She did the most insane, life changing performance with Common of “Glory” in 2016 at the White House. It was so amazing it cleared up my acne, did my taxes and got my little niece to stop singing “Let it Go” for the 573725th time. I’ve literally watched it a hundred times and get goosebumps every rewatch. Phenomenal doesn’t even begin to cut it. Absolutely, jaw-droppingly gorgeous artist. I love that purity of the eee sound. Not many singers can do a bright eee. What do you think of Coko lead singer of SWV? She has an unusual tone. She has one of the purest eee sound when she sings.
Songs like Weak, Right Here, Rain and Can We showcases her amazing tone and range. There is a vocal run in Can We bridge where she climbs 7 notes all sustained, is it operatic? I never heard anybody do that before in a pop/rnb song. Please can you react and describe her voice. I never had anyone analize her cause looking back to the 90 she had a completely unique voice and it stands out to this day.

Tara - I read her ending mechanical posture much different than you. I'm not a singing coach, but I am a psychotherapist that is well trained in reading people's body language, and facial expression. After finishing with that wonderful held note, her body fell to a resting position. Her hands did not go on her side, as you were demonstrating, with a "take that" stance (note that her elbows weren't sticking out to the side); her hands slid down to her knees, for upper body support, as to say, "thank God, I made it, now I can relax". She recovered, rising back up and delivering a beautiful smile.

Great analysis and great insight! I would argue though that that last note didn't come out exactly as intended. For one, it was a bit flat and I think the whole hand squeeze thing was because she had to 'forcefully' sustain the note as it didn't naturally resonate (with vibrato). Two other performances I've seen she did much better on that last note
