A moving funeral homily for Cardinal Sim

Fr. Arin Sugit, one of the only three priests of the Brunei vicariate, offers a moving homily for the late Cardinal Cornelius Sim at the Church of Our Lady of Assumption on June 15, 2021.
Following the Mass, the cardinal was buried at the Christian Cemetery, Jalan Maulana, Kuala Belait.
The 69-year-old cardinal died on May 29 in Taiwan where he had traveled for cancer treatment.

Our family never forgot Cardinal Sim. He still Bishop as he visited in our humble town. It was during Youth congress when he come to the Philippines. Together with his team he stayed in our simple home. We Aban family happy to served them in our own little way to give them comfort. Be happy in arms of our creator Cardinal Cornelius Sim and be our guardian angel.

Thanks Fr. Arin, it was a moving homily about Cardinal Sim... I was so sad that I couldn't go over to BSB due to tis C-19. I'll always remember him in my prayers.

Yes by God's will the next bishop because he is keeping his celibacy vows well. His native group will be so happy. Spore trained. Good communication skills. When someone is sick will rush to their bedside to anoint with holy oil and give communion. Now he got a high powered motorbike to respond to sick people fast. Generally a down to earth and simple good bloke. Can have a good sense of humour. Often begins his sermon with a joke. Tolerant as he has lived or.many years in an attic on the first floor of the church behind the chour which he mentioned twice in his numerous sermons. For his mission work during seminary went to East Timor. He described them as "lacking in everything compared to people here. They need more of everything", he said.
