With each of these popular chain restaurants offering a variety of breads, pastries and desserts at very similar price points, we set out on this epic taste test to determine whether Starbucks or Panera Bread is serving up the better baked goods so we can all know where to invest those precious dollars and calories.

Q: How do you not gain weight?
A: Endurance sports (primarily running, cycling and some resistance training) and extreme discipline & sacrifice with our daily diets is how we manage not to gain weight. We eat mostly vegetables, fruits, some whole grains and low fat dairy on the days outside these videos. The calories consumed in a food challenge or mukbang are the only calories consumed that day and sometimes the day following as well seeing our appetites are typically shot from so much food and the thought of eating is very off-putting. Two days out we are back to large amounts of vegetables and increase to maintenance from there. We also often eat most of our days calories in a smaller eating window (we frequently bounce between intermittent fasting & OMAD diet as it just seems to work with our lifestyles and eating preferences). Anyone with a larger than normal stomach capacity like us, the drive to push through the discomfort of a challenge like this, and a basic understanding of energy balance (calories in vs calories out) can do it with enough disciple and intention (not that we recommend it).
Also worth mentioning is that we do not exercise to burn the calories consumed in a video but rather we are able to consume higher calorie diets due to our participation in endurance activities and said discipline with our daily diets.

A: While we’re sure that type of video will eventually make its way out there, this is not a health and fitness channel and we intend to primarily focus on indulgent food entertainment. We’re still in the very early stages of establishing ourselves within this genre and we’re constantly experimenting and trying to improve upon our style to make our channel a unique experience. Food is our passion while fitness is our discipline so, while we currently only have the availability to produce one quality piece of content a week, fun food-centered videos is where we’ll be focusing our attention (and trust us, it’s more fun for all of us this way). That’s not to say it will never happen, but it’s not a top priority for us.

It amazes me how good of quality your guys videos are.. I would think you guys have been on here for 20+ years. I was quite literally dumbfounded when i saw how many followers you guys had, i was SURE it was in the millions range and was shocked to see you guys are not getting the recognition you deserve. almost too excited. both of these places are incredibly mediocre, its like theyve never been to an actual patisserie or good quality local bakery before. theyre objectively so much better. this is like watching someone raving intensely over a bag of lays potato chips

As someone who goes to Panera occasionally, and having had Panera's blueberry muffins and bagels before, I was definitely rooting for Panera. I was very curious how Starbucks would do though, having heard good things about their baked goods, but I didn't expect that landslide loss at the beginning at all! Loved the comparison!

I definitely agree that quality over quantity focus is far more interesting and enjoyable to watch.

Our reasoning is that we can’t currently offer anything in return (special content or anything) for supporters and feel wrong accepting donations if we can’t give back in some way.
For a few months we were also considering taking a break from the platform altogether because time and resources are SO limited right now and running the channel was becoming increasingly difficult and stressful. In that scenario we felt having an active Patreon was immoral to a degree.
We’re currently strategizing and trying to figure out what we can do/offer patrons so that we can relaunch our Patreon and feel comfortable having it active though.
We will certainly post to the community letting everyone know when that happens!

Oh no! I was trying to decide which bakery item to get and settled between the claw and the pecan braid but couldn't decide..then I watched this and you guys talked me into the braid BUT it was terrible..dry and too sweet is how id describe it.. 😞

I’ve never been to Panera - I’d like to. Honestly here in the U.K. I’m mainly deeply disappointed by the Starbucks baked goods! They never feel freshly baked - and they are never warm. I think you get more Starbucks products than we have here and some look really nice! Much love - as always ❣️

As someone whose work at both places 1000000% Panera. Starbucks we got our stuff Frozen in boxes. Panera baked everything the night before even if it's more expensive they do quality over quantity

I will say I'm team Panera for savory food, and Starbucks for sweet. But Panera will probably have better quality in general with baked goods, because it is a bread place. It's literally called Panera Bread

I don't go to star bucks very often here in the UK, but anytime I have I find it expensive and not worth it. Prefer Costa's, but again pretty expensive. Never seen a Panera here.

Yeah, they’re a massive bakery/cafe chain over here in the US.
Prices are nearly identical for all the baked goods and they carry many of the same bakery items (obviously lol).
They do bake most things in house unlike Starbucks though and are known for their sandwiches, soups, salads and cafe drinks as well 👍
Hey boys, love the channel! Starbucks and Panera aren't really a fair comparison. Panera is a bakery and Starbucks is a coffee shop. It's kinda like comparing subs sold at a pizza place against jersey mikes. Just my opinion. Starbucks is prepackaged and Panera is baked at the respective restaurants. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Having said that, please keep doing what you do. Love the content!
Understandable, but considering they’re the same items being sold at the same price at equally convenient establishments, the comparison was worth making in our opinions.
A lot of our subscribers often recommend Starbucks bakery items to us knowing we’re baked goods guys but a lot of them have never been to Panera so this was quite eye opening for a lot of us to see what a drastically better product you can get for the same price 🙏

Yeah, not many people have much great things to say about Starbucks it seems! The cranberry bliss bar and pumpkin muffins are worth going in for but there are better version of most everything else 😅
Seriously though, we couldn’t have had a better experience with that lemon cookie! If you try it you’ve gotta let us know if yours was as life change! 😍🤤

Before watching the video, I'm calling it for Panera. As far as chain "bakeries," Panera is decent. Of course, fresh made at home or a local bakery is usually better than any grocery store or restaurant or coffee shop, but Panera is generally superior to Starbucks on baked goods.

Before watching and after having worked at both before. Panera has bakers bake most of that overnight every night. Starbucks is prepackaged food sent to them so Panera will prob win food, but if drinks were included then I think Starbucks drinks are way better.
EDIT: It's kind of embarrassing for Panera how many rounds they did loose considering they make most of their bakery things fresh. LOL
Also the sugar plum danish from Starbucks is my favourite item from Starbucks. You cut it wrong though, one of you mostly got cream cheese and the other one mostly got the plum... LOL!

I'm an Aussie and I went to Las Vegas in 2019. I went to Starbucks and it was packed. So I thought it would be good. I was bitterly disappointed. The croissant was dry and hard to eat, the toasted sandwich was dry and their coffee just tasted like milk. Never again.
A menu with a lot of highs and lows for sure 😅 luckily we managed to hit some highs sooner or later lol!
I never been to a Panera, I will now! How about the price s did they compare equally?

The cranberry bliss bar is my favorite item I could eat heaps of those! Starbucks I basically grew up on eating their brownies and chocolate chip cookies always went after church.
