I totally agree with your ranking of The Will Of The Many. It was my favourite read of last year and was quiet comparable to Name of the Wind (which in my humble opinion is the best academia trope execution, besides Harry Potter). I didn't expect those scifi elements at the end of the book and despite it reading in first person view, I actually enjoyed the protagonists inner monologue. His struggles were very realistic. The only character I didn't enjoy was his romantic interest (can't remember her name right now). Felt like her character wasn't flushed out enough. Like I don't think they even told us her eye/hair color. She was sweet but flat at the same time.

Its interesting how the top 10 of fantasy books is so different between men and women. Women love more emotional stories and men like action, wars and such. Lotr, Malaz, game of thrones or the first law trilogy didn't even reach the honourable mentions. Not even Terry Pratchett or 80's classic fantasy books.
I am happy to hear you enjoyed Addie LaRue. It was not for me. It is a great book but waaaay too much romance for my taste- it just felt overwhelming. When you were describing the Poppy War I thought you were talking about one of the Joe Abercrombie trilogies. And the Will of The Many is just fantastic. You also have made me even more excited to read the dandelion dynasty and the sword of Kaigen. And I might add Guns of the Dawn to my tbr now although I have only read City of Last Chances by Tchaikovsky and I was not a big fan of it.
Totally agree with Project Hail Mary being included, the excitement, sadness and relationships in the book are amazing. The realisation of what he is dealing with, those four words, had me laughing. "Jazz hands" indeed! “I’m smart enough now to know I’m stupid. That’s progress.”
Brandon’s books are truly in a league of his own. I love most of the books you mentioned in the video. However, two books made me love fantasy, after The Lord of the Rings when I was a kid. They don’t often appear in TH-cam recommendations, but they are special in my heart: The Soulforge by Margaret Weis and Homeland by R.A. Salvatore.
Ah dude speaking bones is the best you have to finish! Speaking bones is so powerful and sad and happy all at once. Beautiful ending. Yes, anyone thinking about reading this series, my advice is to take your time with it. Don't try to rush it. Take your time and appreciate all the little details.
Good list! The Wheel of Time is my favourite so I’d be curious to see if it breaks your top ten once you’ve read more. There are definitely some weaker books but the highs of the series are unmatched
good list. Haven't read some of them, but will definately check them out. always looking for a good read. My personal favorites in this genre have been "IOncarnations of immortality" series from Isaac Asimov, and The Coldfire trilogy from Celia S. Friedman. Although one could argue that Asimov's series isn't fantasy. it is just a good read.
i love your energy and i was super happy when you mentioned shadow of fox, i love julie kawgas work. im making the note of all of these books, your engery was very adorble and i loved listening to you rant bout the books you love
This is such an eclectic list! Added several of these to my TBR, thanks! Your eclecticism implies you'd probably really enjoy Katherine Arden's Winternight Trilogy, a fantasy slant arising out of Russian folklore. More fantasy readers need to know about this series! I also want to reassure you about Malazan - you are one who wants to *feel* characters, and oh boy, do you FEEL in this series! There's simply nothing else like it. GotM - 1st book - is in fact the weakest of the 10 IMO. Books 2 and 3 are among the greatest books I have ever read, in any genre.
I’ve just finished reading Wheel of Time book 6 and I’m still loving the series! Well worth reading for the character development alone. 0:56 And I’ve just started buying that Sanderson series🤩
@@FunFantasyBooks okey dokey. Be warned, some are aimed at younger readers, but I still think the world building and action in them are fantastic. I am going to stick with series here, as I tend not to read standalone, but will identify my favorite of the series if I have one. LOTR (Return of the King) by Tolkien The Belgariad (Pawn of Prophecy) by Eddings Wheel of Time by Jordan Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn (The Dragonbone Chair) by Williams The Sword of Truth (Faith of the Fallen (my all-time favorite book)) by Goodkind The Prydain Chronicles bye Alexander The Chronicles of Narnia by Lewis The Aldoran Chronicles by Wisehart Discworld series by Pratchett The Alera Codex by Butcher Magician by Feist Honorable mentions: DragonLance Shannara Chronicles by Brooks Ranger's Apprentice by Flanagan
Good video thanks! Project Hail Mary is the best book in this video IMO, but it is not fantasy. I wouldn’t call Piranesi fantasy either, but I agree it’s great.
Hey. I am thinking about getting into the Cosmere Brandon Sanderson series. Its a little overwhelming trying to figure out where to start and order to read in. Thoughts?
