Thank you for the great video. Ernesto Perez-Carillo is such a charismatic person, I love to watch all his videos. And everyone is free to have his or her own opinion on how to cut or smoke a cigar, but personally I would rather look at the man himself who created these great cigars, when looking for maximum enjoyment! I'm very thankful that I have a chance to enjoy these marvellous cigars here in cold Finland too!
I love how people will seriously come to a video with E.P. Carrillo and be like "yOu'Re DoInG iT wRoNg!!¡!" 😂🤣😂 I'ma have to stick to the master over some random in a comment section. What Ernesto Perez-Carrillo has done for cigars is more than I could even pretend to remember right now to even get into, but suffice it to say he shaped what we know as premium handmade cigars in more ways than one and for the better 💯 You might do it different, bit he ain't do it wrong lol
Great advise for every advise you haters comment in the video: "Take what is worthy to you and leave what you don't like" The same as you go for a visit to your granma and eat nothing but fruits but complain about all the food she made for you.✌
Neither did Churchill regularly (ever?) smoke torpedos- which cannot be pierced with a match. Churchill also used to run a reamer down the middle of the cigar to make the draw very open. So what's the point?
That's Ernesto Perez Carrillo...whether he's right or wrong about whatever he's Ernesto Perez Carrillo one of the most respected master blenders of fine tobacco in the world....THAT'S all that matters here...

@@blusnuby2 well he was concentrating on what he was saying and lighting the cigar. Guillotine on torpedoes and a Rose Cut on the other's using the "V" cutter.
I'll do you one even better. I've been smoking over 30 years and every great once in a while I get that hiccup too. I think it comes from smoking too fast and swallowing a bit of air.
I would say that cutting that much off of a Torpedo is a waste. It will ruin the flavor, the flow path, the aroma even will not be the same. Having the tube of the cigar tighten at the end of the cap of a Torpedo if properly cut like any other cigar, being that you only cut behind the edge of the cap, ensures that the Torpedo will be enjoyed how it is supposed to. To me that is, every man is free to enjoy his stick how he likes.
I find it comical that's so many people on here believe they know the best way to cut a torpedo cigar although this man's name is literally on the cigar because he makes cigars, lol I'm pretty sure he knows what he's doing lmfao
It depends on several things, like brand of cigar, the 'recipe of tobacco leaves' making up the cigar, the dryness of the leaves, humidity of environment, etc...A quality 'Churchill size' cigar (48/ring x 7 inches) can usually last up to 2 hours.
@@bearajay4648 I have only had 6 stick in my life and even I think it’s to much. But I guess that’s the point of cigars is do what you like and makes you feel right
You purge the harsh smoke generated from lighting the cigar. If the cigar is too hot, like if you’re putting a lighter to the tip while sucking in, the smoke gets harsh so you clear the chamber to get the best experience.
Personally, I am not a cigar man myself. However, I pride myself in my ability to chop down trees and carve them into the shape of a cigar (A Treegar). That way, I keep that classic cigar look without that gross tobacco taste (OPINION ALERT, HATERS!) I have a collection I keep to the left of the toilet in my basement, unfortunately the misses doesn’t like seeing the treegars out in a public part of the house. No worries, I just put on the latest Harry Styles album and stare at my cool picture of Mao and smoke my Treegar.
An inch off a torpedo? C'mon dude! You've just waisted the skill it took to roll it. The whole purpose for the shape is to funnel flavor. Just smoke a Toro!
Absolutely, can't believe he did that. He just cut off the part of the construction that accounts for the extra ~15% of production cost and the part that requires only the most skilled torcedors to roll. They are not rolled that way to look 'fancy'. The point of a Torpedo shape is to deliver more concentrated flavors to the palate, achieved by channeling the smoke through the point of the cigar. Because most Torpedo cigars (more accurately, Figurados - 'shaped' but all with tapers) are a wider ring gauge, this gives the blender the space to mix a wider variety (and larger quantity) of tobaccos, resulting in deeper layers of complexity. I occasionally use a V cut (certain brands if a straight cut is too hard of a draw or is a certain strength), but I prefer a straight cut, partly for a more concentrated draw but mostly because I like the shape better in my mouth. Depending on the taper, I'll usually straight-cut to no more than half the diameter of the body. My wife does the same as well, but will V-cut different brands as I do.
No way, are you THE Mr Carrillo? Your Pledge cigars are legendary!
He is and they are a great cigar.
I enjoy the same process of lighting, taking time to bring in the aroma before bringing it to my mouth. Such a treat!

Ernesto. You just converted that cigar into a Perejo. 😂
Aroma, both exhaled and off the lit end is 1/3 of the taste...the mouth / taste buds the other third and the nose exhale the last third.

Churchill never used a cigar cutter in his life (preferring to instead use a match to hollow out a hole) so this is wrong immediately.
Neither did Churchill regularly (ever?) smoke torpedos- which cannot be pierced with a match. Churchill also used to run a reamer down the middle of the cigar to make the draw very open. So what's the point?

Smoke a cigar, not cut a cigar. Go away tool.

how long does it take to smoke a 6" cigar?
Hi. It can take about 45 minutes to an hour. Depends.
It depends on several things, like brand of cigar, the 'recipe of tobacco leaves' making up the cigar, the dryness of the leaves, humidity of environment, etc...A quality 'Churchill size' cigar (48/ring x 7 inches) can usually last up to 2 hours.
Average is one draw a minute, the length, ring size etc. So it will vary .
Class act
Winston Churchill's cigar smoking was a bit of showmanship. He was always photographed or filmed with a barely smoked cigar.
So he cut about 1 inch of a torpedo which basically turns it into a normal style cigar
Cut off a bit more than he should have
