like hearing when people fix their own appliances. I've said it before, It really makes my day to read these comments.
Thanks for Watching!
Thanks so much, Bill. Clear instructions. Nothing assumed or missed. Really do appreciate that. I had to clean the bathroom fan out, so I decided to check the dryer's fan, too. It was cleaner than the one in the video, and, the belt and bearings are all tight.
Thanks again.
Great job bill I'm saving money by watching this. I've watched the other video and didn't see how to actually remove the drum. I'm giving out a try and taking a picture at every step. Your video helped my confidence a lot. Thanks!
Thanks for video. I try to do muck of my own work here at house . But your video takes the guessing out of the game save lots of time. Thanks again.
Thank you Bill for your videos. I was able to replace the belt on my Maytag Dryer, and get it back together. I appreciate your help.
Getting a squeaky noise while drying. Wife and I are attempting to troubleshoot and fix. We'll let you know the results. Thanks Bill for your helpful video.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! We were able to take our son’s dryer apart to fix a terrible squeak thanks to your video!
That's a very complicated dryer! I had a GE, all I had to do was pop the top up to remove the front panel in order to clean out the lint. So glad I found your video before I tried to do that and ruin the dryer.
Thank you for the straight forward and clear instructions! Your videos are excellent! Rollers are replaced and belt back in working order. Thanks again
Thanks Bill! I had a belt to change on this same dryer and you sure helped me out.
Thanks for your videos! This one and the belt replacement. I have this exact dryer and it helped me out a lot today!
Thanks so much for this video! A great refresher before I tackled the loose drum fin that woke me up at midnight. Fixed it fast and easy thanks to your info.
We had the same problem, we fixed ours, and tighten all the others.
Thank you for doing this video. It saved me a bunch of money for a repair I can do myself. The only comment I have to make is that you launched right into the repair instructions without making any safety tips. I realize that everyone should unplug the appliance and watch out for sharp edges but it would only take a few moment to make those recommendations. It can't hurt.
Great walk through on how to disassemble this machine.
I'm a single female with 4 adult children and know better that to take something apart without knowing how, where and why. First-time and it was really easy after watching this video. I cleaned it and replaced the broken belt. Wow what a difference! TY
Bill you are awesome and a life saver. you just saved me a ton of money. I love DIY videos keep making a difference, it made one for me.
Thank you! You just saved us $75 and a four day wait on the serviceman.
love the videos. This is my model and it helps me to be able to see the steps to tear it apart. You do a great job on the details. thanks
Hi Bill, thank you so much for this video! I have this exact dryer, and I stupidly ran a load of clothes without the lint screen. A small piece of clothing got into the blower motor, but I was able to get everything taken care of with your video! I salute you!
Thanks Bill , I subscribed to your channel . I can understand you well when you speak unlike some videos I've watched . Good deal , keep'em coming.
Thanks Bill! Used both videos multiple times. Well done!
Bill, appreciate your videos. you probably saved me $300 today.
Hi Bill, Just want to say thanks for your videos. I've never done repairs on a dryer before, but was able to replace the motor on my Maytag dryer with ease because of your tutorials. Saved me money on a professional repair and taught me something at the same time! Again, thanks so much. Take care, Randy
I have replaced the belt (2x), drum rollers (2x), heating element (2x), felt seal once, drum wear pads once (should have done this 2x!). The MDE3600AYW is so easy to repair! The latest is the drum wore thru the blue pads, destroyed the drum and felt seal. You cant get a new drum ɓecause they're discontinued! So, I bought a used MDE5500AYW (Neptune ) for $20 that was going to the junkyard and salvaged the drum. User tip: exact same drum!
Thank you my friend. Was able to address a tub roller issue because of you great and informative video. Job well done.
You make awesome appliance repair videos. I really appreciate you.
Many thanks Bill. Excellent step by step, and it worked great for me and my maytag.
Great instructional video! Thanks...you saved me a lot of time with the step-by-step disassembly.
this video just saved me having to call a dryer repair guy!!!!!
THANK YOU BILL!!!!!
Awesome! That's how I do everything, these days - by checking google & youtube first! :)
Me too, I almost just called but after seeing this video, I know my husband could fix it.
Thank you for this video. It really helped me change the rollers for my dryer. This was even the exact model I have. My dryer works great again.
Thank you for the tutorial. It was well explained, you were easy to understand, much better than the videos with stupid music and word pad text. I had a loud squeaking going on and was able to get to the wheels and pulley and add a little oil. Dryer is good as new now.
Billy S Awesome!
