I have never reacted stronger to a NASCAR race in all my life than when I saw Chastain pull off the Hail Melon last year. That was single handedly the GREATEST move, and thing in general really, that I have ever had the privilege of witnessing live. There's a reason the 1/24 scale Elite replica of Ross' very car he rode the wall in is sitting in my single diecast display case. Ross certified himself as a living legend with that move and I will forever feel like the luckiest guy on earth that I got to witness it when it happened.
I was at 2 of these. Larson in 21 and Ross in 22. Ross move was the craziest thing I've ever seen. I've been going to the track since I was 5. I'm now 48 and that was the wildest thing ever.
I vaguely remember there was a less extreme example where two drivers took an intentionally unoptimized line since it allowed them to avoid a slippery part of the track, and apparently that line was inspired by a video game mod that reversed the groove in the track settings!
@@Herobrine_Hoax While that is a cool example too, what I was thinking of turned out to be Talladega 2004, with Martin Truex Jr. and Dale Jr. They even talk about it in a video interview!
I'll never understand NASCAR's logic..... The immediate kneejerk reaction to Ross's move was to ban anyone from ever being able to do it again. I really think they need to rethink it. Especially if they're gonna use it to market the "HOLY SH!T" Moments like this. Ross's move was flat out genius. Full send on the final turn. Driver doing all he physically can to get the points he needs to help the team succeed. I feel like it's just as exciting whether he beats the 11 or not simply because no one had tried it at Martinsville. I still think if he doesn't bump Hamlin out of the playoffs there wouldn't have been such a big stink about it -OR- if it had happened at Darlington or Homestead. I rest my case. Unban the move. It's the right thing to do.
They banned it because it’s dangerous lol. Ross managed to do it perfectly but what if the next person doesn’t? Could possibly just bounce right off the wall and kill someone or himself/herself
I am glad for the Carl Edwards mention. When people were like "oh a Larson move" i was like "do you not remember Carl literally mentioned video games!"
Nope. Larson was against it that night even, he said as much at the press conference, that it wasn’t racing and he regretted doing it, but it was just a heat of the moment desperate attempt to FINALLY win a Southern 500.
so we're going to just forget that the Atlanta reconfiguration, the LA Coliseum and Chicago Street Course are all things because video games said they were a good idea?
I love it when a driver does an incredible move, Nascar bans said move and then promotes the hell outta it. lol

Was that 2012 Watkins Glen?

They were the greatest, but now in days it is banned.
I like that video game culture is being mentioned more and more; thirty years ago, people wouldn't be saying anything like these things!
which is hilarious, since there hasn't been a GOOD video game in 20 years
Larson proud of wall riding till he wasnt the first one to succeed

well he's wrong because it was racing@@mikeclark7026
Ross's move was brilliant, Nascar shouldn't ban it
yes they should, its a safety thing
And....now it's not allowed. You know, too fun I guess?
If pass in the grass isn’t here, I will lose it
Edit: well it was just wall rides
“Pass in the grass” that wasn’t a pass.

idk if its the bodies, but if creed tried it and failed, this really shows how good larson is
The only time and one and only time I voted for Larson to win was that darlington race
NASCAR mio amore 💪👍
They forgot Creed's Darlington move in Xfinity
Does nascar drivers play nascar video games and use their moves in a race
Ross Chastain played NASCAR 2005 Chase For The Cup. He said that during his interview.
For actual racing purposes? No maybe Iracing would help with coordination but all these drivers are just referring to games they grew up on.
Only Ross made it work. So hope he regains that spirit as a timid Ross is why he isn't racing for the championship. Go watermellon man!

Outlawed: Video game moves
It was only banned because it worked. If it hadnt worked, it would remain an option and someone would try it again later
🎉
Have you ever heard about waranties
Wider is better ask Hemi
I'm so over seeing this lol
2021 Larson tried it but year later he’s whine about it
Y’all know all of this is dumb and cheating.
