Mr. Roybal, your music is exquisite! It has an ancient spirit to it. Many play Native American flute, but you are special! A'Ho. 🐎🐃🔥🐢
In my youth I respected the world and life, I needed not anything but peace of heart;
And yet I changed despite myself and believed in Iktumi's lies.
He seemed to know all the truth, he promised to make me happy.
He made me ask Wakantanka for wealth, that I might have power;
I was given poverty, that I might find my inner strength.
I asked for fame, so others would know me;
I was given obscurity, that I might know myself.
I asked for a person to love that I might never be alone;
I was given a life of a hermit, that I might learn to accept myself.
I asked for power, that I might achieve;
I was given weakness, that I might learn to obey.
I asked for health, that I might lead a long life;
I was given infirmity, that I might appreciate each minute.
I asked Mother Earth for strength, that I might have my way;
I was given weakness, that I might feel the need for Her.
I asked to live happily, that I might enjoy life;
I was given life, that I might live happily.
I received nothing I asked for, yet all my wishes came true.
Despite myself and Iktumi, my dreams were fulfilled,
I am richly blessed more than I ever hoped,
I thank you, Wakantanka, for what you've given me.

The eight lies of Iktumi
(1). If only I were rich, then I would be happy.
(2). If only I were famous, then I would be happy.
(3). If only I could find the right person to marry, then I would be happy.
(4). If only I had more friends, then I would be happy.
(5). If only I were more attractive, then I would be happy.
(6). If only I were not physically handicapped in any way, then I would be happy.
(7). If only someone close to me had not died, then I would be happy.
(8) If only the world were a better place, then I would be happy.

Bless You Billy Mills for these thoughts.
Bless You Ronald Roybal for Your music, Will
"Oh, Great Spirit,
whose voice I hear in the winds
and whose breath gives life to all the world, hear me.
I am small and weak.
I need your strength and wisdom.
Let me walk in beauty and make my eyes
ever behold the red and purple sunset.
Make my hands respect the things you have made
and my ears sharp to hear your voice.
Make me wise so that I may understand
the things you have taught my people.
Let me learn the lessons you have hidden
in every leaf and rock.
I seek strength, not to be superior to my brother,
but to fight my greatest enemy - myself.
Make me always ready to come to you
with clean hands and straight eyes,
so when life fades, as the fading sunset,
my spirit will come to you
without shame.

Good Morning so very much what my soul as well as spirit need right now. One of the main reasons I always end up back listening to this beautiful music.
So healing as well as peaceful.

My tears say it all. Thank you for reminding us what really matters.
Thanks for your comments. I like to push the flute's limits and my own. I'm still learning!

Check out "Sacred Mountain" and "Catching A Dream" for Pow Drum and NA flute mixes. I will also post "Dream Warrior" which is from "The Blood Cries Out" sometime in the future. It has some pretty cool drumming and flute arrangements. I'm working on a new album with traditional Pow Wow drumming and singing on it which might incorporate flute into the song. I do have recordings with flute and hand drum on "Eagle's Journey Into Dawn". Thanks for your question.
The juxtaposition of familiar with unfamiliar images only enhances the sweetness of the notes you hold. Discordant, contemplative, lonely, melancholy never sounded so good.
