A dad A dj A husband A TV presenter He did it all & let's not forget John played it all.all the records & marked them So missed by us all Bless the peel family xxx
To be blessed to look on peel land is like waking into a temple & be instantly blessed I'm in my 50s & have been listening to peel shows since I was 10 Late for school the next day oooo yes Radio under my pillow Thank u so much so very much for the upload Peace Is there a longer version of this
Absolutely amazing collection, i'd be happy to spend the rest of my life in there with a ton of weed and the number for a good Chinese takeaway lol Hope you guys enjoyed that, what a privilege.
A collection should always aspire to one day become a museum. It doesn't HAVE to become one...but it should have the potential. That's how a collection like this comes into being, and think of how much history is preserved because of it.
I lol'd when Tall Black Guy had the music overload and he's like "i'm done, there's too much". *Camera swings up to another 3 shelves of hidden records* 😂😂
IT'S A JOY TO WATCH THESE GUYS, SCUSE ME GENTLEMEN DO WHAT THEY DO! TO SEE JOHN PEEL'S COLLECTION IS AMAZING THAT CAT SEEMS LIKE HE HAS ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING! I SEEN PULL SOME STUFF ON THE ORIGINAL TIP THAT IS REDICULOUS TO FIND O.G. PRESSINGS OF.
...and they were never seen leaving the house. Their voices can still be heard through the records on the shelves.... part of the music, part of the archive. 👻
As a DJ, JP learned never to trust the playing times printed on the record albums. So he would listen to EACH RECORD and hand write the actual times on a label he stuck on the sleeve.
If you think about it, Peel was playing all the esoteric stuff other DJs were not. Most Radio DJs would be playing the 2-3 min single, so I guess noting the times of tracks could have had a practical purpose for Peel as a DJ because if he is picking tracks off obscure albums from his collection to play on the radio that track could be any length.
Given his place at Radio 1, JP wouldn’t have paid for any music, he would have been bombarded with Promo’s constantly. Even normal club dj’s were. It must now be worth Millions.
Of all the art forms popular music is , in my opinion , is perhaps the most important , because it is made by us , made for us , and very often it is about us ! Without John Peel the worlds youth cultures and music cultures would be very different , music would be much more narrow and shallow , it can't be overstated how important he was !
If I had won the 170 million I would buy the House and leave everything as It Is. And just spend the rest of the time I have left playing through them. RIP John Peel. I just wonder hiw many they got out with up their jumpers.
I get the feeling he'd love it......he was a music man, through and through. And to know they were treating his collection (a large part of which were free promos) as the ultimate diggers cache, and picking out snippets to sample and remould, would have warmed his cockles no end!
Mr thing I think sampled Willie hutch, the last version sampled 2 different Willie hutch records. A love worth having and baby your love keeps lifting me
Ha ha....The first time I went to WFMU Record Fair, I fainted and woke up on the floor. The lights were out and everyone was gone. I'm sure King Peels place was that times 1000.
I just found another sample of four tet - as serious as your life at 8:35 don’t know the sample name or artist - any name or recognition of electro sound plz
"To complete your insurance quote, please compile a list of items you would like to insure"! Give me a few years..........................................;)
can anyone tell me the name of the record Mr. Thing was playing for the dudes at 9:35? with the blonde woman drawn on the cover? it's a life and death matter
So, again what was that earliest recording in the collection that someone grabbed off the shelf but the makers of the video/documentary couldn't be bothered to share with their viewers? 😒
These people are being repectful and being careful not to damage anything....I reckon that John Peel wouldt want the records to be played and have others getting inspriation from them...rather than just set aside like a museum exhibit , decaying with no one allowed to touch....at the end of the day, these records are not sacred idols...music needs to be heard and enjoyed....
I swear to god I looked everywhere on internet and on internet for it but no one seems to know it. must be a real pearl. did u manage to find out what it is?
Why are they allowed to handle this National Treasure of a collection. It should be left alone as a mark of respect to John. Only his family and very nearest to him should have access to this remarkable collection. Peel was the soundscape to many people’s youth. I hope they did not damage and misplace the records. But never the less an amazing view of one the most staggaring record collections you will ever see....still miss your dulcet tones on those bleak winter evenings John.
We give First Word Records the utmost respect
That’s my idea of heaven, just spending eternity going through that room and listening to everything...

Exactly, the National Trust or whoever should ensure this house/collection is forever preserved.

Amazing!
Didn't realise Mark B. passed. R.I.P.
I would love to go through his classic rock section and 60s and 70s
Cosmic supermarket and sci fi party are rare early electronic albums from krautrockers the 'cosmic jokers'. Love this collection!
...and they were never seen leaving the house. Their voices can still be heard through the records on the shelves.... part of the music, part of the archive. 👻
So bleedin' cool, thanks for the look.
IT'S AWESOME TO SEE DIFFERENT EARS OF THIS CALIBER COME TOGETHER AND MAKE DOPE SHIT!
Wow, that is simply incredible!
Crazy collection, indeed very impresssive.
Just a stunning collection
As a DJ, JP learned never to trust the playing times printed on the record albums. So he would listen to EACH RECORD and hand write the actual times on a label he stuck on the sleeve.
And then sometimes forget and play at wrong speed. To be fair in90s white label 12 inch didn't show playing times.Sometimes different speed on B side.
So great! Thanks y'all!

Hagan un segundo video. Muestren claramente la parte trasera del primer LP de CARAVAN.
Given his place at Radio 1, JP wouldn’t have paid for any music, he would have been bombarded with Promo’s constantly. Even normal club dj’s were. It must now be worth Millions.
I can assure he was a keen cratedigger, so did pay for a lot of his own music. One should never make such assumptions.

If I had won the 170 million I would buy the House and leave everything as It Is. And just spend the rest of the time I have left playing through them. RIP John Peel. I just wonder hiw many they got out with up their jumpers.
Allowing hardcore record collectors in to see your rare records is a bit like allowing junkies in to see your heroin collection.
Quality! Big up Mr Thing!
I get mixed feelings of jealousy , love & sadness .........I wonder how John would feel all these grubby hands on his records,
I get the feeling he'd love it......he was a music man, through and through. And to know they were treating his collection (a large part of which were free promos) as the ultimate diggers cache, and picking out snippets to sample and remould, would have warmed his cockles no end!
I need to get this trilogy

Holy shit that TBG flip is insane!
All producers and DJs at the BBC re-time the records, as they are incorrect on the discs and need to be exact to build a show in advance.

These record will soon be scattered for the winds. His widow is selling them at 1 pounds per record
They are like a bunch of vultures. Sickening really.👎
NeptuneReturnz Why are they they've been given permission by the Peel family it's all been done very respectfully for us to enjoy watching. .
Jealousy is a horrible thing to suffer from.
this video makes me kind of sad
