Been trying to keep mine under control for about ten years. For the most part, I do well despite numerous diverticuli. This is what helps me to keep my flairs to a minimal:
    1. A lot of fluids every day. Water, pure juice, hot black tea. It keeps our food moving through us!
    2. Never and I mean never over eat! High volumes of food cause me too much compression on the diverticuli.
    3. Avoid sweets or consume only very limited amounts. Bacteria love sugar!
    4. Try to avoid stress and find relaxing ways to manage it.
    5. Exercise per your physician's recommendations. It helps with your digestion!
    6. Eat slowly and chew thoroughly.
    7. Keep a food journal. What effects one person may not effect the other. It's very individualized on what isn't tolerated. I have difficulty digesting beef and pork so when I eat either, I have 4 ounces or less per day and maybe only one or two times a week.
There are rewards, my friends, to a healthy diet. Other than the diverticuli, I am healthy, 64 years old, and on no medications and my weight is in normal range. I learned the hard way with a few infections so the choice I had to make is did I want to be sick or healthy?
    Best of luck to all!

I'm just going to give up on solid food for about a year. At least I'll be sick...but skinny. Its 2022 and nothing gets diagnosed until it's a ER medical emergency. No one has any answers, everyone is different, and we all are suffering. I hear the only cure is aggressive surgery. I had a CT in the hospital where I was treated a little better than cattle...14 hours later, I get the diagnosis. "Extensive Diverticulitis" and then they sent me home with meds. We're on our own until we find a good gastro doctor. That's not easy.

Going thru a flare up now, liquids only. What's bad about diverticulitis is that we do this to ourselves, we know we should eat better. So I'm blaming myself but with God's grace and healing I will get thru this. It's a wakeup call to take better care of this temple. We only get one, best to treat it with respect and honor to God. 🙏

I actually had one of my worst flare ups when I was eating my healthiest lol, I've been learning it's not always the most obvious food that's the culprit of a flare up. I kinda suspect exactly what that might be varies greatly from person to person, which is annoying haha.

I want to share my story so some may learn from my mistake.
I had pain in my stomach for about a year before my diagnosis...
I don't like to go to the doctors/hospital so i kept brushing it off
Until one night I had a fever, cold sweats, I went toilet and the pain from urinating was so severe that I passed out, i decided to go hospital the next day... which possibly saved my life I had diverticulitis and one of the pockets had burst and I needed surgery asap otherwise it could have been fatal.
Moral of the story is if you feel any pain/discomfort in your bowl area please get it checked before it's to late.

One Dr. said i had Sacroilitis. Withing 24 hours i was in so much pain i almost passed out and had to call 911 and needed help because i couldn't move. I went back to the E.R. 4 days later and did a CT Scan and another Doctor believes i have diverculosis.

Hi I'm 63 and live in Idaho. When I was 60 I had a severe diverticulitis attack. Landed me in the hospital for 4 days, they had to give me IV antibiotics to save me. They took my appendix, an ovary, both tubes. I got C-Diff three times finally getting the cure of MFT. A couple of weeks ago I got that familiar feeling and thought I need to get a handle on this! I came across your video and now I have an honest answer to how to fix this issue thank you.

I also got diagnosed with diverticulosis at age 30, I had bouts every 6 months for 10 years. They gave me metronidazole and ciprofalaxin as antibiotics. The metronidazole ( flagyl) is non coated. I wrap it in a little piece of bread to minimize the bad taste. However too many antibiotics can cause in the end scar tissue in your colon after multiple antibiotic treatments. I ended up having my sigmoid part of the colon removed with the DaVinci robotic surgery about 5 years ago and never again have i suffered from this again. It is hereditary. Getting a nutritionist is important. It takes longer to heal inside our colon for the fact that no sunlight or air hits it, in order to recover or heal faster. When we get a scar from a cut on our arm we heal faster because the air and sunlight helps us heal quick. When the bad bacteria has taken over the colon is why when people pass Gass and it is unbearable the bad bacteriahas taken over. We need to get a good biome of good bacteria in our digestive system to fight sickness. Our immune system is in our gut. I am a big fan of probiotics and digestive enzymes. I'm on them daily... I pray 🙏 to stay diverticulitis free with healthy foods , mineral or artisan waters, they also heal insides by the way.!! Moving your bowls daily is very important as well.hope you feel great.. ty for this video.

I got diagnosed at 30, too! Doc gave me metronidazole & cipro...metronidazole was the most FOUL tasting pill I've ever had!!! Bitter, disgusting and once it hits your tongue the bad taste "blooms" all over your mouth. I had to begin just dropping it down my throat to avoid the taste amd gulping down water to chase it with. I also got a shot of tegretol in my hip from the doc. This helped for a few weeks, but now I feel like I am already flaring up again. It makes me feel panicky because I can't seem to escape the pain no matter what I do or how well I eat. I hope a cure for this chronic condition comes soon!