I have been waiting for this since you teased it on Instagram! I love how long your honorable mention list is, especially since you managed to include my boy Red Rising, and here I am not having enough favorites of all time to even reach a top 10! I can't wait for the sequel to Will of the Many to be announced so I can read the first one and judge if you are correct in bumping the Aurelian Cycle down to make space for it (🕶probably not). Though, "better than Red Rising"? Fighting words!
Thanks for sharing. Most of my favorites of all time were in your honorable mentions, so it will be interesting to try some of your top 10 that I haven't read. My top 3 favorites so far have been: Mistborn, Wheel of Time, Stormlight Archive, Farseer Trilogy, Tawny Man, Sword of Truth... lol okay I had to squeeze in a 4th, 5th, and 6th.
Hahaha I feel you! I tried to only have 10 books and look what happened lol! Thank you for sharing! I am excited about Wheel of Time! Already finishing book 3 and gosh it is great!
The hobbit. It’s an easy read. Not too long and good place to start. There also a series called “the song of Merlin”. Or something like that (Al the books have MERLIN in the title). Those are good too.
Hola Isa!
Your passion sells these books. I am well read in the classics / older stuff, so it is valuable to learn from you about the new. I have a number of these books. Hard to find the time to read them.
@@FunFantasyBooks I have all of that Maas series. I have Ross, Kuang, a lot of the other authors though not always the exact titles you name. Lot of good new fantasy. No time to read. That needs to change
A series that really stood out to me recently is the Magic of the Lost Series by C.L. Clark. I thought Unbroken and Faithless were great books and I'm really looking forward to the release of book 3. I'm a big fan of Stormlight Archive, it's a toss up for me between Way of Kings and Oathbreaker on which one I like more.
I have the exact same thing woth Dandelion Dynasty. I love it so much but taking quite a big break before starting book 3. I really want to savour it and not rush to the end!
Im not sure how to view the list. A Song of Ice and Fire has to be at the top somewhere, how do I know I'll like these books when you left the best one off the list? I want to check out the top 2 you listed but honestly why isn't GRR Martin on this list. Same with Tolkien? Both much better than the Wheel of Time no?
Have you read The Wandering Inn by Pirateaba? If not you should check it out. So much better than any of the books you've listed (and the books you listed are great)
I started with stormlight and would not say that is wrong, buuut you should not read stormlight 1-5 and reading nothing else. I feel starting with oathbringer you gain a lot of joy if you read other cosmere books as well. and save yourself some confusion XD
My top 10 1.The Bound and the Broken (starts slow but it's actually worth it-must read!!!) 2. Wheel of time 3. Bloodsworn saga 4. Harry potter (got me into reading so y'all understand) 5. A Game of thrones (obviously... This is a no brainer) 6. Mistborn (To be read before the dark tower series) 7. Kingkiller chronicles (The only drawback is that the third book of the trilogy is still being cooked. But I honestly don't know why Rothfuss isn't taking this seriously as much as I am...) 8. You know there's no list without Malazan book of the fallen 9. Shadow of the wind by carloz zaffon (it's a standalone novel but might be the best book I've read to be frank) 10. The GOAT is none other than Stormlight archive ( I mean come on, it can't get much better than this. Even so, the focus on world building, lore and the magic system is a bit overwhelming but It wouldn't be Stormlight without it, right? Oh and the stand is connected to the dark tower series. So you should read gunslinger and go from there. LOTR too, but it's hard to narrow down to 10 so yeah...
@@FunFantasyBooks Stormlight is 'the series' but you should read HP. Although Books 1-3 are somehow considered kids books, Rowling really came through in the latter books. from book 4-8, It goes from being a children’s book to a book for all ages, the part where it becomes serious, the part where it gets real bad... I mean real bad. I would pay $500 to read them for the first time-so you're very lucky.
your channel is really really underrated. Also i have found the reason for your low subscriber number. i.e. 1. you mention the name of the book after describing instead of showing the book and name at first. 2. you don't put name of the book in the time stamp. reason no.1 is the most important . because it will make you more direct and welcoming and get you loyal subscriber. reason 2. is also important for your video search optimization, and also hooking random viewers into your channel as they would quickly get the info they want. Your channel is worth more than 300K or more. Please make these two changes. I would like to see you reach 1M

This is the book that got me into fantasy and I am a little surprised you do not have it on your list. I know you are much younger than me but it is an all time classic. It is a trilogy series called Lord of the Rings by Jrr Tolkien. I am sure that this is at the top of most people's fantasy list.
