Did I miss or was it not said in the video - the model of the Octavia? Since in there is no VRS logo in the front and you mentioned yourself, that it is not RS, I am wondering which is it: Ambition, Style or Sportline? If you could kindly write the model, it would be very appreciated. Other than that, the review was really great! Good job! I did enjoy the video and your opinion on the vehicle.

This channel is the gold standard. Articulate points, professional but not stuffy presenter and the overall quality makes it very nice.!! As for the AC, yes we love that AC sound!, not a full blow hurricane but we need some sound to convince everyone in car that AC is working.

Quality of Skoda cars is great. Let's be honest, Skoda is cheap ( not that cheap), but what u get with that price, plus quality of materials, is great and wonderful. I had a chance, few days ago, to drive it. Driving is so smooth, steering is great, sound isolation is great... Totally agreed whit your opinion, Thomas! Much respect and support for your work... I have been waiting for this one :). Awesome review as always, not much to dislike about the new Octavia it seems. Apart from everything moving into the touchscreen which I don't really like. Was driving test (new) Octavia 2.0 TDI DSG 3 days ago, but been driving gas cars for 7 years now. I was soooo surprised when waiting at gas station, how loud the machine is. It's like a tractor. But fuel economy is great tho ... was driving it sportier, 5.3l/100km was consumption.
Just ordered my hatch SE yesterday; can't wait, got to drive an SEL estate and I loved it as soon as I let the clutch up. Have to say I couldn't hear the A/C working; though it definitely was. I've honestly only driven one smoother, quieter car; and that was a Bentley Eight back in the early 90's.
I think when you have a car like this one, you don't need anything else. Thank you for a great review. You have very intressant and lovely voice, which is perfect for introducing this specific car. Regards
15:22 As for the rear seats: Are there any studies, how often adults actually sit in the back of cars at all? In daily driving you barely see adults sitting there; mostly the rear of every car is empty; except for some kids!

Thank you Thomas. I was comparing this car to the ford focus active x estate. I think Skoda have nailed it with the front design. On the inside I really like the way the bold chrome trim drops around the information screen. However, the ford has multi link on all engines with the Active X, plus the drive is superior. Similar pricing. I've gone for the Ford. Nice review though!
Touch controls for the roof to! I wonder when physical buttons will return. I find not having physical controls for all AC, lights and radio very unappealing. Slider volume? Terrible.

Great Review including the detailed suspension opitions (auch auf Deutsch🇩🇪). Very good comparison between the VW group siblings and also mention how it differs from MB on higher speeds. Admirable detail including gas struts for the engine compartment, the note on the OK feeling of the break pedal and the physical button for the driving mode. I like the "denim look" on the top of the inside door panels and top part of cockpit. Would look great with a "Thomas blue" car.🟦 Electric seats also are a big plus. Very funny test with finding the Friedrichstrasse.. The Canton sound system gives good sound (thumbs up for the nice piece of music with the female artist💃) Very nice functionalities with the ski hatch compared eg with Leon which has more basic functionality on this part. The Leon seems to have more stylish view themes for the digital cockpit and also more innovative interior lighting that is connected to eg side assistant. I think we'll gonna see a lot of new Octavias on the road. Also very relaxing video with some birdsong included..🐦

Thx for the wind noise review. Very helpful. About the Leon: only the 1.5 48V engine seems to have a strange brake feel. Not the others. As I understand, it has something to do with recharging while braking (or something like that). Not only with the Leon, but also with the other cars that use the 1.5 48V (like the Scala). Very curious if you notice it with the Leon ST (and also about the wind noise).
Do you know when area view (360 degree camera system) will be available? Is it with the rs (iv)? Are there other features which have been announced but will only be available later this year for the octavia?

Thanks Thomas, excellent review! I like this one, especially the interior is quite nice. I think they went one step higher up the ladder with this, making things hard for the Golf. VW makes some weird cost cutting choices, like the lack of gas struts for the hood in the Golf that the Octavia does have, and with regards to the material quality in the interior. The lane keep assist already irritated me in your review, so I would not have to spend any money on that feature! :-)
Maybe this is why for the first time Octavia is more expensive than Golf? Even though the cheaper 150 HP Golf is equipped with a more expensive rear suspension (multi-link) vs. Octavia (torsion beam)?!?! After checking in several markets the pricing of identically configured (engine+options) Octavia and Golf, it turns out Golf is cheaper than Octavia.
question: blind spot monitor, does it only activate if you have your turnsignal on to the side where there is a car taking you over, or doesnt it light up every time someone goes past you?
hm damn somewhere here, in the hatch review or in the Octavia I think I have shown it in detail, but I cannot find it at the moment. It always give a warning, steady light, when cars are approaching from behind. When you put the turning indicator, then you have a more flashing blind spot monitor light plus acoustic warning
Awesome review. The Octavia and the Leon are very decent cars for their price point. They are in fact so good that I don’t see the reason for spending extra money for a Golf (apart from the badge). Thank you for the review

Hey Thomas, I used to have the Leon ST Xperience and now have Octavia SE-L. I like the size, practicality and standard spec of the Skoda. But I preferred the handling and drive of the Seat - with AWD and DCC. So, my question is will Skoda do an AWD Scout version of Octavia 4 for the UK - with DCC and ESC? And will there be a new Leon Xperience? And which one should I buy?
So far i never talked about it so people dont say i am biased towards a certain brand. Have been thinking about changing the policy though, not sure...

I found the whole visualization a bit low contrast...the Leon has bigger Icons which are color coded like on a smartphone. In the Skoda everything has the same pale color, just a bit harder to differentiate.
Did you find the large chrome decoration on doors distracting? On camera these seem to flicker alot. Also, do you have any insights, why Škoda has chosen to withold 1.5 TFSI DSG -- probably the most suitable engine/gearbox version for the car?
That's weird. I checked the Bulgarian Skoda Octavia and only the Skoda Octavia Ambition doesnt have the digital instruments, while the Style does have them. So that's very weird :/
The camera in the car is constantly shaking. I can assume that the suspension is unnecessarily stiff and uncomfortable. I have experience with a new Scala - a beautiful car, but I get nausea from the suspension. Or I am wrong?

I think Lane assits is a standard from lowest level, so can't save from it.

Not yet available. We are expecting it with the first facelift or a model year change of the Seat Leon, but it indeed does not start with that option.

This car has the lowered suspension or standard?
I found the whole visualization a bit low contrast...the Leon has bigger Icons which are color coded like on a smartphone. In the Skoda everything has the same pale color, just a bit harder to differentiate.

Did you find the large chrome decoration on doors distracting? On camera these seem to flicker alot.

That's weird. I checked the Bulgarian Skoda Octavia and only the Skoda Octavia Ambition doesnt have the digital instruments, while the Style does have them. So that's very weird :/

The camera in the car is constantly shaking. I can assume that the suspension is unnecessarily stiff and uncomfortable. I have experience with a new Scala - a beautiful car, but I get nausea from the suspension. Or I am wrong?
