    I saw this car myself at Whiskey Pete's back in the early 90's and talking with one of the employees he told me the car was just a gimmick and in fact was NOT the car of Bonnie & Clyde and just a tourist trap. I took several good photos of the car there at the casino and compared those later to the original photos at the scene and it definitely is NOT the same car!

    Just a shot in the dark but unless they damaged the block would be relatively easy to get it running, driving again. Somebody had to buy it new before Clyde stole it.
    I like the lines of the 34 Ford, would like to have one as new to drive, even today as a Sunday car. I think they were still six volt system and hard to find radios that work on that unless the original still works.
    The soft roof wire support functioned as a radio antenna on those cars. A well oiled and greased and maintained flathead V~8 34 ford would be a show stopper because of its rarity. The front window hinged open on a gear track. Just a cool cozy little car overall. The 32 V - 8 debut had no baffle in the oil pan with lead to oil starvation in hard corners but this had been fixed by 34. Very few problems with the car unless somebody shot B.A.R.'s at it.
    This model had the tacked on trunk that gave storage but didn't help the looks of the car.

      Bill Bright this is the bonifide death car, there are 167 bullet holes in it and if you search up the ambush on Texas hideout you will see the actual death car Perry Carver who now owns the ambush museum in gibsland Louisiana, this museum building was called man Canfield's Cafe the last place Bonnie and Clyde stopped before they were killed, they were ambushed at 915 am on may 23,1934, 9 miles south of where the museum is. Perry Carver and I hear so many stories about Bonnie and Clyde on a daily basis even some people try to say that they were killed in Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, etc...when they were killed in a little settlement called sailles Louisiana. But if you could get into that cage with the car and get the VIN number and have the police run it you would find it was stolen from Springfield Missouri by wd Jones and Raymond Hamilton, for Bonnie and Clyde, at Clyde's request. It was stolen from Thompson auto by the shrine mosque, on Washington Street, it was there for maintenance, it was purchased new by a Dr. And had only 100 miles on it.

      Bill Bright the engine was restored in 1987 for a vintage road race. A girl raced it from Los Angeles to Florida. Google it. That's why the interior is all covered with clear plastic to preserve all the blood stains during the race. I remember this from the 80s

    In the early 1980's I was asked by Peter Simon, a high school classmate of mine, to sell the Bonnie and Clyde "Death Car" for him. He had inherited his father's roadside casino/motel (Pop's Oasis) at Jean, Nevada where the car had been on display for years. I sold it to a casino operator in Reno for $75.000 and a Peter gave me a $7,500.00 commission. I sat in it.

      Interesting story! Thanks for sharing! There has been much debate in this comment stream about the authenticity and validity of this car, which resides now at Whisky Pete's Hotel and Casino (Down the road from Jean, NV). I'm 80 years old now and can't remember how the car got from Harold's Club, or Harrah's and his auto museum in Reno back to Southern Nevada, but I do believe the car at Whiskey Pete's is authentic.

    • @junkdeal

      This is the one and only original death car. I saw it myself at one of those casinos in the late '90s. The one on the side of the highway going towards Cali. I think it has, or had, been on the other side, too. This car was stolen by Clyde in, I think, Tulsa, from a late contractor's widow. It was virtually new. When it turned up at the ambush, it had a huge amount of mileage on it, put there by Clyde. He put on prodigious miles constantly driving around. I think he only had it a couple months, too!The car still ran and drove after the fight. The woman fought to get it back, and had it trailered home. It actually was fixed enough to participate in a road rally in the early '60s, under its own power! Probably the majority of the holes were shotgun 00 pellets. It was hit with at least one Colt Monitor machine rifle, and a Remington big-game hi-cal rifle. Pistol rounds and shotgun blasts were the rest. The Remington wielded by one of the cops from the Louisiana Parrish killed Clyde in the opening moment of the fight. A direct hit in the neck from the front of the car as the cop jumped in the road to confront the duo. When the car rolled on, the rest opened fire, not knowing what was actually happening.Most people don't know that the cop in the road did give Clyde a shout to surrender, and in all the excitement, it ended up with a fusillade of rounds into the car. Both Hinton and Hamer gave this account. They would have had a hell of a time justifying an execution, even back then, so it was presented as a response to gunshots out of sight of 5 of the posse, and a car rolling on, as in an escape, and not knowing if the first cop in the road was killed by Clyde.It was plenty well known Clyde would never surrender, but still an attempt had to be made at a capture, even if that is not the way it played out. No one is actually dead certain. Stories by all the participants were at odds on a lot of facts!

    • @carywest9256
      @carywest9256 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @junkdeal. Sounds like you haven't done your research? There was no ''fight'' at the ambush sight.l used to live about 20-25 miles from where they were murdered.When Clyde pulled to a stop to check a hidey-hole for mail,that is when the law shot him in the temple,graveyard dead. Then opened up on the car.No witness,no finger pointing.Read ''Going Down Together''by Jeff Guinn. By far it is the best book l have read about the pair.He did 10 years of research to put the book together.

      Bruce Wayne This is what an old feller at a care home told me. I went to the same grade school as Clyde Barrow, a whole Lotta the time he wouldn't show up and everybody was glad, the kids were glad, the teacher was gld. The principle was glad, everybody kinda knew the one has some kind of character problem. But every once in awhile when he would show up he'd seem like an alright kinda guy, well dressed clean looking well groomed good haircut, easy to talk to,sociable, ( he then curved his pointer finger so as to tap on the table for emphasis) You could look at him and there isn't a single thing you put him down about, he'd just seem like an alright kid of guy ,,you were kinda glad you met up with him he'd kinda make you feel alright (then he stopped his finger tapping on the table and says) But then after awhile he'd get chump on ya. I asked him why are you all the way out here in Hayward, california, he says, I got family out here. All this is word for word 1976 ALETHA,LODGE on West street and Mohr Drive now called Arcadian Community. But there is the new side and old side. Old side being diagonally across .This old fellow was in a wheelchair.At the old side. That's chumpy,on ya.

    I have been reading the timeline that is in this video.There are some mistakes printed,apparently whoever typed it didn't do any cross referencing.There is no town named Cedar Hall,it's Cedar Hill.Just like when Clyde bust Ray Hamilton out of Eastham.The first book l read says that one of them shot the major off his horse.The reporter got the facts all discombobulated.The man on the horse, his name Major,it was not his rank.Little details can charge a story a lot.

      It's true, but it's a fascinating story, it's a pity that these things gather our interest. I have a feeling that they robbed the banks and gave to the poor which is why they were idolised in their day. But the killing part is what doesn't sit well with me.

    A note of irony, the ambush tactics used to kill Bonnie and Clyde would never be allowed Today. Also there seems to be dis-agreement as to whether the Bonnie and Clyde name is painted or a sticker. It was displayed for a while in travelling carnivals, and painting that would likely have happened then if it is paint. That would not detract from the value at all in my opinion. It is what happened in the car that makes it valuable. I do not however understand it being displayed with the doors closed. I would want to see the inside of the car. That also brings up the one thing I find very strange that is missing from the shirt...old dried blood stains. Someone shot full of holes did not have blood get all over the shirt. Can anyone reading this offer up anything to explain the lack of blood stains? Is there visible blood stains that just don't show up with the camera? Did they actually wash it afterward? What about Bonnies clothing? Does anyone know if her clothing displayed anywhere?

Don't try to compare photos of car then and now, it's been tinkered and toyed with and "restored" over the years. Bullet holes may have been added, which may account for no truly consistent hole count published. Somewhere north of 160 most agree on?
