Wow- how prophetic is that video!!Just realised exactly where this was filmed (basically ground zero but before September 11 2001) unbelievable. Great song too
Since their album, Liquid Skin, was released on the 13th September, 1999, this video seems to be little more than just foreshadowing. Great song though
At best underrated...I am of Irish descent and American born (Irish citizen)😲😂😲. But I will say my most heartfelt bands are English (,and Irish). But damn..the English are much more sensitive and connected than they let on...maybe that is their secret magic? That in comedy and music they show their true selves? God bless them then
Indeed! Just a point, I don't know why but it seems that it depends on the version of the episode. On another version, you have same scenes and dialogues but the tracks have been changed. :/
Reminds me of being 16 And getting pissed round my mates house in yr2000 great nights watchin ali g n then listening to gomez. The doves. Embrace . Bluetones etc until the sun rise !!! Best days of my life . Miss them dearly as I'm now 32 n trying to buy a house 😕
I love that I also have those memories of being young and wild, not a care in the world...im 38 now, beautiful wife and kids, alot of my friends have moved on a went there seperate ways but im glad I will always have those memories and to say that I lived a great teenage life
A sorely underrated song. Despite its age, it holds up very well against today's music and really deserves more views than it's gotten so far. And commented references to this video alluding to the events of 9/11, even though this video was made 2 years earlier... whoa... spooky as Hell!
truely amazing video, and spooky to think it was filmed around the world trade centre in 1999, you can see the pedestrian link bridge in the background in one of the opening shots, and the guy in the clip is pointing up in the sky and warning everyone, sends shivers...and a few years prior..i was on top of one of those towers
Found this album amongst some old stuff yesterday and had not heard for at least a decade, It is just as I remember brilliant, easily some of the best chill out music ever. When I get home from work will catch up on some amazing times by listening to Gomez.
I first heard this sitting around the swimming pool in the backpacker hostel in Byron Bay in 2000, best time of my life plus I got Gomez as one of my favourite bands ever as well.
When a part of a Song can just pop in your head and you WONT give up until you find the song for your playlist. Thats the sign of great music . Yes , I may be a little obsessed with music😂
This was the kind of video that made you sit up and watch if you were lucky enough to catch it on MTV and the like back in the day. The X-Ray version of the song is worth a listen as well
@@imt3206 unfortunately I don't think I could properly describe it but I will try. Was around the age of 15. A standout point for me in the movie is the part where one of the characters and his partner are watching plastic bags float through the wind and it brings him to tears....he sees beauty in things that probably seem like nothing to anyone else. So anyway I remember how I would see similar things that were actually nothing, like the way a street light shined at night and the picture it made in my mind and I would think it was so so beautiful. It was just like the best feeling being able to see beauty in things. It was overwhelming. Anyway whenever I think about this movie and song it takes me back to how my mind worked at the time and I miss that.
The longing how it burns and stings.. Roswell brought me here too :) Oh bittersweet memories of an innocent, overwhelming, complicated sometimes sad but beautifully intense and also carefree, fun, curious, exciting time in my life! High School ;) Couldn't wait to grow up. Now wish I could go back.. Miss those days. I'm still curious about a lot of things though, I take it as a good sign ;) Super cool song.
how come nobody has commented on how spooky this is that he is by the world trade center just before the towers were hit? Like maybe 1 year before?! Nuts!!!
