The word Father has been used and inferred multiple times in addressing people in both the OT and NT. Examples: 1) "Father Abraham" 2) Job 29:16: "I was a *father* to the poor, and I searched out the cause of him whom I did not know" 3) Gen. 45:8: "So it was not you who sent me here, but God; and he has made me a *father* to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house and ruler over all the land of Egypt" How can this be? Jesus seems to have contradicted himself!?! The key is looking at his audience. He was talking to the Rabbi's, who in their pride had elevated themselves to a position of ultimate authority and fatherhood - thus attempting to usurp the ultimate authority and fatherhood that belong only to God. Jesus was admonishing them, using hyperbole (exaggeration) to drive home this point. I've seen you on a lot of Catholic videos and I believe that you mean well. Please consider checking out catholic answers (I won't link because that's a little sketchy). You'll find actual BIBLICAL reasons for why Catholics believe what they believe e.g Praying to saints, the role and significance of Mary, the Papacy and Apostolic Succession etc.
I hang out with people, who, at 12 noon and 3 p.m., when somebody says "Angelus" or "Divine Mercy," we know exactly what to do and why. I love my friends, they are God's gifts.

SO TRUE! Whether you realize it or not, who you spend time with influences you. Just in my own life, all my friends I hang around impact me in different ways. What a good reminder for us and for our faith lives- to view CHRIST as our BEST FRIEND! When we place Jesus at the center of our lives, the goal is to truly become more Christ-like! :)
Father Mike, I just want to say for my very brief time in knowing about this Channel, I think it's very lovely. To be honest, I am non-denominational,. but I deeply love our Father and Jesus Christ. I see myself as non-denominational Christian with a growing Catholic viewpoint, since it speaks so much to me now that the Holy Ghost is filling me with understanding. . I know that's not the same as being Catholic of course, but I think it might be the path our Father intends for me. Thank you so much, and praise Him for leading me here.

Thank you Father Mike for this video. I've been striving to stay true to myself and better yet, improve myself regardless of what others are doing around me. My husband is a great role model for this, ever since I met him he has always had his own mind and no matter what others say or do he does what he thinks or knows is best. It can be frustrating sometimes (he takes extra convincing to change his mind on anything lol), but it is also one of his most admirable traits that he is so unwavering, especially when it comes to his moral standards. The best relationships are those that bring out the best in you. I'm lucky I have him. ❤️
Thank you with all my heart. I really needed to hear this. I am struggling with this right now, I don't know how to proceed. I spend most of my time with my wife and two boys(15/14). It is getting more difficult to get them up and go to church with me on Sundays, and there are times I find myself not wanting to get up and deal with the fight and then not going to church myself. My wife is the hardest to convince, and my boys will follow her more than me. My boys I can understand, I was a teenager once to and did not like getting out of bed early on the weekends either. My "friends" gossip about me constantly, boss me around, and leave me out for any get together. I don't know what to do. Every time I try to step out of that friend group they always treat me so well. I just keep going back thinking that they will be nicer.
There is a reason why the phrase " birds of a feather flock together", we are like those we hang out with. Following the spirit of this video - let us choose wisely to surround ourselves with those that will direct our hearts and minds to heaven. I needed this. I know someone who makes more of my friendship with them than it really is. They are inflammatory in so far as Jesus isn't a priority. He's super worldly and doesn't understand how much he's missing out. I've been trying to be as good an influence as I can be, but honestly, I'm going to have to let the friendship go. I'll still be around for them, I just can't spend time with them until they understand.

Okay. Here's something I really need to get beyond. Any time Fr. Mike talks about his family--professional parents, five siblings, Catholic upbringing, working out, closeness with siblings and nieces and nephews, house at the lake--I get envious. I wonder how my life would have been different if I had grown up in a household with ANY of that. I realize this envy is a form of self-pity and both are a sin. I need to take this to the Lord.

I struggle with choosing between surrounding myself with more Christians or continuing to try and be an example for my friends that haven't accepted Jesus. They all have had bad interactions with Christians and I'm the only example of that for them now.

Good point. I've been in places in my life (I'm 62) where I was forced to spend too much time around people who were...well, not exactly doing the right thing with their situations. The best answer I was able to come up with was to get out of that situation before these characters' activities started seeping into my world view. It is likely that the cause and the consequence are confused in this case. When the person changes his occupation and interests, his or her company of friends also changes.
Father Mike, this video comes at a perfect time, thank you! I prayed a lot and received a lot of big miracles this week. But it seems that there aren't many people to celebrate these miracles with. As if success repelled people 😒 When I was miserable and struggling there were many. Sad and weird and makes me think I need new friends. What are their friends really like ? - assuming of course, you're in a position (college/uni/school/work) where you can see what their friends are like. I've been doing this for years with anyone in general, it's a good way to know what the new person is like.
