    In this video I'm painting a semi abstract landscape with acrylics and talk about the concepts I use for simplifying my landscape paintings.
    I'll also show you a behind-the-scenes look into the inspiration behind the painting and how and why I choose a limited colors palette.
    Materials: I use only Titanium White and Black acrylics in this video. I also use some watersoluble crayons and watercolor pencils.The paper is 160lb/200gram acid free sketchbook paper. But watercolor paper would work fine as well.
    If you are using baby wipes, like I do in the video, you should pick ones WITHOUT lotion!

    Hello everyone😊
    The Winter season has inspired yet another painting and the colors are very limited this time. Hope you are staying safe & creative! 🎨

    I've watched most of your videos and they have brought me forward as an artist more than anything else, I've started to paint freely as appose to slavishly copying, creating my own compositions from reference photos and now feel that my paintings are my own and not a copy. Thank you so much for the guidance and inspiration I needed.

    I have just watched this video and I think it is one of the most concise, informative, and helpful videos that I have seen on the subject of simplifying a painting.
    It will certainly influence my approach to my future artwork.
    Very much appreciated.
    Thank you, Marie Louise.

    I have enjoyed watching your process. Thank you very much. You have touched on so much of what makes me struggle but then my local landscape is all about trees. Not so easy to simplify. I am going to try again, talking to myself about the star and the supporting cast.

      Yes trees is something else but I'm sure you can do it! Thanks for watching and have a lovely weekend.
      Best,

    I am so happy that I have found your channel. I love watching and rewatching all of your videos. Do you always use gesso on your papers and canvas before painting? I’d love to see how you mix your washes and paints on your palette. I have learned so much from you already

    • @TheDanishPainter
      @TheDanishPainter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the support, Taylor! No I don't always gesso...it sort of depends on the paper. If you are unsure of how well the paper will hold up, then I would give it coat or two of gesso.

    Hi Marie Louise. Loved this video, loved the simplicity but also the drama in it. Would love to see a larger painting demonstration.
    I tried to do my own but I think my eagerness got in the way of letting the layers dry and it turned into a big mess. I'll just keep trying

    • @TheDanishPainter
      @TheDanishPainter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi John and thanks😊 I would love to show the process of a larger one at some point. Thanks for the heads up keep trying I know you will get it 👌🎨

      @@TheDanishPainter can I also ask, what consistency is your paint? Is it very watery or are you just using the water from a wet brush? My paint started bleeding under the masking tape so it might have been too watery

    • @TheDanishPainter
      @TheDanishPainter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both really. It’s sometimes a fine balance between water and paint. Perhaps try with less water 💦
      Thanks for your comment & for watching 😊

    Hi Marie, I'm loving trying this loose style, thank you. I have a problem that whenever I paint the paint seems to seep through my masking tape. How do you avoid this problem?

    • @TheDanishPainter
      @TheDanishPainter  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is a problem I also experience. After you put on the tape you must press the edge of the tape down really well with the edge of your fingernail. I also try to paint AWAY from the edge of the tape and not towards it (difficult to remember when I the midst of painting, I know)
      Hope that helps :)

    • @33ttpat10
      @33ttpat10 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Something that has helped me is that I have used gesso over top of the paint and I never have any issues with the paint seeping under so far.

      Brushing a line of gel medium over the edge and letting it dry before painting. (between tape and paper) is helpful
