This actor played this role so incredibly well. Humble, genuine steamy, and stayed true to that character. It was so much more than just sex, there was a blossoming love and playfulness and fear with a slowly growing trust for one another. It was so beautiful. Thank you Mr. O’Connell.

Such an amazing actor. Loved him in Unbroken. He is so humble. Lady Chatterly's Lover was so so good. I love how the movie brought out the layers of depth and nuance in the story and its commentary on society rather than simply selling the sex part as the only thing. Emma was magnificent as well. Superbly made. Bravo to all of them.
Absolutely love Jack O Connell... He was brilliant in 71 and Starred Up, and everything else before and since. ... He's a natural, completely unpretentious, and puts his heart into everything he does. ♥️
Just watched Lady Chatterly's Lover. I feel that Jack O'Connell's Mellors was toned down compared to Sean Bean's (just rewatched the 90s series) and I preferred that, more appealing for the modern day woman. I found the first sex scene in the series with Sean Bean to be really aggressive and Joely Richardson looked like she was being attacked, not really enjoying it. I felt O'Connell and Corrin portrayed the lust, the danger, the fact they were doing something forbidden but also the viewer was very aware of the moment when it shifted into something more than lust. The camera panned into their faces and you could see that they were realising that they were falling in love and starting to need each other to have meaning in their lives.I really enjoyed the film. Jack O'Connell is going to go far. He has masses of charisma and on screen presence. Beautifully filmed and Emma Corrin was great too.
I haven’t seen the 90’s version. It may seem odd to go and watch that version now. The first encounter was so unusual on so many levels, as you mentioned …. And yeah , it conveyed many themes. It was genius.
Agree! The hidden ditails are amaizing. If you wach it more times, then its seen. Its a really profesional made all. Cant imagine any other actors do it. They both did amaizing roles. I think worth Oscar!

Oh, God, he impressed me so much in the Lady Chatterly's Lover. I never wached the movie more times, but this one....The emotions it brings out, the way he talks, whispers, moves..and all this sexual parts,.. I think no actor could do better... I think his career will burst now way beyond any actors, expesially that woman like. .. He did it really good;)))) Congrats Jack.If you ever feel lonely..find me;))))

In this adaptation, which was wonderful, the sex was a gateway to true love and actually, probably to them finding out they were soulmates! Which goes to show that lust can be sacred, too - it brings to mind the Patti Smith lyric, "Love is an angel disguised as lust". Absolutely loved this movie and O'Connell was a gentler Mellors I much preferred to other versions of the character.
Yes, I actually find most versions outside of this, especially the source material quite rapey...
Honestly, I think the movie did a good job of establishing that the two had a mutual understanding and sense of comfort around each other before they hooked up, even though they didn’t talk much

Jack is a wonderful actor, he becomes the character he's playing! Hearing his Irish accent it's amazing how he spoke an 1800s Western American accent for Godless (watch it if you haven't already)! He plays such a good guy, sensitive as well as being a very healthy masculine guy! He's so humble & real! Good lad.

His accent is changing & fading a bit: understandable, relatable, but sad! He doesn't need to play himself as an East Ender from the East Midlands, a Derbyshire cockney. But I guess that's what Americans expect and relate to, especially with the roles he plays. And kind of roadman culture being everywhere.
Jack's accent is stronger when he's getting into discussing the Lawrence!
I do think about the Sean Bean/Joely Richardson version far too often. Or I did, not so much recently. Though I was young when I watched that. He was almost local - he drank in the Brown Cow in Holbrook sometimes because of friends he made whilst filming Sharpe - some of the Sharpe colleagues my Mum knew from growing up in Somercotes. Vague claims to fame or not. Not a well known area in some ways and yet we are. Chatsworth used as a setting in Pride and Prejudice for example. (Don't talk about Bakewell puddings/tarts.) And I say we, I live in West Yorkshire now.
I hadn't heard of the Chatterley thing or anything much of Jack recently, so I must be in a weird bubble.

Umm they are humans as well😆. Incredibly busy ones at that. I love how down to earth he is. Maybe he eats during the interview because he doesn't care for Emma and the interviewer presses him to boast for her-so inappropriate and uncomfortable how he asks that question. Interviewers are often a bit off/inappropriate with how they phrase questions-sometimes they're fishing for something or pressuring the actor to give a "socially acceptable", answer..instead of the authentic answer they would like to have the freedom to give.

I really like Jack O'Connell as an actor as I appreciate and value his previous performances.
I likewise really did not care for him in this. It's not his fault its the superficiality of the director's vision.
He is NOT the darkly complex, often difficult, beautifully crude and ultimately Phallic Oliver Mellors. Not even close.
LADY CHATTERLEY'S LOVER is a near-tantric paen to the healing powers of meaningful sex and deeply erotic love.
That requires the sensibilities of a Man and a Woman as in Pascale's Ferran's LADY CHATTERLEY (2006).
What we got here were young people just jumped out of a '90s Ambercrombie & Fitch ad.