I've seen Ben Ottewell perform solo twice recently, the most recent being in Wrexham four nights ago. His voice is still so distinctive, whether he's performing old Gomez material, new songs of his own, or covers (he played Nick Drake's "Northern Sky"). Very under-rated band and artist, IMO.
Been looking for this song for years! Was my antidote to life back in day. Would just have this on my MP3 ( haha) on repeat. So many memories. This is just an amazing track. so glad I found it. ( couldn't remember the name of the song or the artist...had to just key in words to try and find the lyrics. FINALLY! I found it. Was listening to this, Manic Street Preachers and Radiohead at the time. But this was my go to track to just escape. Awesome!
Gomez were a band i didnt like to mich in the beginning. But a good friend bought the Bring it on album and played it non stop and i fully admit that i was totally wrong. Liquid Skin is very underrated second album. This song is one of the highlights of that record. Full blown Gomez fan right here from the age of 18, Im now 43 and love this band as much as i did after i realised just how amazing these guys truly are.
Remember when they first came out with Mercury music prize Bring it on album. A fantastic album that still stands the test of time 25 years on. Saw them tour that first album in Leeds and Sheffield. Top live band. Bens got a hell of a voice and Bring it On was so different to the arse end of “ Brit Pop” in 98. Tijuana Lady, Whipping Piccadilly, Get Miles and Get Myself arrested my pick off there but not a bad track on it. This is the best tune off Liquid Skin I’d say along with Rhythm and Blues Alibi and Devil Will Ride. Not a patch on debut album.
Check out ‘Get myself arrested’. It was one of my brothers favourite songs, he was a huge fan of Gomez. Sadly he killed himself the night before his 27th birthday. Throughout our teenage years he always told me he wouldn’t live to be 27. I had no idea he would take that so seriously. He was in a bad place. He had a monster for a wife. A violent, psychopathic narcissist. He had a child with this ‘woman’, and he had a very high powered, demanding job that’s required him to fly business class to the all of the state capitals of Australia regularly and take on six mont to one year tours in outback towns all over Australia. At the same time he was battling chronic depression, he was drinking way too much and he was taking drugs; illicit and prescription. He had a fight with his wife one night. It wasn’t a particularly bad one by their standards she hadn’t stabbed him with scissors (as she had done many times before), she hadn’t hit him with a lamp or anything. She just left. He asked her to leave so she got the baby and left. He hanged himself. Thankfully the police were called to do a welfare check and found him so no one in the family had to see him hanging. His widow was so crazy and violent. She attacked my sister and literally bit a huge chunk if flesh from my sisters arm. She had to have reconstructive plastic surgery. The woman tried to stop us from seeing Rods daughter. She failed. We had access to her. However her mother poisoned her against us and as soon as she was sixteen she stopped all communication. I used to love that girl but if that’s how she wants to play it then she’s dead to me now.
Djalma Reis thank you for your concern. I still suffer from grief, it never goes away but you learn to live with it. That woman is a genuine psychopath. I wish my brother had never married her. She’s as rough as a stray cat. She has three kids all by different fathers. She is a monster. She has caused serious harm to my family. If she was a man I’d have probably killed her in a fight. I shouldn’t say that, I know it makes me look bad. I’m just being honest.
Loved this song the first time I heard it, I was about 14 now 38 and it still sounds just as good today, gomez are so underrated. Such a great band
I hadn't heard this song in 20 years and inexplicably woke up singing it a few days ago and have listen to every day since! Great song
Same here mate,
@@gsd8225 ditto