The series i got hooked on was Cradle. It has an amazing magic type system. I will admit the first book is a little boring, but the 12 book series is finished, and it's a masterpiece imo
Hey I really like your recommendation, But it's just my selfish desire but how about you dive deeper, how about you can reach more people . Feel free to ignore this content ideas, - lifestyle based content ( i..e. reading habits where you explain many things - how to read consistently / how to maintain reading habits in busy schedule ) - blindfolded book read - go a bookstore and buy a particular amount of book with blindfolded do watch Haley videos for more reference - ranking low rated books - you pick this books with low rated reviews and rank them - there a lot more but this will do for a while, moreover you more ideas of your own ) Btw I brought dark matters from your recommendation videos , I plan to read it after Red Rising
Personally l liked the Wayfarer Redemption series and the Coldfire trilogy by CS Friedman. Also liked even if it's so underrated is the Chronicles of Blood and Stone.
Spoiler alert. The sword of Kaigen the part where wife and husband have a sword fight at the end it was the most climatic for me. Which part was it for you??
I read her book, Babel, and knew I had found a great writer. I'm reading The Poppy War trilogy next. I'd like to recommend The Sparrow and sequel Children of God by Mary Doria Russell..my favorite sci-fi/fantasy of all time. Please check it out.
The only problem with the Wheel of Time series is it was not finished by Robert Jordan, who unfortunately died before he could finish it. I believe it was his wife and a close friend of the family who wrote most of book 14, but do not quote me on that. Another favourite of mine is the Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Erickson. Probably not for everyone. The author was trained as both an Archaeologist and Anthropologist, and it shows. Superbly written, but be warned if you pick this series up. It is deliberately written to be confusing in many cases for most of the series. Its only in the last couple of books that these big reveals come from what seems like nowhere, but were foreshadowed in book three or four, and even then some things are left deliberately vague. Its a ten book series, and finishing the last book left me feeling... huh! Kind of muted I know but I was still getting my head around it at the time! It was a Huh of shock, how did I not see that earlier! If that sounds like its for you pick it up,
I would recommend Guy Gabriel Kay, he has beautiful political/alternative history books. It's especially grrat for men who think about the roman empire ;)

Haha I just started reading it again (not sure if I will keep reading it but I felt k needed it and it was so hilarious!
I recenty re-read Sword of Kaigen, And some interaction in the first 10% of the book that hits harder knowing the rest of the stories.
I bow to your amazing editing powers!!! Great list!
Hahah thank you!! It took me ages!! So happy you enjoyed it!
Ahhh dude I know, I know!! I need to get into Speaking Bones soon! I am already missing the story 🥲
Good list! The Wheel of Time is my favourite so I’d be curious to see if it breaks your top ten once you’ve read more. There are definitely some weaker books but the highs of the series are unmatched
Ahhhh I just finished this morning Dragon Reborn and agg it is so good! Can’t wait to see what this story has in store for me!
Based on the ones I’ve read this looks like a great list. Thanks for letting me know of some new books for me to discover😊
OMG how did i hust discover your channel i love your content so muchh❤❤ thank you for doing all these
Ahhhh thank you so much!! Welcome to the family! 🥰
And I’ve just started buying that Sanderson series🤩
I need to start book 6 soon of WoT!!! Oh I hope you LOVE Sanderson!
I love the ocean at the end of the lane. One of my favorite books. Glad to see it receiving some love.
Nice video with great passion! And I say that even though our lists don't intersect very much at all.
Thank you!! So curious to know your list!
@@FunFantasyBooks okey dokey. Be warned, some are aimed at younger readers, but I still think the world building and action in them are fantastic. I am going to stick with series here, as I tend not to read standalone, but will identify my favorite of the series if I have one.
LOTR (Return of the King) by Tolkien
The Belgariad (Pawn of Prophecy) by Eddings
Wheel of Time by Jordan
Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn (The Dragonbone Chair) by Williams
The Sword of Truth (Faith of the Fallen (my all-time favorite book)) by Goodkind
The Prydain Chronicles bye Alexander
The Chronicles of Narnia by Lewis
The Aldoran Chronicles by Wisehart
Discworld series by Pratchett
The Alera Codex by Butcher
Magician by Feist
Honorable mentions:
DragonLance
Shannara Chronicles by Brooks
Ranger's Apprentice by Flanagan
Good video thanks! Project Hail Mary is the best book in this video IMO, but it is not fantasy. I wouldn’t call Piranesi fantasy either, but I agree it’s great.
