Lauren and fellow commentators. I recently learned to shred brussel sprouts like you would cabbage for slaw and you can have it raw in your fav slaw mixture. But my current go to is shred them and fry or bake in the oven with oil (or butter) onion (and or garlic leek, shallots) and your favorite herbs and spices (curried is fun) and you can add anything else you like, (I check my fridge for things I want to use up) be creative and taste as it's progressing and do all the adjustments. Not sure what happened but her having a bad day and having a sour attitude is something she needs to deal with instead of projecting it on another person. I’ll be honest, I’ve done what she did to you to family members because I’ve been in a bad mood or frustrated. It’s not fair to them and I always go back and apologize. I will say, if you shop the digital deals, weekly specials, and coupons with Kroger (Fred Meyer) you can save a lot of money. I do it through the app and it attaches the coupons to my Kroger card so I don’t have to worry about print coupons. (It doesn’t take your coupon discounts off until everything’s been scanned, so don’t be alarmed if you don’t see it in the running total.) we don’t have a Costco in my town. They’re harder to find in the South. So my shopping choices are Kroger, Aldi, and Walmart.
I keep a Sam's Club membership for bulk buying of certain things. I am a single person but was raised in a very large family that required large quantities of food so I was taught to shop big, store in the pantry and always be prepared for emergencies. Also from a farming family so food storage was huge whether freezing, canning, dry goods or store bought meat, produce, fruit, ect. The meat and produce were farm raised by our family as were some of the fruits so processing and preserving it all took time and effort by the whole family. And we all got to enjoy it, whether during family gatherings at the grandparents home or what was sent home with us on harvest day or there after.
So sorry you had to go through that.. was upsetting to see you get so emotional. Don't take it to heart, those sort of people are just unhappy in their lives and take it out on the kindhearted good people like you x

Lauren, I am so sorry you had a negative response from somebody you tried to help 😢 My Dad used to say “remember you never know what someone is going through behind closed doors,” and I try to remember this when people are rude, angry, upset etc. Irrespective of that they have no right to be so rude that it left you shaken, nervous and close to tears. I wanted to jump through the screen give them a piece of my mind and give you a big hug ❤. Even though you continued on filming you could tell that the encounter left you feeling very unnerved and it severely bothered you😕 I didn’t like seeing you like this 😢 You are such a sweet natured, warm giving person and you treat people with kindness and respect just look at how you interact with Gary for example. I know we are your online “family” and we personally don’t know you but we are still protective of you and your feelings. That was so wrong of that person to take their mood out on you 😡

Hi Lauren, I live in Melbourne (Sunny) Australia, your prices are a little cheaper than here. The cost of our normal everyday food has increased so much since the pandemic. A lot of people here are struggling to put food on the table. This is something we are not used to. Fingers crossed prices will come down. Generally when prices go up they rarely come down. Sending lots of good wishes you way.....
Lots of people do as you do Lauren and do their shopping at Costco... all over the world. We do the same as you, here in UK. I just don't care that some things work out a little cheaper elsewhere. We can't hunt and don't fish, which usually means lots of dividing up of large packs for our two person household when I get the groceries home, but Costco consistently has top quality meat, fish and produce, and price-wise it often does come out at least even with our big chain supermarkets. So I say, carry on doing what works for you! But a price comparison is always interesting. Well done for recovering so well from your upset. Sometimes it replays in your head for a long time afterwards. I find it helps to remember that you weren't the cause of the upset so don't end up carrying around the negativity that other people try to offload on you. How lovely to meet Shannon, who was delightful and must've helped you recover your equilibrium. 👍

I live in Hawaii. I also buy the majority of my groceries at Costco or Sam's. Yes, we belong to both. Most people in Hawaii belong to one or both. (The Honolulu Costco is said to be the busiest in the world. ) Then, I buy fill in and sale items at Safeway. There is a HUGE difference in price between Costco & regular grocery store here too. Maybe there's not the huge savings in every state, but it sure is a huge savings for those of us with limited shopping choices.
You are making this a lot tougher than it needs to be. First, Fred Meyers, even the Anchorage stores, have ALL the prices on line. If you keep their app open while shopping at Costco, you know which one is cheaper. Second, you could cut your time in half by placing the order from home ONLINE and picking up your order curbside. As long as you spend $35, there is no fee involved even in Alaska. We started doing that during the pandemic where ten households would place a common order and have one person head up to grab the order. Third, we shop the ads using the FLIPP app on our phones. We put together our shopping list on Monday nights for the following week so we can incorporate any stops into our usual routine.
You are very on top of things! I will have to try out online shopping with Fred Myer again! This video was just for our viewers to see the difference in prices, I do not do this type of shopping and comparing regularly.
@@ThisAlaskaLife I only bring this up because once the pandemic hit, we avoided going into grocery stores other than during the overnight hours when noone was around. Online shopping allowed us to price shop ALL of the local grocery stores and let us put it to bed which chains were actually cheaper and on what categories. Personally, I prefer to shop in-store as you can find the markdown produce, baked goods, etc like the $0.99/lb Kroger boneless ham yesterday. I would die of shock on those produce prices. The rest of the prices looked a lot better than I would have expected.