still one of the best songs out there in 2024. thanx for being brilliant gomez
Ffs finally I found the song that’s been humming in my head for 20 plus years. All i had to do was hum it to google. Now I can move on in life 😂
My dad bought me this album in sixth grade. Still one of my favorites.
LTHayes, you’re dad had good taste in music
Good Dad!
Your father knows good music when he heres it. What an great father.
omg I have forgotten how totally beautiful this band is
Wow- how prophetic is that video!!Just realised exactly where this was filmed (basically ground zero but before September 11 2001) unbelievable. Great song too

an extremely underrated band
Seen them 20 years ago blew me away
Our secret

Roswell ‘s soundtrack ! Sweet memories..... Their first kiss! ❤️

Eerie really eerie
Right in front of the World Trade Centre....see at 4.35

What a beautiful song, timeless
This song is a masterpiece. Totally underrated band indeed.
Reminds me of being 16

mate I couldn't have put it better myself. we may have lived/be living the same life haha
Your best days are yet to come - the music is going nowhere. Just remember to stay in touch with those old school mates.
I love that I also have those memories of being young and wild, not a care in the world...im 38 now, beautiful wife and kids, alot of my friends have moved on a went there seperate ways but im glad I will always have those memories and to say that I lived a great teenage life

Absolutely
Cobblers
Tremendous tune. Heartbreaking - and unintentionally prescient - video.
A sorely underrated song. Despite its age, it holds up very well against today's music and really deserves more views than it's gotten so far. And commented references to this video alluding to the events of 9/11, even though this video was made 2 years earlier... whoa... spooky as Hell!
It blows "today's music" away...all the main stream radio played stuff is utter shite.....Gomez are and will always be at a higher level....
rkmugen first time I saw this video I thought it was going to end up with the buildings crashing, scary shit
Everything holds up very well against today's music.
I came back to this after 20 years. Still ripe.
Forever. It’s a song I often paint to. It’s beautiful
Great band & great song. Roswell memories
This song was used in TV series Roswell
Not just a tragicaly underated band, but this is one of the most criminaly underated music videos of the decade.

robbie czajka amazed. Ur right on target
It was banned for a bit in the USA because of 911
For a bit due to sensitivity of subject matter
Found this album amongst some old stuff yesterday and had not heard for at least a decade,
It is just as I remember brilliant, easily some of the best chill out music ever. When

More than cool. This is the music that grows new synapses.
I first heard this sitting around the swimming pool in the backpacker hostel in Byron Bay in 2000, best time of my life plus I got Gomez as one of my favourite bands ever as well.
Ha ha, same time...traveled with this song and the album on my Walkman in Europe (,99). Bryron's a cool place. Rock on🤙

Every time I hear this it makes me think of American beauty...which to me was a deeply impactful story. Was a awesome season in life.
Could you please tell me more about it? About that season of your life.

Top band so good I named my dog after them 😍 what a voice

An amazing and very underrated. Probably one their one greatest songs.
classic 90s track with an incredible video
Always loved them. Always will. Trying to educate my daughter. THANK GOD FOR GOMEZ.xxxxx
watched the old Roswell Series for the first time and fell in Love with that song
i loved Gomez from the moment i heard them, i dont think you can beat the different range on their albums ! This song just makes me drift away :)
I found this band through my driving instructor, he was blasting it during lessons
Bryan Cronin 😂😂😂 your driving instructor has good taste.

I love this song. Gomez are a class act
An amazing band, just love them.
Vicksburg, MS here. The turning point of the American Civil War. Thanks Gomez for making the best of our time here.
This is an amazingly composed song throughout. These harmonies are phenomenal in everyway, Ben's voice is so unique.

One of the most beautiful song of the world
Amazing Song. Greece 99 travel song in walkman! (And all of Liquid Skin album)
Lead singer reminds me of Eddie Veder's rough, strong, superb voice
This song is incredible and I never realised just how good the video is.
Seeing these guys at The Larmer Tree a few years ago was an absolute highlight for me!
Love this song, amazing band, great video and actor (P.J. Marshall)!
Classic, beautiful song, narrative of the human condition will never change, the absolute state of the world we live in and it's only getting worse.
I heard this song in American Beauty,
listening in 2019!

The feeling I get from the awesome song..that we need to turn to God. Before its to late!!
Big love to Gomez!!!!!!!
A track what brings back so many memories of good times and bad
Great to hear a band making a song that isn't geared towards radio play but is the kind of music that they want to make. Love it.
their first kiss :)
I like this song. Not only does it remind me of senior year in HS, but it also reminds me about something in my life, now. Cool, cool, cool! ☺
Oh, and the first time I saw this video I thought, hey is the man here Michael C. Hall?! Lol😁😀😄
Gomez! Cannot wait to see 'em again tomorrow. Been FAR too long ♪
Man I haven't heard this since seeing it on Rage over 2 decades ago. What a bloody great song!
Part of a trilogy that pieces together with Radiohead's Just and Soundgarden's Black Hole Sun.
I know exactly what you mean! Soundgarden pray for black-hole, Radiohead prepare people by getting them to lay on the ground and then this!
This brings back so many memories 😍
An amazing song.
BEUTIFUL SONG.
