His music wasn't even good. DBZ is about fighting alien overlords and high tech spaceships and time machines, and his music just didn't fit well with it. It sounded way too old fashioned, even for the 90s.
Transformations, Planet busting fights, multiple universes, alien tyrants, bio androids, regular androids, gods, demons, shape shifting animals, giant apes, epic fighting tournaments, fusions, alien teams that pose alot, time traveling. All of this started because a teenage girl shot a boy in the face.

Master Roshi was just being very nice when he said Yamcha is in no condition to fight in the piccilo saga. The truth of the matter was that Yamcha would have been Yamcha'd no matter what.
***** Super Saiyans weren't around in Dragon Ball and Yamcha still helped out during the Pilaf Saga. Not to mention he was still good enough to get into the tournaments and all that.

SuperBad97 We don’t. It’s just a fact that in DB all the major fights had actual strategy and application of martial arts to overcome an enemy (with the inclusion of some lasers). All of the DBZ & Super main fights end in either a blast and are primarily just punching and kicking and little tactics involved.
If you watch the fighting-scenes you realize that they are ACTUALLY FIGHTING. The moves were comprehensible and the coreographies - espacially at the tournaments - were simply fantastic. Just to point one out: The fight between Tien and Yamcha. It was also great that Dragonball really was about friedship and ADVENTURE and not just watch different people changing their hairstyles. They improved through hard training and learning instead of charging up their crazy superpowers.
+Gabrielle Kpanlin As a child, he doesnt know what girls are, what marriage is, what running in zig-zag is.... he literally knows nothing because he grows up with his grandpa in the forests. And that was just super cute :)
That's how I feel about all of DB, including DBZ. I didn't watch any of the series in the franchise until I was 23 (I'm 30 now) and yet I feel a strange sort of childhood nostalgia over it.
There’s just something about Dragon Ball that just makes me so, so damn happy. Something so endearing that no matter the era, no matter the form, just seeing Goku’s big dumb smile is always enough to bring me pure joy. I owe so much to Dragon ball and it will always have the most special place in my heart. Thank you Akira Toriyama.
I wasn't a huge Dragon Ball Z fan, but I really enjoyed Dragon Ball. DBZ always kind of had this shroud of seriousness hovering over it, while Dragon Ball was just a fun and lighthearted show most of the time.
The best thing about DB was that fights were actually about skills, intelligence, training and techniques, not only power levels. The winner was the most skilled fighter, not the one which could release the greatest amount of ki.

I'll admit to never watching Dragon Ball when the DBZ craze hit the states, but I did watch it much later down the line and I must say it's damn good. Would I say better then the DBZ series? Personally I don't think you could compare the two since Dragon Ball is clearly about adventure, while as DBZ is all about power leveling. Its apples and oranges essentially. I will admit Dragon Ball is fun seeing Goku overcome adversity instead of the constantly power level struggle of "A New Challenger Has Arrived!"
I think the original Dragon Ball is better,IMO.People really don't reference all that often though.Dragon Ball is more popular in the manga; while Dragon Ball Z obviously more popular in anime.I do miss dem days when Goku wasn't known as a Saiyan.Ya know...back then you could compare anime characters on who will win instead of saying "Goku will go SSJ3 on your butt!"
Dragon ball was originally inspired by journey to the west featuring the monkey king flying cloud giant staff bansho fann that creates rain and storms yup even a shapshifting man pig and that gored that terror and plague used monkey king got stuck in one aswell he used the bansho fan to expel the mist and launch himself out like a bullet where goku peed in the bottle the main reason the show was good and always will be is because it took notes from a timless tale that every whos seen loves dbz was trying a whole new thing entierly and akira toryama definitely made it work
I've started with Dragonball and luckily DBZ just arrived when I finished with the last episodes of the original DB. I was totally fascinated by the world of Dragonball, Toriyama has created something so enjoyable with great characters. And I was at the right age to be totally blown away by DBZ too. I love both, but if I'd have to choose, I'd always go with the original DB, Z has lots of fillers and if you know who's going to win, it's not that interesting anymore. I wish I could erase my memory of Dragonball and relive the whole anime again.
The tournament of power better end with goku giving a kamehameha headbutt to the chest towards jiren knock him out of the ring before he can even react, as this music plays while goku approaches.
Close... Gohan does sacrifice himself so his mortal childhood enemy could blast the third to last member of an elite team of warriors... just like Goku did at the start of Z!

