While I was playing the Native American Flute at Lake Dardanelle I could hear many birds singing returning the call of the flute. This was not unusual the birds often sing along with the voice of the Native American flute and I remarked to Deborah "Do you hear them?" About half way through the second song in the chorus of many different types of birds near and far in the distance I heard what I thought were the voices of eagles getting closer. At the end of the song I asked Deborah "Are those Eagles in the distance?" She replied "I think they're Crows"
As I started to play the third flute song the Eagle's Cry became louder, over powering the sound of all the other birds in the forest leaving no doubt it was the voice of the eagle. I stepped into the opening and looked to the sky as I played to see if I could catch a glimpse of them. As I did the Eagles voice became louder and louder permeating the forest and over shadowing all the other sounds so intense I could feel it in my heart they had arrived. Then just over my head huge, soaring, strong and majestic they swooped down with their steely eyes upon me looking directly at the strange bird who's voice rang through the woods and echoed over the lake. In their voices I heard them singing saying to me "We are free and shall always be. It is our right to take to flight and soar the clear blue sky."
I turned to Deborah who was standing next to me in awe, wonder, and joy with eyes as big as saucers and whispered "Eagles". I did not stop playing the flute but played with the Eagles as the lingered and made many passes over me so close they were looking me directly in the eye. This magic moment of "Singing with Eagles" will be etched into my mind forever. The beauty, grace and power of the Great Spirit's handy work never cease to amaze me.
We all have a song inside us it tells us who we are.

Native Indian music has always stirred up something ancient & deep within my soul. And it feels so Right,,,,
I feel the same way. The first time I hear the flute, I was still... as it caressed my soul and brought me peace.
The flute is a primal instrament to almost all cultures. It stirs our very soul someplace deep in our DNA for thousands of year. It is the wind blowing in the trees and the birds singing. It is the lovers call and the heart of it all
Beautiful. I so enjoy John's playing--all natural, all heart and soul.
When I have a stressful day I often close my eyes and listen to the music of the flute. A magical power is held in the music.

“What is life? It is the flash of a firefly in the night. It is the breath of a buffalo in the winter time. It is the little shadow which runs across the grass and loses itself in the Sunset.” Crowfoot
Indeed, it speaks to my soul, and the Indian within me. I wish to play the flute like so.

This truly makes me feel sad for what the first of the settlers that came here did to Native Americans. I wish the world could experience peace and tranquiltiy without the wars and greed. This song beautiful and helps one to think of our transgressions against God and our fellow man.

No that is a Cherry wood made by David Nighteagle (Lakota) and kind of a rare wood for a Native American flute. I love it
I am so happy to find your channel and this vid. What a great place to spend my evening after a long busy day. I know of nothing else on EARTH that calls to my spirit like this. It is penetrating and yet elusive in some ways. Thank you for sharing your talent here on YT. Love from Luna Chic

@SiyoOlowan I consider myself a beginner at making flutes and am very pleased to boast a little in that my G flute made from redwood is sounding just like this flute, made to Ki-e-ta directions! just wish I could play as well as John!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@KatharsisWorks The penny wistle is built on a Diatonic major scale and historically was developed in and used in europe. Very different than the Native American flute that was built on a Penatonic minor scale developed and used in America. Also the Penny wisle is a wistle the air splitting and making the sound and the flute is the air flowing over the the top of an opening making the sound one is made out of wood and the other made out of tin or metal producing very different sounds and tones.
once I learn more about woodwork I'm going to make one :)
This is simply divine. Has much greater calming effect than valerian tincture! How much is such a flute? I totally wanna have one.
@SiyoOlowan I consider myself a beginner at making flutes and am very pleased to boast a little in that my G flute made from redwood is sounding just like this flute made to Ki-e-ta directions just wish I could play as well as John!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what key is this flute?
That looks like a David Nighteagle flute. I have had a few of them over the years, Very nice song, by the way.
I just like to let you know for some reason this music makes me cry. I dont know why it feels sad inside me. Can you tell me if it's a sad song. Ps. I'm Mescalero Apache and just learning about my heritage and proud of it.
this is truly beautiful and i hate to ruin the vib and spirituality of it but may i ask what key is that flute in ? as i would like to play this piece and do it justice :)
@KatharsisWorks They are quite different. They are wind instraments, but the similarities stop there LOL
