I've recently started to play SF5 a bit (to prepare for SF6) going through random characters and checking their playstyle~ Ed is mad fun. Unfortunate his design was a miss, and I just don't get his personality at all, is he a cocky kid with superpowers or a jacked man with a mind of a kid, a villain, a hero? No idea from his voicelines honestly~ And with him being a character without any motion inputs I think it would've been great if he was released for free, not sure how much he appealed to hardcore audience~

Nah, he's also underrated. He's got some cheap shit but it's not like he's super popular or a Godlike top tier character, which is why you could make the argument he's underrated.
VT1 is one of the best VTriggers in the game now. Completely busted. It's like a better version of Aegis Reflector but only 2-bars so you get to do it twice per round. Ludicrously underrated character.
Going back to look at this after playing sf6 for only a month its kinda crazy how much better it looks in comparison imo.
