    I've been fascinated with Blower Bentleys ever since I had a scale model of one as a child. Like nothing else. I am planning on building my own boat tailed roadster but not a large as these. Great fun.

    Bob Peterson indeed builds unique and great cars - but he is not alone. A trip over to Wales and you will find Peris Edwards and his company Racing Green Engineering building equally fantastic Bentleys, Rolls and Alfas. I've owned one of his Speed 6 models for 13 years, based on a MK VI chassis with a Rolls Royce B81 6.5 straight eight it is the most wounderful and usable car - 8MPG hurts a bit though!

    Beautiful cars - engineering and craftsmanship off the charts.
    Undoubtedly the cost is also off the charts; but that fades away in the context of these hand crafted, bespoke commissions that allow the creation of such pieces of functional art.
    The small company passion infused, but low key business model of Petersen Engineering is so refreshing! It’s such a pleasant counterpoint to the fast talking corporatized business first / branding focused American juggernaut builders like Singer.

    I just became aware of the original cars these beasts are based on a few days ago by listening to the Casino Royal audiobook and learning that this was the vehicle James Bond owned and drove. Now I’m planning to build a model kit of one, so first the research.

      I think of Casino Royale by Ian Fleming as the first of the modern thriller novels

    There’s one of these in the lottery garage for sure. A sense of drama and occasion you just can’t match. Throw in the reliability and drivability of these tickled ones and it’s perfect.

    Beautiful Bentleys for sure, but totally out of reach for most mere mortals like myself. Never the less, I can still enjoy driving by 25 year old champagne coloured Bentley Brooklands- non turbo version, suits me just fine......

    On the way to school one morning just after the war, we saw one of these Bentleys plugged in a ditch on a sharp corner on a country road. The story was that a girl had a row with her boyfriend late at night, stormed off in his car and lost control. Never heard whether he forgave her.

    I believe it was not the strategy of Bentley to unsettle Mercedes with the blowers. W. O. Bentley was against fitting the blower to his cars if I am not mistaken. “There is no replacement for displacement “.
    Hope the owners of these cars take them out a lot as they seem a lot of fun!

    If I won the Euromillions I would commission Peterson's too build me a 4 1/2 Litre Supercharged Bentley convertible coupe with two large twin marchal headlights and twin smaller fog lights, hidden indicators, in rough battleship grey, with a black ashwood dashboard, white analogue dials for speed, revs, fuel, etc, with grey toggle switches for lights, a hidden radio with a cd player and USB socket, a glovebox, anthracite grey leather interior, with two comfy front seats only. with extended seat runners for room and comfort of the passenger and driver, the luggage compartment would be roomy and practical with dark wood floor and brass rails and clips too secure the Hermes luggage. the Supercharger would have a switch on the dashboard next too the driver for activation when needed. Twin three inch wide stainless steel exhausts. for fast touring

    Fantastic.
    But where is the British car industry today?
    We don’t value engineers.
    We value the arts.

    Beautiful! But I'd frankly be terrified to ride in one - no rollover protection at all, exposed petrol tank at the rear.... Not an entirely comforting mix!!

    • @lanmastersassistant659
      @lanmastersassistant659 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      They're scary but you get used to it, there is a mind set you must overcome to enjoy something like this though.

      What a strange person you must be, what about riding a motorcycle, the petrol tank is between your legs, and, shock horror, there are no roll bars!

    • @philhawley1219
      @philhawley1219 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      No rollover protection, exposed petrol tank? God, that sounds dangerous! I bet you don't ride a motorcycle.

      @@philhawley1219 -Lol, I did for 14years, GoldStar trained as well!! Maybe THAT is actually the reason for my concerns about safety??

      I've been a full license holder for 40 years and I still ride. It was warm today so I put a few miles on my old Ducati. These old fashioned bikes, like those Bentley s were made to be used.
