    I sooo love your vlogs, Dear Nyssa! ❤ You are a bright and shinning light in my selection of vlogs I watch! In my heart you are THEEE BEST! I enjoyed your Cantaloupe (Rock Melon) sorbet you made in your new ice cream maker! It looked sooo fresh, tasty and beautiful! Sooo happy you bought this for the family to all enjoy, that was a wonderful purchase indeed!
    Today I have to tell you how much I LOVED seeing Sonnet 💗and Kavik💙helping you in the kitchen. They have such beautiful sweet faces - as do all your children - so it was a real joy and blessing to get to see Sonnet and Kavik today.
    Sending you much love, and always deep appreciation for all you do to share your culinary and gardening skills with us. You are a JOY Dear Nyssa!❤
    Love you!

    you’ll get lots of use out of the ice cream maker. Definitely a great purchase for whole family. I imagine the children agree. Was the lemon blueberry bread eatable? Love the two flavours together.. muffins, cake, pie . vanilla blueberry ice cream is one I make in summer. You stumped me on rockmelon, in North America we call it cantaloupe! Thanks again for sharing. So glad you’re safe

      We've been super lucky with the wind blowing away from us rather than too us, just very lucky so far, though the rest of the season to come, doesn't bode well when we've had this kind of a start!
      Hehe, Darryl is lactose intolerant, so he doesn't eat chocolate (unless I make him and the kids their friendly chocolate!) so the treats are always for me hehe, but luckily I'm good at stretching and not just gorging hehe :D

My mother is not much of a cook, but my grandmother lived with us when I was young as mum was a single mum and she worked full time, she had pretty bad arthritis so she used to sit at the table and direct me on how to prepare food and dinner and stuff, I think I learned very much from her how to throw things together and make it work! :D

    Hey Nyssa, love your channel, we homeschool our 6 kids in QLD too! - just a bit closer to town. Which brings me to my question, just wondering how your kids go living off grid? Do they ask to socialise often? I'm finding my kids want to see friends far more than I need to! Hope you're all enjoying the warmer weather. All the best
    Megan x

    • @OurSmallFootprint
      @OurSmallFootprint  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My eldest is 16 and I think for her she was the one who remembered living closer to people the most, but the kids were only 2,3,3,5,6,10 ish when we moved out here, so most of them, this is just what it has always been! They all have access to the internet, and D takes them into town regularly, there is a park and he lets them use the eftpos card to pay for things etc etc. They also go to church with D, I don't go, but the kids rotate who gets to go hehe.
      I think that they would enjoy more social options if we had them, but I also think that they don't really miss it either because its just the norm for them :D

    • @OurSmallFootprint
      @OurSmallFootprint  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I bought the cuisinart ice cream and gelato maker, I read reviews on it last year when it was on sale, but didn't have the cash flow, and everyone said it worked well, it definitely got nice and cold and the wattage was low, it will be interesting to see how it goes with an actual custard ice cream, how well it makes the texture etc, I'm looking forward to experimenting.
      I've had one of the ones you have to freeze the bowl before but they definitely weren't up to the job when it is mid 30's outside!

    Will be good to have another intro video, I have only been subscribed for the last 3 months or so. What is your water source? We have a dedicated water line for fire fighting, but water is limited by tank status, always looking for more rain, and being mindful of usage

    • @OurSmallFootprint
      @OurSmallFootprint  ปีที่แล้ว

      We are lucky that there are two places we can collect water from, in town about 30 mins away there is a standpipe we pay $3ish per 1,000L for that 'potable' water, there is also a community bore about 10mins away which we use for the stock/garden/animal water (and if we need to we can run it through the filters into the main tank.
      We definitely do not get enough rain to rely on it alone unfortunately, and our tanks are nearly always quite low.
      One day I'd love to put a bore on the property, but that's a cost we are nowhere near being able to afford at this stage!

      The low methyl ester pectin uses the calcium water to react with instead of the high quantity of sugar, it works really well! :D
