I love how the UK has preserved so much of it's technological history. In the US we tend to wipe the slate and haven't preserved much of our 19th and early 20th century industrial artifacts. Thankfully I can cross the pond to see plenty of "living" history. I'd really love to visit Shetland and see the Sumburgh Head light and hear it's fog horn.

I love this old engineering, probably lasted year's compared to the rubbish they're building today. Good solid metal, no alloys or impurities .
From the U.S. This is built to last, its beautiful. I had an old mechanic tell me years ago when he was working on something. "Its old, well built".
