Thanks for the advice. The course sounds interesting. I've struggled with my 2 1/2 year old reactive rescued Frenchie for 1/2 years. He had already been returned to the shelter twice for reactivity. I promised him I would not send him away. He is so loving and well behaved until he sees a dog/squirrel/cat etc. Then he lunges, barks, screams. and could care less about anything but getting to the thing that he thinks he wants. Confusing enough, he plays beautifully with my son's Lab and Pit. Have spent over 2k on trainers and gimmicks to no avail. There is no way I can afford to spend $697 on a video course. 😟 Sorry if TMI
A few weeks ago I started to walk 2 Frenchies. One (f) is 9 month old, lovely, playful but still has a looot to learn, and the other one (m) is 3 years old, good on the leash but the owners told me he doesn't like other dogs or strangers. I only walk them ones a day sometimes from Mo-Fri and sometimes only 1 or 2 times a week when the owners are at work. I always keep them on a leash because they don't listen to any orders, and as far as I can tell, the owners are not really concerned to train them correctly. Last time I walked them, we came across another dogowner and the 3 year old Frenchie went into full berserk mode while the 9 month old female was barking, jumping and pulling playfully on the leash when she saw the other dog. I tried to correct him, but that made him attack me. I then tried to put him on the ground by holding his collar, but it was quite difficult to handle him and the other Frenchie at the same time. He was able to free himself from me, and tried to attack and bite me again. I somewhat got him under control by passing by the other dog with a few meters distance between us, but what a fight. I was very strict with him after that situation and he had to walk right next to me until we reached their home (I always keep them on a short leash right next to me while walking on the sidewalk, but let them run on the long leash when walking through the woods). The owners are very nice people, but the first day we met, they told me they are looking for a dogwalker who walks them for an hour/day when called, nothing else, no training... They even complaint to me over another dogwalker who offered them to participate on dog training courses... I will always correct misbehaving when I walk them, but if the owners don't do their part in training them, my efforts will have no affect on the dogs...
@Fenrir French Bulldog Show My French Bulldog is very protective when people are near me when I take her on a walk or if someone walks past. How can I train her to stop and not be so protective even if someone comes to my house, I have to put her in a room to stop her from attacking.
Hi my sister's 12 month old Frenchie just finished her first heat back in mid January of 2021, and since then has developed levels of food aggression, and aggression towards myself sometimes for no reason, she has already bitten myself and our mother at least once. Just today she snapped at me after I finished giving her a pet on the head, the kind a snap your would here when 2 dogs get into a fight, for no reason at that. Any advice would be much appreciated
My sister has 4 frenchies. 2 males and 2 females. The youngest is a deaf male and he is 3 1/2 yrs old . He has been attacked by the older female. She attacks because she is food aggressive and does not like when attention to her disrupted or if she is calm and someone steps into her area. The deaf male is now attacking her unprovoked. He has gone through at least one trainer as it is difficult finding someone who can work with deaf dogs. I dont know what else we can do.
Fair play mate this is very helpful bro. I want a boerboel I have 3 frenchies but I'm struggling with them at the moment makes me sad as I've always wanted a boerboel or english bullmastiff but cant bring myself to get a big dog
I've just taken on an abused frenchie he's amazing in everyway apart from when he's playing with his toy he then attacks and has bitten us how can I try stop this 😢
Yes thanks. My dog's have their own beds, but I do let them on the the sofa and sometimes on the bed. Is this destroying all the work we've done? Thanks Tracey
My Frenchie “randomly” attacks dogs. He’ll be fine but seems to snap sometimes. He accidentally bit me and I had to get emergency surgery. I’m terrified that he’s going to get another bite on his record wether it’s a human or a dog
I had to have my frenchie put down for biting. We gave him more than one chance, got him professionally trained but he bit for a third time. The second bit was me. I was told once a dog bites, they don’t then change to something else, they always bite. Sad but I believe it now.
I have recently adopted a 2 yr old frenchie . Sadly he had not been trained proper and has become highly aggressive hence why he was rehomed to me ..please help he's such a beautiful little boy and I want him to have best life
Yes fighting OMG Im heart broken 🥺 My two frenchies are almost six months old males frenchies and now they are fighting, Well one atacks and the other one tries to protect himself. A frenchie is teasing and like treathen with his eyes like he is the dominant, he gave him a literal death stare tries to intimidate him bite him they fight with their face and the other one is just so scare😭😭😭 I'm so sad about having to brake them apart because they could hurt each other until now they been just playing around getting along so well and I tried to treat them the same cause I din't want any of them to get jelous spoild them the same if one of them gets a new toy so the other one One gets a snack so the other one. I'm so sad now I know this is kinda normal since they are two males but still I wish I could find a way to not separate them they are brothers😭😭😭😭
My two frenchie could have their own toy but they both want what the other has. It’s gotten to the point that they’re snapping and growling. The boy is 8 months and the female is 14 months. They use to share but it’s becoming a problem for them to share now.
You know we used to be able just to go to the library and get a book and learn something. Now if we want to learn something we have to freaking pay for it like why can’t I just go onto the Internet and find information that I’m looking for to help me become a better leader, and help my Frenchy become less aggressive and reactive to other dogs? It’s so frustrating I’ve spent three days now on the Internet looking for videos that could help and everybody just put the sales pitch videos up like a funnel add I just want to learn and I shouldn’t have to pay $700 to do that. Looks like Google sucks. back to the library I go get a real book.
My 9 month old female frenchie started her season 2 weeks ago and is trying to KILL my 4 year old female pug.. they have gone from living happily together to having to keep them separate in under a week. The frenchies eyes turn black and she becomes 100% focused on the pug, total tunnel vision.. I have never been scared of a dog, but now scared of this 15kg puppy..
