I've also owned 11 VWs over the years and have a 72 Super Beetle project that is waiting for me to get done with the MG so I can get back to Bugly(it's nickname). Keep those videos coming and I'll be watching.
I did port the head, just not to increase the size. But to remove any burrs, and to smooth the flow path. The head I was working with has the large intake valves, and I installed a fast road cam. So, yes, I did improve the air flow. But not to the maximum possible.
