      Let's put it this way, revolvers are the 36th Chamber of the fire arms world. In the Shaw Brothers 36th Chamber of Shiolin, the MC finished the movie proposing a training method for the layman (as opposed to his own multi year training). That's where revolvers come in. They are significantly easier to maintain and hold up better under neglect for the one or two time the owner may need it.

    The big thing about revolvers Is they work even with the barrel pressed against the target so they are great for extreme CQB but they are difficult to conceal and are limited capacity and in 2023 where we are seeing multiple attackers I'd prefer the extra ammo

    • @issstari954
      @issstari954 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Difficult to conceal really depends on the size true they lack ammo capacity but they are also extremely reliable I also think its a matter of what your expecting if your expecting to be attacked by a bear or mugged close up I would prefer a revolver but if your larger threat is a rioting group of crazies on your way to work I would prefer the semi auto

    • @Mark-wq1nh
      @Mark-wq1nh ปีที่แล้ว +2

    • @issstari954
      @issstari954 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Mark-wq1nh The reason I prefer revolvers for bears isnt so much stopping power its when your getting rag dolled you probably arent going to have an optimal grip and that bear might be literally on top of you

    • @issstari954
      @issstari954 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Mark-wq1nh You could also say if your defending your business you may also want a semi auto due to distance and multiple attackers luckily for the grand majority of self defense instances usually an attacker is just there for money and dosent want a gun fight so they run off by the mere presence of a gun or the first guy dropping but again thats not guranteed so thats where you would prefer capacity

    • @Abandonsoyciety
      @Abandonsoyciety ปีที่แล้ว +1

      De fato, o revólver se for do mesmo calíbre ou calíbre semelhante ao da pistola, possuí um disparo muito mais poderoso em comparação ao da pistola, além dos revólveres possuirem outras vantagens sobre pistolas, como o punhal, o punhal do revólver é exclusivo para uma pegada segura, mas as pistolas se dividem em dar segurança e conforto na pegada e na quantidade de munições cabíveis no punhal, por isto, os revólveres de calíbres .38 adiante vs pistolas de calíbre .38 vs .40 adiante, possuem punhais mais seguros, dando io revolver ao atirador, mais segurança e precisão nos disparos.

    I've been considering getting a handgun for a little while now (give or take 4 years I think) for when there's a natural disaster (like a hurricane) and many functions of society has shut down to help defend both myself and those I live with, and if by some rare off chance someone tries to break into my home, and an 8 round revolver has always been on my mind.
    So thank you very much for making this video Survival Gear, this helped out a lot. =) Either the SMITH & WESSON PC M&P R8 or the KORTH NXS will be picked once I'm legally able to perches a firearm (I'm 19 years old and the law requires me to be 21 to buy a handgun. . even though, disturbingly, I can already buy an assault rifle sense that requires someone to be 18 years old to get.) depending if the SMITH & WESSON is cheaper or more expensive than the KORTH NXS's 5k + price tag. Again, thank you for makin this video Survival Gear, this is a real help. =) Have a nice day. =)

    • @sirdanoman
      @sirdanoman ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah...no. Horrible accuracy with the 2 calibers worth a damn that it chambers and .410 is not ideal unless you're shooting small varmints at close range. I know, I know. Ammo manufacturers have tried REALLY hard to make a SD .410 round to fit this niche, but yeah. No. But hey, a gun is better than no gun at all. It's funny, most people who purchase this firearm (in my experience) are new to guns and buy the hype of "It shoots shotgun rounds!" and of course thinking they don't need to aim, it'll blast bad guys across the room, etc, etc. Not ONE even knew what .454 was, nor the difference in .45 (Colt vs ACP). They just got the age old fudd gunshop clerk "Get a shotgun! You don't need to aim and it'll clear out the room with one blast!" line.

    • @Billywhitebread4
      @Billywhitebread4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@sirdanoman I have zero problems with accuracy up to 25 yards.
      most self defense situation happen within 6 feet. So again shouldn’t be a problem.
      the 454 casull is a great round for bear. I use this as a hiking / camping carry. And have personal experience with 454 casull vs bear.
      And the 410 comes with a huge variety of different loads. So highly doubt you’ve tested the majority of them.
      To each his own but accuracy comes down to the hands holding it.
      Nice book of nonsense tho 😉🤣

    • @Billywhitebread4
      @Billywhitebread4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@sirdanoman and your point on people not knowing the difference in calibers… google is a wonderful tool.

      @stubbornone1189 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @Dano Looks like someone watched a TH-cam video about the firearm, but hasn't used one himself.
      Is the Judge or the Governor as effective with those rounds as a dedicated revolver in those calibers? No. But that doesn't mean it's not still accurate and very effective.
      I recommend trying one of them out.
      Also, just as with .22lr, a lot of people mock the power of the 410, but I've yet to find anyone who wants to get hit by it.
      Even 410 birdshot will penetrate at least a half inch into meat, and the last time I checked, my eyelids are less than a half-inch thick.

    So sad that the new S&W's have the stupid key locks. Personally for concealed carry its hard to beat an old S&W night guard in .357 mag. Remove the hammer spur and you are good to go. Open carry is pretty wide open. Lots of great guns from different manufacturers. I Love my S&W 586 in .357 but it's limited to 6 shots. For wilderness carry the Ruger Super Blackhawk in 44 mag is king. Load up with 300 grain hard cast lead and you can stop a Grizzly, if your lucky.

    Ummm...is the Kimber DAO due to the internal hammer or not? The video mentions a single action pull and the video shows no hammer; then a hammer; then no hammer again.

    Can someone explain to me how the gases don't escape through the cylinder action to barrel linkage? I know it works I just don't know how. Also, I used to own a pistol, shield ez and it was too complicated for my wife to use with its multiple safety built-in. And I was trying to learn how to disassemble it and ended up breaking it. would you recommend I buy a revolver instead for home and personal defense in texas? it seems more durable and simple than the pistol.

    • @thehousealwayswins8398
      @thehousealwayswins8398 ปีที่แล้ว

      The thing about revolvers is that the gases DO escape the cylinder gap. That's why you don't shoot revolvers like semi-auto pistols since you're liable to burn/blow off your fingers. I've owned revolvers for years now and I can tell you, they are SO much easier to maintain and handle than semi-autos. I admit I'm quite lazy when it comes to regular maintenance on my guns, so revolvers are a godsend to me. They are extremely durable. I had one of mine stuck in a closet for years and it still fired as it should have when I took it out to shoot. Their simplicity is their greatest strength.

    Ruger Rehawk 357, 8 rounds and heavy enough to pistolwip a gang banger into a coma. Also has moon clips so loading is fast if you needed that
    Every other gun on this list is too busy, its a tool and needs simple, reliable and effective. Keep all the rails and window dressing for bad hollywood movies.

    I didn’t see any magnums with ported barrels and only one gun milled for clips. To me as them rails for attachments don’t make it a combat revolver. To me a combat revolver must be a magnum with a DA trigger properly tuned. A ported barrel for quick follow up shots and a milled cylinder for quick reloads. My combat pistol is all of that, also with aftermarket grips and a no maintenance finish.

    In the 80s and 90s, revolvers were more reliable than semiautos. I don't think they are anymore. Revolvers are very complex machines. They have huge gaps around the cylinder that can get plugged and clogged with dirt, clothing, etc. Semiautos didn't use to be very reliable. Now, even cheap semiautos, are reliable as hell.