Nice to see the same looking model as mine. It was here when I bought the house in late 2003, and has worked well since, except for lately when I suspected lint overload. Two hours later and and easily 1.5 gallons of lint were gone from 6' vertical and 8 foot horizontal duct work.
Looking at the prospect of buying a new dryer...watched your video, found a broken roller, and now it purrs like a kitten. Thanks for your video!
Lifesaver. My belt snapped and i was having a fit trying to get this damn thing open
Excellent sir. Thank you. Even more excellent is I easily found the section on the belt replacement which is why I came. :)
Gracias, very well explained, even forme., English as my
second language.
Found a free one on Craigslist.,( nothing is free).
And after watching your video and couple hours of work, and boom💥
WE have a good old dryer again.🙏
Great video. Well done. Concise and accurate. Thank you.
Thank you thank you. Excellent and easy video to follow. Was able to fix my dryer myself since I live overseas and jo one here works on us gas dryers!!!
Thanks, I needed to get inside my dryer today, It seems that this video pertains to several Models, I have a MDE 2300 AYW, and the front came off exactly as shown. My husband tighten the loose part and we were back in business in less then 1 hour.
Many thanks for the video. Instead of buying a new dryer I spent $75 on parts and tools and fixed it myself.
+Michael Ellis Nice!
Thanks for the clear, concise & helpful guide.
Thanks man, needed your video to get started and it worked great.
Great tutorial! Thank you for helping me reattach a dryer baffle today! All other tutorials I was finding were for machines with easy pop-open tops.
Mine is SDE4606AYW but surprisingly to me your video still helped it was just opposite.
Thank you for this video. I have a Dependable Care dryer that I've had new since 1997. It started to vibrate bad when I turned it on. The only other trouble I've had from it in 20 years is one of the tub paddles came loose and was making noise. Anyways, after I broke it down I found a bunch of lynt between the front blower wheel fins that threw it bad off balance. Dug it out, put it back together and she runs like a top again.
Excellent Video! helped me avoid costly repairs
Yeah killer info. The inner boot on newer front loaders are hell. Appreciate this video.
Thanks for the video! Helped save me a service call!
Thanks for the video! Fixed my dryer in 20 minutes, You Rock!
Very well detailed on how to take it apart
Well done video, you’re an excellent teacher, thank you. Saved me big.
Omg 82 people just had to. :-/
Good job on the vid. Helpful as hell!
Thank you for this video! It was very very helpful thank you!!
I wish I could buy a new one of those. Next year it will be 20 years old never had one thing done to it. I am putting new drum rollers belt and tensioner today.
Don't forget to unplug it first. Once the cover is off there is a lot of exposed wire connectors and with 120 vac, a shock can be pretty bad. I watched both of your vids on the Maytag. We have a different model but it was easy to take the front off. The top does not need to come off ours DG84100. So much lint and ash in there. Really worth it just to clean everything. Just don't touch the flame sensor in the burner tunnel. It's very delicate. The motor was packed solid with lint. Surprised it didn't overheat, catch fire or burn out. New belt ordered. Took the 3 wheels off for a good cleaning and some lube. just a dab of high temp marine bearing grease on the shafts and they turn fine. Lots of lint in the lint screen compartment too. And more in the fan blades. I'm wondering why they don't put rollers on the front of the drum too. This one has 2 plastic slider pads for the drum to run on. Seems it would take less power operate on wheels. These dryers are a marvel of cheap construction. Lots of sharp edges so watch your self. Maytag wanted 44 + shipping for a belt. Ebay $10 shipped. We bought this one used about 20 years ago. One appliance repair guy I talked to said to expect 4 to 7 years for new appliances. Worth fixing the older models for sure.
Awesome video exactly what I needed! Except when I plugged it back in and pushed start it didn’t work, any suggestions?
Thank you for posting this video. Very helpful.
Thank you for making this video! 👏👏👏
Huge help sir!!!! Thank you very much!!
This is great. Thank you! I just need a sped up putting it back together now. 😁
Great job, exactly what I needed.
Hey Bill. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. It makes a huge difference so please keep up the good work. I was just wondering where the best place to get replacement parts for this dryer is? I would like to replace all of the parts, with quality ones, while I have it apart. Thanks 🙏
Got me where i needed to go. Rollers tensioner and motor were seizing. Lubed and boughtsome time
Always the best! Thanks Bill!
Thanks Again! My dryer is almost identical and is a little over 20 years old. First ever problem today! Not heating. I suspect it is the heating element.
Thank you! Open mine up and found a sheet metal screw on the drum had loosened up and was scraping the side of the cabinet 😂
Very helpful video! thank you
