I've watched this so many times and still can't get enough of it.. Beautiful plays by Russia and the last goal was simply beutiful by Kovalchuk. Canadian goals seemed pretty cheap to me, not because I don't like their team, but I didn't see much skill in them, more of Russian goalie mistakes. Watching this game makes me happy.

There is only ONE TEAM that as a Canadian I enjoy losing to. Russia! Love their style: fast skating, big time wrist shots and prima donna egos. Probably the most entertaining style of hockey out there. Ovechkin, Kovalchuk, Malkin,Datsyuk, Semin. 2010 is going to be fun!!!

Im a canadian hockey fan threw and threw... but damn Gonchar is one tough mother. Probably one of the toughest in the league.
when people say canada doesn't send their best teams here... 17 players for canada were on the 2010 summer olympic roster (46 in all)
also cam ward was just rated the 3rd best Canadian goalie (7th overall in The Hockey News Top 20 Goalies)

@team1200 not anymore, used to be, but for last 3 years hockey rinks have been dominated by Czhech Rebublic, Russia and Finland. Canada won the olympics ohright, but really hasn't won anything else lately.
And it is on the fourth place on IIHF world ranking right after Sweden, Finland and Russia.

Thats exactly what It means. Most golds = best team. Were not going to win EVERY tournament, but we always bounce back. Usually during IIHF tournamnets all our best players are still playing in the NHL playoffs, so were not fully equipped..

Superb game!! Back and forth, and many goals! Canada did 3-1 and u thought "they win this shit now", and then they did 4-2 and u thought "okay, they can't loose now".
Sadly for the canadians they had Chris Mason in goal.. ;D

@team1200 Yh, u have the most gold medals, but note the fact that u have been playing Hockey since the first world tournament. And Soviet Union had the most gold medals at on point before the country splitted and they had played over 20 years less hockey than Canada. Also other countries have players on playoffs when the tournament is going on.
And Canada was the best only during 1920-1954, then soviet union kicked your asses until it split up in 1991.

@team1200 Not talking about junior tournaments, and even u have won the most, doesn't mean your the best. 1st Canada has played ice hockey since the first world tournament, and also back to the 1960-1980 ice hockey wasn't nearly as big thing in many countries as it is now, so they really didn't have that much experience and didn't play much back then. And by the positions Canada got in last 3 tournaments, dropped them to the 4th place on IIHF ranking list.
A trip at 3:17 wasn't called.

Also maybe Russia has found a goal judge who will turn the light on when Canada scores. (When Paul Henderson scored to win the series 1972 they didn't turn the light on)

No, we only care about the IIHF World Junior Championships, in which we had won 5 gold medals in a row (sadly loosing to the USA last year and breaking our streak)
Canada has a lot to be proud of, we invented the telephone, radio, blackberry, were an energy super power, the 14 gold medals we won, our famous people, canada liberating holland ext.... there so much to be proud of when being a Canadian.
There both strong teams, but in the Olympics, Canada was stronger

I do agree wit you on a certain extent that hockey is a Canadian sport. You have to realize that they lost to a good Russian team. Wat about those other times that Canada lost to Sweden in the 1994 Olympics in Norway, or the time they lost on their own soil to the US in the World Cup in 96? Yea, I know that they beat the US in 2002. Russia will always give Canada a run for their money.
At least, i'm sure that during our Olympics nobody will die in the luge competition, athlets will live in the fantastic rooms and not like in Vancouver, athlets will eat what they want, and not McDonalds shit like in Vancouver. I promis it will be great Olympics in history.

Ovechkin didn't make anything for our team on this competition. Russia's hockey is fastest in the world and most creative.
it left strange feeling for me that russia won, because i hoped that canada would have won, because they played in canada, but in different point of view, i am happy for russia, because they havent won anything for long time.