They’re harder to find in the South. So my shopping choices are Kroger, Aldi, and Walmart.
I keep a Sam's Club membership for bulk buying of certain things. I am a single person but was raised in a very large family that required large quantities of food so I was taught to shop big, store in the pantry and always be prepared for emergencies. Also from a farming family so food storage was huge whether freezing, canning, dry goods or store bought meat, produce, fruit, ect. The meat and produce were farm raised by our family as were some of the fruits so processing and preserving it all took time and effort by the whole family. And we all got to enjoy it, whether during family gatherings at the grandparents home or what was sent home with us on harvest day or there after.
So sorry you had to go through that.. was upsetting to see you get so emotional. Don't take it to heart, those sort of people are just unhappy in their lives and take it out on the kindhearted good people like you x

Lauren, I am so sorry you had a negative response from somebody you tried to help 😢 My Dad used to say “remember you never know what someone is going through behind closed doors,” and I try to remember this when people are rude, angry, upset etc. Irrespective of that they have no right to be so rude that it left you shaken, nervous and close to tears. I wanted to jump through the screen give them a piece of my mind and give you a big hug ❤. Even though you continued on filming you could tell that the encounter left you feeling very unnerved and it severely bothered you😕 I didn’t like seeing you like this 😢 You are such a sweet natured, warm giving person and you treat people with kindness and respect just look at how you interact with Gary for example. I know we are your online “family” and we personally don’t know you but we are still protective of you and your feelings. That was so wrong of that person to take their mood out on you 😡

Just to let you know, some people might be rude without even realizing they are... my bf had a stroke and for 5 years afterwards she was a different person, even verbally attacking me on a daily basis.
It hurt, but I knew her brain had been damaged so I sometimes cried but always tried to let it go because I knew she could not help it.
God called her home last year, and I'd give anything to have her here still with me, yelling at me!🥺

Hi Lauren, I live in Melbourne (Sunny) Australia, your prices are a little cheaper than here. The cost of our normal everyday food has increased so much since the pandemic. A lot of people here are struggling to put food on the table. This is something we are not used to. Fingers crossed prices will come down. Generally when prices go up they rarely come down. Sending lots of good wishes you way.....
Costco is expensive here, l usually go to Docklands for specific items, and l would never do a regular shop there.
Lots of people do as you do Lauren and do their shopping at Costco... all over the world. We do the same as you, here in UK. I just don't care that some things work out a little cheaper elsewhere. We can't hunt and don't fish, which usually means lots of dividing up of large packs for our two person household when I get the groceries home, but Costco consistently has top quality meat, fish and produce, and price-wise it often does come out at least even with our big chain supermarkets. So I say, carry on doing what works for you! But a price comparison is always interesting. Well done for recovering so well from your upset. Sometimes it replays in your head for a long time afterwards. I find it helps to remember that you weren't the cause of the upset so don't end up carrying around the negativity that other people try to offload on you. How lovely to meet Shannon, who was delightful and must've helped you recover your equilibrium. 👍

I live in Hawaii. I also buy the majority of my groceries at Costco or Sam's. Yes, we belong to both. Most people in Hawaii belong to one or both. (The Honolulu Costco is said to be the busiest in the world. ) Then, I buy fill in and sale items at Safeway. There is a HUGE difference in price between Costco & regular grocery store here too. Maybe there's not the huge savings in every state, but it sure is a huge savings for those of us with limited shopping choices.

You are making this a lot tougher than it needs to be. First, Fred Meyers, even the Anchorage stores, have ALL the prices on line. If you keep their app open while shopping at Costco, you know which one is cheaper. Second, you could cut your time in half by placing the order from home ONLINE and picking up your order curbside. As long as you spend $35, there is no fee involved even in Alaska. We started doing that during the pandemic where ten households would place a common order and have one person head up to grab the order. Third, we shop the ads using the FLIPP app on our phones. We put together our shopping list on Monday nights for the following week so we can incorporate any stops into our usual routine.
You are very on top of things! I will have to try out online shopping with Fred Myer again! This video was just for our viewers to see the difference in prices, I do not do this type of shopping and comparing regularly.
@@ThisAlaskaLife I only bring this up because once the pandemic hit, we avoided going into grocery stores other than during the overnight hours when noone was around. Online shopping allowed us to price shop ALL of the local grocery stores and let us put it to bed which chains were actually cheaper and on what categories. Personally, I prefer to shop in-store as you can find the markdown produce, baked goods, etc like the $0.99/lb Kroger boneless ham yesterday. I would die of shock on those produce prices. The rest of the prices looked a lot better than I would have expected.