Hello. I had a really bad protstate infection and I was out of town with our kids. Anyway I could feel a fever as we got into Tennessee and I really didn’t know exactly what it was until the pain got stronger in my prostate. So now I’m thinking I’m in big trouble I’m an out of town we don’t have a good insurance at the moment and I really don’t have time for this because we were going to work on the house up there in Tennessee. So my daughter-in-law who is a essential oils expert, immediately got me into oil of oregano. I started taking that that night and the next day and I also added vitamin C to that scenario so I would heal quickly and it took several days but my strong pain in my prostate and my fever lowered to practically nothing and then they just disappeared. So I have a new respect for oil of oregano it really helped my prostate heal itself without taking anabiotic’s or going to a doctor. On my last check up with my Gastro intestinal doctor he advised me I have a small touch diverticulitis and he suggested it should not be a problem provided I increase my fiber intake and that was about a year ago. Anyway I got a acute attack of diverticulitis for the first time and I believe it was due to eating peanuts. The onset of the attack was very fast and I developed incredible pains in my lower abdomen and a low-grade fever. I immediately went to the doctor the next day and she advised me it had diverticulitis and for me that I would need to take 875 mg pills of a antibiotic three times daily. So I did that and ate a lot more fiber and the pain level and the infection appears to be going away after three days of this. Anyway I did my research I’m going to add a load of fiber to my diet daily, starting with oatmeal in the morning for breakfast eating apples daily and drinking fiber supplements on a daily basis also. This is my first diverticulitis attack ever. Anyway that’s my story if I get this attack again I will do oil of oregano and aloe vera juice and also pineapple juice for digestive enzymes and A good garlic supplement which will enhance antibiotic action in the body. Hope this helps someone thank you and have a good day. Bob

I am 66. I was told a small section of my colon has diverticuli. I have exercised all my life. I have had 2 flare ups in the past six months that were incredibly painful. I'm very frustrated because there does not seem to be any concrete information. It is all whatever works for you. Which is. Slow down eating. Liquid diet. Add turmeric curcumin for the inflammation. Peppermint tea and smooth move tea help. My flare ups last about 10 days. I intend to start elliot overton program for B1. I have read that slippery elm and colostrum can help but have not tried them.

@@chrissyholmes-upthewindyla8343 Doing great thanks! my pain went away over a 2 week period. After educating myself with videos like yours I was able to change my lifestyle around. I started with a clear liquid diet for 3 days and NOTHING else this gave my digestive system the rest it needed. on the 4th day, I started on a full liquid diet for the rest of the week. Next, I started taking a good probiotic once a day and apple cider vinegar mixed with a beverage of choice (I'm still experimenting) every morning. By the end of the week, my pain was more like a slight discomfort and then gone by the end of week two. Now I'm fasting 4x a week and eating much better. Getting about 30-35 grams of fiber a day along with drinking 3 liters of water to keep things flushed and moving. My digestive system is happy and back to normal. I'm on the road a lot and we all know how easy it is to stop and eat fast food and go....I haven't had any fast food since that time and I don't see myself making it a part of my regular diet outside of an occasional social sandwich if you will. Lots of veggies, fruits, whole grains, sweet potatoes, fish, chicken, eggs. That's my success story and thanks for your insight it pointed me in the right direction! I imagine diverticulitis is very similar to pregnancy symptoms... but 10x severe. Hence, if I ever become pregnant (the first indictions will be nausea, headaches, fatigue, and cravings). If I have a flare-up; then, I'll know that the symptoms aren't pregnancy. Recently, I had a flare-up. And I'm now suffering from severe fatigue and these awful headaches. I had been diagnosed w/ diverticulitis when I was an undergraduate. I'm considered below my BMI... though, if I try to gain weight then I have flare- ups. When I stick to a primarily liquid diet (that usually helps to sustain my current weight); then, no flare-ups. So, being skinny is by choice but not entirely.... my flare-ups occur when I try to gain weight. I'm trying to gain 5-7 lbs as my partner thinks my weight is the reason for why we've not had a positive pregnancy test yet.... though, my body just won't allow for me to gain weight w/o horrible flare-ups.
How does an underweight woman w/ diverticulitis naturally conceive? I know that even once I became pregnant; my diverticulitis will "kick my tush" throughout the pregnancy due to food cravings and GI, bowel complexities w/ the baby. So, adoption is sounding more realistic right now.
Any advice is much appreciated! And thank you for the informative insight.

