      So glad it was helpful!! Just to make sure, if you are staying in the transit hotel, then you will need to stay at the boarding area as we did and not be able to go outside to explore the city. You'll still have a good time though, that's one of our favorite airports for sure 😄 Have fun!

    I'm going to Japan later this year. On the way to LA, I got a layover in Seoul Incheon. It's only 4 hours, but I'm going to get a decent amount of Won, so I can get a decent meal. Then I can get some shopping for souvenirs and treats. Also in LA, I stay in Korea Town across the street from the mall. It's like my way station, before I Amtrak it further inland. So I go to H-Mart to buy food and drinks for the train. It's going to be quite an adjustment from superior fast and efficient Asian trains, to rickety and consistently late Amtrak.

    I'm leaving from Korea to Japan for a few days to just visit Tokyo and we have a flight actually going back to America from Tokyo with Incheon being the layover. So I was wondering if it's possible to leave my check in luggage at a relative's place in seoul and when I come back for the layover, go to my relatives place to pick up the luggage and check my bags in like that?

  • @charlesbrenan6269

    Incheon's impressive in terms of efficiency and cleanliness - but not many food outlets airside in T1. And since the end of restrictions, it took an hour of queuing to get through immigration (March 24). Best Western hotel is a good bet - free transfer from T1 and only 5 mins.

  • @riaconradt2554

    Does this mean the baggages need to be collected and are not checked through? I have an overnight lay-over in Incheon and was planning to go to Seoul to stay the night there. Also, do you know if the places/facilities in the airport open in the late night and early morning?

    Very good next year they will get rid of that long layover but there might be a few its the connecting planes that had to shift the 11 hr lay over as more flight move in then the 11 hours will be 2 hour lay over thanks again I only got a 1.5 lay over I had avoided that layover by flying in to Japan

Did you fly on Korean Airlines, and if so, what plane did you fly on? Secondly, Did you take a day flight out of LAX or a night flight? Could you confirm if you are allow to leave the airport and tour around the city while in Korea airport during this layover and still during Covid?
    I have a 12 hours layover coming up and plan to go outside the airport and tour the city? Then, what are the requirements?

    • @HobartsAbroad
      @HobartsAbroad  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes, you can leave. We left the airport ourselves - our issue was that we had reservations at the transit hotel, which is inside the boarding area and we didn't realize it so we ended up going back in and could not leave the boarding area again. But if you are arriving from another destination, you can go to immigration (most just need a K-eta visa, which you can easily get online) and you're good to leave and explore.
      They may also require you to take a covid test after you arrive - just keep that in mind.
      Happy travels :)

    Hi thank you for your video but I really your assistance. I’ll be in Japan next week. On my way back to Manila, I’ll be traveling from Narita to Incheon via Jeju Air around 11pm. Then my flight to Manila via Cebu Pacific is the next morning around 8am.
    I do have checked-in baggage in Jeju Air. How will I claim it and transfer it to Cebu Pac? Are the Departure and Arrival separated in Incheon? I would really appreciate your response. I am a Philippine national and I don't have a Korean visa.

    • @HobartsAbroad
      @HobartsAbroad  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you bought separate flights or if your flights are from separate airlines, you probably need to exit the transit area, get your checked-in bag, then re-checkin for your next flight. That means that you would indeed need a visa (k-eta), which is easy to get and very inexpensive as well.
      If your flights are through the same airline and you purchase the ticket together (1 confirmation code), then you don't need to pick up your bag. You would need to remain in the transit area during your layover (no visa required), then just proceed to your next gate because you should already have your boarding pass. BUT PLEASE DON'T QUOTE ME ON THAT - Check with your airline to confirm. Safe travels!
