I use to live here with my family up until 2008. I was only in kindergarten when we lost our house in the financial and housing crisis and became homeless but I have a lot of wonderful memories of my dad taking me to the abandoned rail area with all the train cars and sitting on the front porch during hot summer evenings and listening to bats fly overhead in massive numbers. Thank you for this video, it’s nice to see someone sympathize with small hurting towns like jacumba and shine some light on its wonderful history
I have always wondered about the Desert View Tower. WOW - now I absolutely have to stop there!! That's my kind of place to explore!!! Thanks for sharing. Also, thanks for the stickers. I put one on my cup and I think of you both and all your adventures. It puts a smile on my face!!!
this was an awesome video. great info of the history , would love to see it restored and use it as a historic place of the past , it could be a gold mine . thanks for sharing .
My cousin lives there and she reports there is some AMAZING pie at one of the stores there...I'll find out when we visit in April so you guys can give it a go the next time you visit the area!
It is vital that we preserve our rural way of life by rebuilding our local government. We have got to collaborate with our family, friends, and neighbors and vote as a block in order to put good freedom loving American Patriots into our local government.
The worst irreplaceable damage is to the Cryptobiotic soil. This is a very fragile, dry soil that is vital for healthy desserts. Once it is damaged it can take 5,000 to 10,000 years to regrow. The simple act of walking on top of this type of soil causes the damage. The entire area along the border is now in a permanent state of crisis compounded by all the substances, litter, clothing and other articles thrown on the desert floor and in all our washes which will at some point either be gathered up causing more damage to the soils or it will lie there as a permanent scar to a once pristine landscape.

Wow, you lived there? Did you hike there?
Also, do you know who crashed the market, like individual-wise?

We think maybe you’re thinking of Julian. Where they specialize in pies! Jacumba has one general store and nothing else 😞
Sad these places from History just disappear....
We feel them same. This is why we love finding these kinda places and sharing them.

This is sad. Thanks for making us aware. We try to leave no trace where ever we visit 💗
