I love a new gadget or tool for fly fishing or fly tying as I am sure you all do. I can't afford to go out and buy a new rod or fishing reel every year. I can stretch to small items under £50..00 that can make my fishing life a little more organized or comfortable. It's sometimes just the smallest things like tying a knot more easily or warm feet when you are fishing in the river, even bank and boat. It can extend your days fishing when you might well have packed up and gone home.

Fun ! 💪🏼🤣
Lindsay, having escaped the BFFI without too much expense you post this!
The tool is interesting as are the heated socks, I would happily have suffered cold feet just to have a decent crack at winter Grayling.
Aye, bit of a wash out this year pal.
Good ideas great videos
Thanks pal 👍
If you’re fishing the Pere Marquette river for steelhead in Michigan check in with the guys at ‘Baldwin Bait and Tackle’ …. They can give you tips on what’s catching where and even hook you up with river guides and guided float trips …. Great bunch of guys 👍👍
Thanks for the info! I think I might have visited the shop on my last trip. One of the things I love about Baldwin there are more tackle shops than clothes shops!
@@lindsayiflyfish … I’ve had some success on a fly imitating what is known in Michigan as a ‘Wiggler’ (no really it is 😂 ) it’s a large-ish Hexigenia mayfly nymph kinda a grey dun in color with prominent eyes and a gilled abdomen …. They fish the live versions up there (available at tackle shops) but I’m sure there’s plenty of fly patterns out there for them …. The eyes and the gills are key… anyhoo have a great time in Michigan .. wrap up warm it’s bound to be chilly … can’t wait to see the videos 👍👍
@@lindsayiflyfish th-cam.com/video/22DTVkxlHqQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=WhnPYto87wR5EdC- Hexigenia nymph pattern that’s got all the features … good luck 👍👍

Size 16 olive scuds work great on the east side. I have never been to the west side. We have been doing great using just white marabou jigs this winter so far. I need to get over to the west side. Good luck fishing Lindsay, like he said, dress warm 👍🏻
My favourite gadget is the monomaster. Brilliant for disposing of used leaders.
I do have one of those, love it.
Looking forwards to seeing any content from your time at this years BFFI show. I really enjoyed this vlog. Five excellent bits of kit. The simple solutions are often the best. With the measure perfect for rod or landing net handle. The hook storage idea is one of the kick yourself for not thinking of it sooner items. I will get some ordered soon. Shame Ronnie did not have that rod holder last season. It might have saved his rod during the practice session.
Thanks Mick, I didn't film at the BFFI this year as they had already got someone to film the event. I did offer. It was actually really nice to just wander around with no pressure just not enough time really for one day must book accomodation next year.
The first item is undoubtedly the most useful as far as I’m concerned
Glad you like it.
Like the socks Lindsay, I get terrible cold feet standing in water especially at the start of the season, I couldn’t wear both at the moment cos I have a broken ankle. My wife bought me a heated gilet a few years ago and I love it keeps you toasty all day long tight lines.
They are great I suffer bad from the cold. The gilet is superb especially if you are sat static in a boat.
Heated socks ,I'll have some of that 😊
They are ace!
Hook store, at last a genuine good idea, will be getting some ASAP. Great video.
Thanks for checking it out.
the second item, the rod holder, would be my faviorite
Very pleased with it it is rock solid and take a bit of getting off.
@@lindsayiflyfish Thank you for your reply. do you know if the guy making these has had a good respose and roughly how much he charges?
@@johnowen4888 I paid £30.00 for mine just a few weeks ago so I doubt the price has changed since then. Nik is on FB a good deal so I expect a quick response time.
@@lindsayiflyfish Thank you, Best regards
Been tying my hook knot like that for years.
Good stuff
Great ideas!
Glad you like them!
I think the tweezers are a good idea,i have been salmon fishing for years and when you are using 15-20lb nylon i can manage it fine, then you come down to 6. 7 . 8lb i just struggle to hold it so i will give it a go next time i am on the loch. Thanks for all your tips keep them coming.
Thanks Denis, I am not without them on the river now very helpful 👍
The hook storage be great I have hooks in draw with a biscuit tin for storage and like your good self I use hanak hooks
Simple idea but works really well.
Thanks mucker, great to see you last Saturday in Stafford (in the queue) Ray Ex 3 Para
Ray, and you, hope you enjoyed the show.
brilliant, si impressed with the fly tying guys, Simon Easthope demonstrated how to make a parachute fly in a different way. Its also on TH-cam. Ray

I love to fish on the coast here in Denmark and when it's cold it's horrible to try and and make a knot for another fly, the tweezers would be a life saver. I was lucky to win Geoff Anderson socks and more in januar so heatet socks are not a concern 😊
I am glad there was one thing that was useful 😀
Hi Lindsay i met your old friend Rob Barden the other day while fishing at brick farm lakes. He told me a story about a certain new rod disappearing over a boat at Bewl water. :) The eze tool for would be most useful as my eyesight is poor !
Bob, was a legend that day! The tool is excellent pal.
I cannae believe this tough Scotsman would be needing heated socks……. (But he’s right: it’s a grand idea- Time to shop !)
Socks, Gilet anything that keeps me on the water a bit longer pal 👌
You can get electric gloves too. Sorry I'll watch the rest in a bit
I'm keen on the measuring device(in standard) as well as the knot tying device.
The EZ tool is excellent, I may purchase another one for my stillwater kit.
I nearly fell over when I heard that accent say heated socks.... most be that thing called age catching up.
Really enjoyed that mate looking forward to the steelhead videos tho
Glad you enjoyed it
Socks for me, but #1 is good too!!
I do like my tootsies to be warm
I'm 3 years behind you I just purchased a Umpqua chest pack last week. I'm trying
Still using that pack, yet to find something better, that said i'm always looking ;-)
@@lindsayiflyfish my orvis guide vest is 25 years old I needed a upgrade badly. Can't believe that 26 pockets of stuff fits in the pack plus room for extra thanks
@@dennybowser5533 It is a great pack always got my eye out though ;-)
I really am very interested in the measurement scale on the side of your rod. More info needed please.
The link to the product is in the video description Garry.
Thanks Lyndsey, how comfortable are the battery packs inside your waders and how do you secure them. Cheers
Hi Rob they fit into a little pouch at the top of the sock and are shaped to fit onto your calf. Once you have had them on for ten minutes you hardly notice they are there.
Hi Lindsay ,where is the link for the buying the tweezers, cheers bud .
It’s in the video description pal.
Thanks a bunch, very informative. Question please, what type of resin or treatment can I use on my dry flies to cover a quill, for example, that isn’t heavy ? It seems my uv resin weighs down my dry fly , is there something better for covering a quill on a dry fly ? I promise, any help will be totally appreciated!!!!!!!
I use Solarez Bone Dry it has a very thin applicator brush and is super thin.
@@lindsayiflyfish thank you, ordering…
Cant find the link for the rod holder??
It’s because the app is poor below the video click more and then click more again. Scroll down and you will find all the links. 👍
