    I know this is an old video but I do want to take a minute out to just say THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting this video. There's very little information about this problem online, and I just bought a Playstation 1 off ebay that was supposedly working but the video for me was black. After resoldering this specific chip the video now works.
    I doubt I could have figured this out without this video, so again, thank you so much.

    Great video. Kind of hard to believe that open connection was the issue though, usually what i have seen is that when IC pins get heated up (reflowed) the IC appears to be working for a while just to fail again after a short time. Is this PS1 still working and has it been used for a good while? I dont see small ic like that just getting open connection out of nowhere.. Could be wrong of course..

      @@rainbowrepair5692 thats nice then! I have had bad pins on PS1 RAM once, that was causing artifacts on screen, but that was because of previous owner removing back mb shielding and some screws (probably during modchip install).

    Hi Rainbow Repair. VERY VERY helpful video. This helped me fix a freebie my friend picked up. After I put it back together I think I will give it back to him, as I have very little room for stuff. On mine, one chip labeled SONY needs to be re-flowed. I press down on it and the thing boots up fine. It doesn't output component though. I'm not sure if that is an issue with the TV or the console. But I will do more testing when I get it back together. Thanks for this video, this is THE video that helped.

    Thank you very much for the video. My question is, how to place down the pinned outlet (which connects the laser unit to the board) as the pinned part came out and it no longer can stick down on its own onto the board, thanks for the answer.

    Followed your steps after removing the shielding and plugging in both controller and power ribbons to the PCB I get video out! What would be the next step in my case?
    Edit: I put the PS1 back together. Booted and again black screen. Until I remove the Ribbon to the laser unit and boot up can get a video out. After putting back the ribbon laser I can boot a few times but it can't read discs, after a few times booting it up, again I will get a black screen. not sure what the issue is
    Edit2: I read a weird post where you can get your PS1 working upside-down... :D sounds stupid but worked for me. Now to troubleshoot how to fix that why does it only work upside-down!!?

      @mchagnon7 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Flux is the brown stuff in the jar you see in the top left. basically apply it to the surface that you want to solder, and when it heats up, it will help guide the flow of solder to wherever there is flux. If possible you should try to clean up the surface before applying.
