- Historically on National Day Golden Weeks, the streets would be packed with people. Even in 2023, when the pandemic restrictions had just been lifted, the streets were crowded. But this year is really strange-many shopping streets, big malls, and even seafood markets are unusually quiet.

Nobody has Harry Crabbe's money... so they try to charge more, for lower quality?
The price drops for plane tickets... they do the same for cruise ship tickets now, when demand is low. They charge too much at first, and some wealthy people still will buy... but when you see the ticket prices keep getting lower as the date approaches, and they offer free room upgrades to regular customers who bought cheaper rooms, then you know that they have many empty cabins.
The Chinese obsession with money is very off-putting.
They love to flex their wealth and wealth is the only important thing in China.
It comes from having a poor heart and mind.

Soon the CCP will have to institute minimum spending rules; every citizen of China will be required to spend a certain minimum amount according to their income. And soon after that will come the rules about how many children women will be expected to have. And maybe the maximum age a citizen may reach before they're expected to quit being a drain on the economy. Probably 80. Anyone older than 80 will have to go. And women will have to have 2.5 children. And consumers will have to spend 30% of their income. That's the only way the CCP will pull their economy out of its death spiral.

In small city like Nanning there were about 2 million people on the street every day in golden week . That a small city , you can imagine how many in big city like Beijing, Shanghai.
Which means all those people couldn't afford to travel outside of the city

While the costs may vary due to factors like supply and demand over time, you still have the full product/service you've bought, that's the intrinsic value. Even if you have overpaid or underpaid, there is no loss. You might have missed out on a bargain, but it could've gone the other way too. This isn't complicated logic. Hairy crabs ... AKA mountain creek crabs in Laos. Although they are not necessarily cheap, You can get them for about 8-10 USD / kilogram next to the creeks up in the mountains. (Not wholesale price, just "tourist" prices from vendors)
