  • Jason Burack of Wall St for Main St interviewed returning guest former long time petroleum engineer and energy investor, Christine Guerrero

    Recently, Christine is also the advisor to a new oil and natural gas company Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) on the NASDAQ.

    During this 40+ minute interview, Christine talks about the life cycle of both a conventional oil and natural gas well along with wells where fracking are required.
    Unfortunately, very serious water problems and now seismic earthquake problems are causing problems for older oil and natural gas wells that have been cased and drilled. Old wells are leaking as the older concrete used to case them breaks or falls into disrepair.
    Christine goes into extensive detail why it will be difficult and also substantially more expensive to keep growing oil production in the Permian Basin every few years.

    Hi Jason, excellent presentation and guest, thanks for all you do. This is very concerning for those of us with substantial portfolios of shale producers. We need to do more research on our own, i guess, to make sure our investments dont evaporate.

    • @WallStForMainSt
      @WallStForMainSt  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @seven8n235 the costs are going to keep rising especially as US shale oil production switches to Tier 2 acreage

      oil shale is flash in pan, a blip from mother nature. If US oil shalers subject to Canadian Oil/Gas regulation, half of US shale operation would be shut down.

    70-75% watercut is not too bad. Heavy oil wells i managed have 92-97% watercut plus 5 to 10% sand cut because the heavy oil is 6000 to 15000x more viscous than water, and the formation sand is unconsolidated (IE playground sand)

    • @WallStForMainSt

      @mtube620 costs are going to keep rising and Tier 2 acreage is going to be substantially higher cost oil production

      Managing nearly 20 million barrels of water per day is a challenge. You’re underestimating the importance of the volume.

    • @mtube620
      @mtube620 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      @@SheDrills my intention wasn't to downplay the water volume of shale oil play, not at all. I'm just saying i have manage an even more skinny profit margin with very high WC and sand cut wells. I'm retired now so i don't have the current water number but i'm sure it's pretty high too considering all the heavy oil wells up in canada. When mobility of water is 6000 to 15,000 times greater than heavy oil, high WC heavy oil well, from day 1, is normal. I would say i manage water wells, with 2 to 10% oil cut as by-products. It's an oil skimming operation. Shale oil has its challenge, heavy oil has its own challenge too. You have low visc oil and low perm rock, i have high visc oil and high perm rock. I can't re-inject water for pressure maintenance. I have to drill dedicated wells just for water disposal or trucked to another WATER DISPOSAL WELL some distance away
      Shale oil production have the luxury of re-injection back into producing formation for pressure maintenance. Oil shalers don't need to look for new places to dispose the water.

    I live in West Texas, and I know my relatives and friends in Permian Basin cities have not been able to use or drink the water there for decades it's so polluted. I don't know why they continue to live there, it's expensive for them too, the cost to filter and/or buy the water that comes into their house. Some experts say the world will run out of oil by 2050, others say it's 2075. As a country we definitely need to develop new sources of energy, before that time comes.

      @wayneatwell7039 this is why I do not gamble on juniors for mining or oil and gas. Most have no cash flow or you have a Victoria Gold situation. And yet lots of grown adults blame her for their gambling losses. I used to get around a dozen people calling me names and insults and trying to hustle me or harass me for lots more additional free work on TH-cam, Twitter, etc. Those people are blocked or muted now and anyone who does that to me going forward should expect the exact same treatment. I would actually love to sell the TH-cam channel so I am done with free work entirely and then only do paid work behind a paywall at a way higher price point only ASAP

      She only mentioned her fund OCTA, and she said she'd love to have you as an investor. That is not a recommendation from her, it's your job to do the due diligence, it only takes a few minutes to do a cursory investigation of a company, I generally start with the assets and debts, if that's not in line I don't go any further. If the asset and debts the seem appropriate for that industry, I'll then go back several years to see what the company was outlining as future goals, if they seem to be achieving those goals, I will start buying shares, and continue looking into the company as I invest more money. With an ETF I generally start by checking for a positive NAV, then I compare the dividend to other ETFs I own in similar Industries, then I will look at the performance of the ETF. Not necessarily all in that order, but those first three criteria for an ETF have to be met. And remember even with good managers and a good business things can still go wrong, and we all lose sometimes.

      @@WallStForMainSt i wasn't blaming anyone, just acknowledging my mistake. Investing is individual decision, it's a small gamble i took given its lack of flow test and petrology results, and hanging on hope for too long

      @mtube620 I was not talking about you specifically. But on a daily basis I get blamed for the gambling losses of other adults. He is local and one of the only former Pentagon employees I have ever heard of being fired for watching porn and ordering hookers in Latin America for his "vacations" on his work computer
