My Great-Great-Great-Great-Great Grandfather was held here before he was shipped to Australia. I was 7 when I was there, I could actually feel him and others. A child called out to me.
*I love Bodmin Jail, always have to visit if I'm in Cornwall lol. I visited just recently but when I was there back in September I caught piano keys being played, was so cool!!* 😊❤
Thank you Lucy for sharing awesome video, and fantastic that you have shared the history, i hated history in school but you appreciate it as you get older, awesome Lucy big thumbs up as always look forward to your next explore : )
i went here years ago and there where not many wax figures, mainly just old cells and stocks. It was a great place to goto and i mainly came here because of Most Haunted lol
What a good tour of the jail Lucy, really enjoyed this, but am surprised any jails are shutting these days with all the current ones so overcrowded, thanks for this share my friend, have a great new week there... Carl
Hi Lucy. Nice video. I can correct a couple of things for you if that's OK. What you called a pillory was a gibbet. This was used to publicly display a body after a hanging. The body was usually left to rot until it fell to pieces. Scavengers such as crows would get a feast! The stocks you filmed were a pillory. A baddie would be locked standing up into this. The holes are for the neck and wrists People would throw eggs, rotten fruit and other things at them. The stocks were a simple version of this to take a seated prisoner. These were usually a couple of posts about four feet apart with two horizontal boards, with holes for the ankles.
There’s tons more to see than when we went there, most of it was closed so you were really lucky and yes the beast of Bodmin moor is a famous story maybe it’s where sir Arthur Conan Doyle got the idea for “the hound of the Baskervilles”.
Put to death for forging a £2 note?! ..those were harsh times! The derelict cell blocks are partly in that state because theiving gyppos stripped the roof in the years after the jail closed. Been there myself once, right at the end of the day with hardly anyone else around. I was in the basement by myself, which creeped me out big time, as it was totally silent. Without the prior knowledge of the jail being a paranormal hotspot, would I have been as on edge? Doubt it, after all it was well lit. The subconscious is a scarier process than anything you might see with your eyes..
What have they done to the place? They have ruined it with all the silly lights etc etcI have pics of in there from over ten years ago, it was eerie as hell then, now it wouldn't look out of place next to a cheap arcade in blackpool.
hi Lucy that was creepy but very interesting a bath once every 3 months yuk ! the torture chambers ouch really horrible that blue Room looked cool 😱👻🙌👍
it's all changed now and for the worse. All the cells you were able to go in, are now hotel rooms. The derelict part has been renovated into a Disney World style, interactive experience. I preferred this original format. Such a shame.
This is awesome, great channel as well, we subbed and look forward to more! We just started our own travel channel and would love if you could check us out and follow along! Thanks!
Hanging wouldn't work on me coz my neck is to strong. I can lift the weight of 3 average sized goats plus 14 cans of baked beans. (For fun) just saying.