Have you read A day of Fallen Night by Samantha Shannon? It is my potential next read!
Really enjoyed this video! Espero que tengas un buen día!
Hey. I am thinking about getting into the Cosmere Brandon Sanderson series. Its a little overwhelming trying to figure out where to start and order to read in. Thoughts?
Start with mistborn era 1, they are the easiest to get into😊
@@linnmagnusson3524 Thats what I ended up doing Im about 3/4 done with the first book
great list thanks!
Hahahaha fighting words indeed! I can’t wait for you to read The Will of the Many and then feel the heartbreak if you don’t love it as much lol
Can ÿou recommend a fantasybook that works as an introduction to fantasy for a newbie
Definitely!! Haha try Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson!
Ahh thank you so so much! It means a lot that you find it valuable! Hopefully you can pick up some soon!
@@FunFantasyBooks I have all of that Maas series. I have Ross, Kuang, a lot of the other authors though not always the exact titles you name. Lot of good new fantasy. No time to read. That needs to change
Will of Time is so underrated, and unfortunately, the video adaptation from Prime does not make it justice. Glad you found it!
Yes!! I am reading book 5 currently!! Such a great journey!
Astounded that nothing from Sir Terry Pratchett made your list. Same for "Spinning Silver," by Naomi Novik.
Ahh I am still very early in my Discworld journey I am afraid! Properly started reading him this year- i am loving the books so far tho!
The Sword of Kaigan... the suffering was felt.😢... so good!
Hahaha right? Sword of Kaigen hurst so badly!
I just finished Project Hail Mary last night... That's why im here, i need new book ideas!! But it was FANTASTIC!!!
It is such an amazing book!!
I loved the book recommendations! They will be a great inspiration for writing and scripting my own fantasy stories on my channel.
How lovely!
Maybe this is our year to finish Dandelion!!
No Tolkien, no George RR Martin, Wheel of Time only an Honorable Mention. Can’t trust any of the rest of this terrible list.
You need to read the Red Rising sequel quadrilogy, it's crazy good basically on a whole different level than the first trilogy.
Have you read The Wandering Inn by Pirateaba? If not you should check it out. So much better than any of the books you've listed (and the books you listed are great)
I haven’t! But heard awesome things about it! It kind of terrifies me that it’s so long tho haha
I don't know which one to start with first, The Riftwar sagas, The Wheel of time, or Mist Born..
I need to read Riftwar sagas! Thank you for recommending!
@@FunFantasyBooks I have a number of trilogies to read, then I'll take the longer journeys 🙂
1- Elric of Melniboné - Michael Moorcock
I started with stormlight and would not say that is wrong, buuut you should not read stormlight 1-5 and reading nothing else. I feel starting with oathbringer you gain a lot of joy if you read other cosmere books as well. and save yourself some confusion XD
Hahaha oh agreed!
I’ve read all but two! But I’m getting to oathbringer and eyeing guns of the dawn😅
Love your videos, you always brighten up my day 😊
Thank you so much!! This comment brightens MY DAY!
My top 10
1.The Bound and the Broken (starts slow but it's actually worth it-must read!!!)
2. Wheel of time
3. Bloodsworn saga
4. Harry potter (got me into reading so y'all understand)
5. A Game of thrones (obviously... This is a no brainer)
6. Mistborn (To be read before the dark tower series)
7. Kingkiller chronicles (The only drawback is that the third book of the trilogy is still being cooked. But I honestly don't know why Rothfuss isn't taking this seriously as much as I am...)
8. You know there's no list without Malazan book of the fallen
9. Shadow of the wind by carloz zaffon (it's a standalone novel but might be the best book I've read to be frank)
Hard agree with the Cosmere being at the top 🌝, although it shames me to report that I haven’t read Harry Potter! (Just book 1 ages ago!)
Have you read the Dragon Riders of Pern?
your channel is really really underrated.
Do you like the Acotar series?
They were good! I think it depends on what you’ve read before / what you are seeking! But acotar got me back into fantasy a while back!
@@FunFantasyBooks I just never saw any videos you had with them and I know everyone says this but it really got me back In to reading but after at it's hard to find a series I love after that
I recommend for you to read Patrick Rothfuss series The King killer Chronicles, Brandon Sanderson, The Stormlight Archive and this epic unimaginable series from Steven Erickson. MALAZAN BOOK OF THE FALLEN. I AM SURE THAT MISTBORN WILL BE WORTH OT!
Really enjoyed this
Thank you for letting me know! It makes me happy!