I feel like people are mad that the franchise changes, that DBZ wasn't exactly like DB. DB was a fantasy martial arts adventure. DBZ was a scifi adventure. Different stories! If it were same-old same-old, the franchise would have gotten stale.
I just feel like dbz has the same repetitive end of the world plots with the stakes being to high and no comedy moments in between fights except the gotenks vs super buu fight which was one of my favorite fights just because of some of the comedy in it
First DBZ is Space Fantasy not Scifi after all they still use "MAGIC" and theres no science arround! Also when it comes to music i hope we can agree that not keepin any consistent Main Theme is Stupid!
Something about this song just feels so perfectly... "childhood". Like, I didn't even watch Dragon Ball as a little kid, I only got into it a lot later, and yet something about this theme immediately fills me with such a strong sense of youthful nostalgia, it's absolutely magical. It's so playful, energetic, and rambunctious, and captures little Goku perfectly.
This ost captures the feel of the OG Dragon ball so well, but I love how the second half screams Goku. It captures him beautifully with that wondrous and childlike personality he's had since he was a kid
Back when Dragon Ball was just “martial arts, hyah! Defeat the bad guys” but now it’s “the universe is gonna get destroyed you punch the enemy’s face before he pounds your face with a strike not even gods can comprehend” which I still respect
This is so catchy if the dragonballs were real i would search for them listening to this. i can see why they made gt trying to catch that fun adventure of kid goku and friends but it just didn't work out too well, not saying gt is bad but it's not very good either. I wish there was more dragonball :( it got to Z way too fast.
GT actually isn't too bad for being what it is. I like the designs. Especially Goku, something about kid Goku is that much more cheerful than adult Goku. They got the aesthetic right. But man, the script was terrible lol. Another reason I think it wasn't liked is how old some of the characters got. Krillin had a gray mustache and it was just depressing 😂 Vegeta's mustache was even worse, but he shaved it pretty quick

i love how so many cry about how goku has changed, but actually - he fullfilled his dreams. he wanted to be stronger and as someone who watched him grow up i'm proud of him and i'll look foward to what he'll become in the future... (i have no friends i need this rofl)
Dragon Ball is easily one of the most charming shows ever. I enjoy the shows animation, humor, and light-heartedness even as an adult. Its a shame young kids today don't have it.

I think the original Dragon Ball is better,IMO.People really don't reference all that often though.Dragon Ball is more popular in the manga; while Dragon Ball Z obviously more popular in anime.I do miss dem days when Goku wasn't known as a Saiyan.Ya know...back then you could compare anime characters on who will win instead of saying "Goku will go SSJ3 on your butt!"
Honestly i think the whole point of the anime was Guko making friends and protecting them being the hero of the day everyday
Dragon ball was originally inspired by journey to the west featuring the monkey king flying cloud giant staff bansho fann that creates rain and storms yup even a shapshifting man pig and that gored that terror and plague used monkey king got stuck in one aswell he used the bansho fan to expel the mist and launch himself out like a bullet where goku peed in the bottle the main reason the show was good and always will be is because it took notes from a timless tale that every whos seen loves dbz was trying a whole new thing entierly and akira toryama definitely made it work
I've started with Dragonball and luckily DBZ just arrived when I finished with the last episodes of the original DB.
I was totally fascinated by the world of Dragonball, Toriyama has created something so enjoyable with great characters. And I was at the right age to be totally blown away by DBZ too. I love both, but if I'd have to choose, I'd always go with the original DB, Z has lots of fillers and if you know who's going to win, it's not that interesting anymore.
I wish I could erase my memory of Dragonball and relive the whole anime again.
The tournament of power better end with goku giving a kamehameha headbutt to the chest towards jiren knock him out of the ring before he can even react, as this music plays while goku approaches.

I feel like people are mad that the franchise changes, that DBZ wasn't exactly like DB. DB was a fantasy martial arts adventure. DBZ was a scifi adventure.
Different stories! If it were same-old same-old, the franchise would have gotten stale.
I just feel like dbz has the same repetitive end of the world plots with the stakes being to high and no comedy moments in between fights except the gotenks vs super buu fight which was one of my favorite fights just because of some of the comedy in it
First DBZ is Space Fantasy not Scifi after all they still use "MAGIC" and theres no science arround!
Also when it comes to music i hope we can agree that not keepin any consistent Main Theme is Stupid!

Like, I didn't even watch Dragon Ball as a little kid, I only got into it a lot later, and yet something about this theme immediately fills me with such a strong sense of youthful nostalgia, it's absolutely magical. It's so playful, energetic, and rambunctious, and captures little Goku perfectly.

This is so catchy if the dragonballs were real i would search for them listening to this.
i can see why they made gt trying to catch that fun adventure of kid goku and friends but it just didn't work out too well, not saying gt is bad but it's not very good either.

GT actually isn't too bad for being what it is. I like the designs. Especially Goku, something about kid Goku is that much more cheerful than adult Goku. They got the aesthetic right. But man, the script was terrible lol. Another reason I think it wasn't liked is how old some of the characters got. Krillin had a gray mustache and it was just depressing 😂 Vegeta's mustache was even worse, but he shaved it pretty quick

Dragon Ball is easily one of the most charming shows ever. I enjoy the shows animation, humor, and light-heartedness even as an adult. Its a shame young kids today don't have it.