Listening to you, I recounted how on my way to work one day, I had been swiped on my driver's side by another vehicle on the day of inception of not feeling well, then, the ensuing lower left pain that lasted 2 days, until I resigned a trip to the ER! The accident proved to be, a harrowing day, full of excitement, too much, to add to the stress I had been experiencing at work, and for a very long time. After the accident, I called my son, my boss, to fill them in on all of the hoopla, which is a side story that I will not include. I was a bit shaken from all of it, and stopped at a gas/convenient store to grab a coffee, and a 'Kind' Bar, or something of the ilk, with nuts, and fruit, and oats, etc. I always thought that 'that' was the beginning of what went wrong that day with my tummy. Add to that, that I had recently been following a 'Low-Fat' diet, AND eating 2 Brazil Nuts a day to add Selenium to my diet. Phew!!! That was a mouthful! And like you, I had favorable results with forgoing food except for Jello, and broth, and water, etc. THAT seemed to help sooooo much the 2nd time that I felt something coming on. The ONLY time in my life that I WILLINGLY stopped eating, to hopefully fend an episode off, and it worked. I went 6 straight days, probably over-kill, but it worked! I must add that my body 'rejected' the antibiotics that would help the Diverticulitis. I broke out in hives, and my breathing became shallow, so, Not Eating is my 'only' recourse! Good video. Thanks, and good luck to us all!!!

The pain is indescribable. I have been having flare ups for decades but unfortunately it has only been diagnosed in the last two month. I had a flare up and it was diagnosed as acid reflux. It sort of helped but I have been suffering a flare up for the last three months off and on. It’s driving me to distraction, I can’t lie down, or sit for long, certainly not eating ( not eaten properly for weeks) and I’ve lost over 2st Can’t sleep and it usually get worse at bed time so I spend all night in the dark trying to get into a comfortable position. Update - I got so much worse a few weeks later and eventually had to call an ambulance. It turned out I had a gall stones that were aggravating my IBS and Diverticulitis. However on the way to hospital my GB ruptured - the pain I was experiencing was nothing compared to this. Still on the good side - all sorted now after removal of the offending GB

  • @spritzpistol
    @spritzpistol 18 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

The trouble it the gut and brain work in tandem, so stress is manifested in the brain, which needs to calm, so the gut gives the brain what it needs…..in a more complicated way than just that of course, but diets can affect how this exchange is carried out. (If you don’t have a gallbladder you need to eat (saturated) fats, in small quantities. Keep a food dairy and if something troubles you, remove it from your diet (how ever you love it, it’s got to go whilst you heal the gut). My Achilles heel is carbs, usually bread, which I don’t have often, but when I do know I’ve had it as my body screams at me and my intestines go on strike or overdrive. (I don’t eat pasta or rice anyway). Antibiotics are awful, and kill the good (as well as the bad) bacteria, so any natural alternatives are better, but it’s preventing rather than curing. Tinctures are good to help sooth the liver, kidneys and fermented foods help with dosing good bacteria after an AB treatment. I find 3 -6 types of fruit per day, 6-9 vegs (on cooked meals days which we have 4 -5 times a week, with a protein, salads (with fruit are amazing), plus Brie and other soft cheeses sooth the intestinal tract, and fish 2 times a week, plus a seafood lunch with salad twice a week, honey and limited caffeine, all help. Water (with or without lemon) is the best in any flare up days as it washes the tract, and cleanses it. Then gentle introduction of bland foods. Yogurt with live cultures and kefir are also useful. Keep away from any refined sugars, or food containing them and massage your stomach and intestinal area with lemon balm. All these can help keep IBS, diverticulitis, bloating and even crohn’s quiet. Home grown produce is best as it doesn’t contain any nasty chemicals and grass fed proteins…. But If you cant afford much, lamb is a sure thing as most sheep graze and don’t have any additional feed in their diet.