Do you think some book tubers are paid off and reccomendong books they shouldnt or havent read ?
@@AnonforYeshua77777 ummmm I can’t of course talk about every booktuber, but for the ones I know - this is not something any of us do! So I’d say if it’s done, it’s definitely not a common practice!
You should make a top 10 of honorable mentions at this point 🤣 but it’s nice to see how passionate you are
Bahahaha fair point!
Just starting Words of Radiance, the story really feels like it is expanding to give an even better view of this world and it's peoples.
Yay for you!!!! I hope you love the story! Book 3 is so outrageously great!
@@FunFantasyBooks It's great when you don't want the story to end
Awesome and fun video! I want to read Sword of Kaigan asap!!!!
Please please do! 💕
Fantastic video thank you
Thank you!!
Thank you. Its difficult to find good ones that are just right.
Absolutely!! Happy reading!!
Hail Mary is an amazing book! 5 stars for sure!
Yes!!
I wish I could get the trade size I have to read the kindle edition for now
This is the book that got me into fantasy and I am a little surprised you do not have it on your list. I know you are much younger than me but it is an all time classic. It is a trilogy series called Lord of the Rings by Jrr Tolkien. I am sure that this is at the top of most people's fantasy list.
Just found your channel and just added the 1st book from the number 1 series. Here we go......
Hope you love it!
Hola! ,Habrá alguno traducido al español? Gracias.
Hola!! Casi todos están traducidos!!! (Sword of Kaigen no, pero Fireborne ahora en Octubre sale traducido!!)
@@FunFantasyBooks gracias!
Try reading the Riftwar books by Raymond E Feist.
The series i got hooked on was Cradle. It has an amazing magic type system. I will admit the first book is a little boring, but the 12 book series is finished, and it's a masterpiece imo
Hey I really like your recommendation,
But it's just my selfish desire but how about you dive deeper, how about you can reach more people .
Feel free to ignore this content ideas,
- lifestyle based content ( i..e. reading habits where you explain many things - how to read consistently / how to maintain reading habits in busy schedule )
- blindfolded book read - go a bookstore and buy a particular amount of book with blindfolded do watch Haley videos for more reference
- ranking low rated books - you pick this books with low rated reviews and rank them
- there a lot more but this will do for a while, moreover you more ideas of your own )
Btw I brought dark matters from your recommendation videos , I plan to read it after Red Rising
Thank you so much for the ideas! Really appreciate them!
OMG, you have got to continue with Red Rising series. It gets better and better.
My all time favourite: Temeraire series by Naomi Novik. Fantasy meets History
I love your videos ❤
Thank you!! This really brighten my day!
Oh you have to finish the Grace of Kings. It only gets better, especially book 4!
Ahhh I know, I really can’t wait! This is the year!!
Thank you 🙏🏽
Thank you! 💕
My favorite fantasy series was Wheel of Time for a long time... Now it is The Wandering Inn.
Oh really! I’ve heard wonders! Should give it a try!
@@FunFantasyBooks The audiobooks are great, otherwise hit the webpage for it.
Personally l liked the Wayfarer Redemption series and the Coldfire trilogy by CS Friedman. Also liked even if it's so underrated is the Chronicles of Blood and Stone.
Thank you so much for the recommendations!
Spoiler alert. The sword of Kaigen the part where wife and husband have a sword fight at the end it was the most climatic for me. Which part was it for you??
Poppy War for the win.
We discussed how the anger that the book brings out that makes it better .
I read her book, Babel, and knew I had found a great writer. I'm reading The Poppy War trilogy next. I'd like to recommend The Sparrow and sequel Children of God by Mary Doria Russell..my favorite sci-fi/fantasy of all time. Please check it out.
@@shelleyaultman1193 thank you for the recommendation. Will surely check them out
The only problem with the Wheel of Time series is it was not finished by Robert Jordan, who unfortunately died before he could finish it.
If that sounds like its for you pick it up,
loved will of the many!
Yayyy! It is such a great story!
Have you read malazan?
I have not!! Should I?
Thank you Isa. This is great.
(creo que eres española y estaría genial algún video o canal en castellano tuyo)
Si!! Lo soy!! Jajaja muchas gracias!!
@@FunFantasyBooks pues adoro tu canal. Me parece una maravilla y ojalá llegar a poder tener el inglés como nativo al igual que tú haces!!
I would recommend Guy Gabriel Kay, he has beautiful political/alternative history books. It's especially grrat for men who think about the roman empire ;)
Thank you so much for recommending!!