Having a flare up now. Had my first like 11 years ago. I was obese back then. Was around 26 years old. Had to stay in the hospital for three days on IV antibiotics then after it cleared up I had a colonoscopy. It was the worst. It felt like I was having a knife twisted in my pelvis constantly. That's when I went to the ER finally. CT scan showed an infection. As of last night I started having those pains but not nearly as bad, today I'm fatigued very bloated and sort of constipated. The pain isn't really there, I just feel really off and am going to go all clear liquids for a day or two before trying to go on soft foods. I lost over 100 lbs after my first attack and changed my life and diet. These days I eat clean stay lean and exercise. I'm 38 now. I still get flare ups though. Although one constant in my life is stress so maybe that's what causes it. I had a flare last year too. 😔

It is always a combination of stress, drinking less water than I should, not eating right and not focusing on my health that starts a flare-up for me. Even though it is uncomfortable, I massage the area where it is hurting following the direction of digestion with my hand. I drink lots of water and do yoga for digestion. Liquid or very bland diet if I can handle it. I also listen to healing music (528hz) which has been shown to reduce anxiety - a major issue for me. I have always been a healthful eater. I usually fluctuate between vegetarian and pescatarian diets but also had my gall bladder out about 13 years ago. Never had an issue with diverticulitis/osis before that surgery, so have always wondered. It is an awfully painful situation to be in and it really puts the brakes on life at times.

Thank you for your video. I suffer with the exact same issues. I have diverticulitis and the doctors want to remove my gallbladder as well. I was only diagnosed a month ago and so I am relatively new at this. However, I suffered from pain on my left side for years, never knowing what it was. The pain was debilitating as I’m sure you know. I was in the hospital last month when I was finally diagnosed with diverticulitis. I understand that I have to be on a clear liquid diet for at least two days when I have a flare up. Then I can go to a low fiber diet. After some time I can move to a high fiber diet. My problem is that I always try to rush everything so that I can hurry up and get to the high-fiber diet. What I am doing is not working. I am in pain frequently. Your shake and the oil of oregano sound very interesting. I would love to try it. Can you please give me the recipe for the shake? I saw what is considered the best dr in my area and he explained when diagnosed under the age of 40 it’s a total different diagnoses and majority of people do rupture. If you have any pain or unusual abdominal pain or constipation go right to the er. I almost died and was told I might not make it through the surgery. I was 37. Had a colostomy bag for 5 months.

I was at begin stages of organ failure and sepsis. The doctors had my family prepare for me not making it through the surgery. Colostomy for 4 months, several other surgeries followed as well adhesions that now bind all of my abdominal organs like glue. This has led to so many other problems. If you have pain that you’ve never had before, go to er right away!

Thankyou for this Its good to have advice froma Christian. . My flare ups seem to get less bad . Had advice on how to treat it at the time . Avoid some foods altogether. Sadly I can't eat cruciferous veg , which I love . But they cause so much wind , distension . I take capsules for that , called windeeze
I do the liquid diet, in a flare up , take lots of vitamins and minerals for various problems, like arthritis and the good bacteria, kefir etc , . I use polyol sweeteners . I'm beginning to think too much of that causes problems. So I avoid them for a while .I found out also that sorbitol can be bad . Trouble is its present in apples and other fruit !
Mainly I follow Dr. Gundrys diet and avoid ibs triggers. Also keto diet and intermittent fasting . That has been a game changer , none of the usual grains , I make a lot of my own bread etc with sorghum / Millet , coconut flour etc . I can eat some gluten free bread from Waitrose in Britain, its made with rice and potato flour ( though ordinary white rice and potatoes are off the diet ) I think maize is a big no no for me. I love oats but no longer eat them . If anyone wants more information I'm happy to give it . But I recommend Dr. Gundrys list of good foods and bad foods . Theze are lots of his videos, but they are a lot to take in , so that list is a good introduction.
The problem is that I crave sweet things !
    God bless you . . K

What symptoms did you all get that made you think you had diverticulosis or diverticulitis ? I read pain in your stomach. How severe if rated from 0-10? What were your early symptoms? I read blood in stool, fever, back pain.
They say constipation causes this due to straining when trying to pass a bowel. Is this what you were told when diagnosed?
What is the amounts for the apple cider vinegar with water?
Has anyone watched Dr. Berry, Dr. Baker, and Dr. Chaffee for the carnivore diet and healing diverticulitis?
They are saying too much fiber is causing it due to making your colon work harder with very heavy thick bowels -to pass the plant parts, since none of them are absorbed in the small intestines. Meat is absorbed more and animal fats as well in small intestines so large intestines aren’t working hard at all. But plants have anti nutrients. Why would doctors tell people to go low fiber or no fiber to heal the colon when having these episodes from diverticulitis? It does make sense it could be caused by plant foods, processed or whole, since plant parts are turned into sugars and have natural toxins to be prevented from being eaten.
I also think eating too fast and not chewing food well can cause constipation and make it harder for your body to move food along. Then you start pushing and straining to move things along causing pressure then diverticulitis.

I had pain on my left side. ACV depends on the person. 1tsp-1tbsp.
I disagree with the too much fiber. Fiber is what cleaning your bowels out. If you don’t drink enough water that can be an issue because it bulls up. Healthy bowels should be smooth and easy to pass.
