    Man, I love how you conduct your videos. It really makes me feel as if I'm just hanging out with a friend chatting about and shooting guns.

    Got a Bear Creek Arsenal Grendel 20 inch upper from my wife and kids for Christmas. Did a quick 45 yard zero with Hornady 123 grain custom so I could use it for the last couple weeks of TN gun season in place of my BCA 16 inch 7.62x39 for better reach out range. Impressed with that round. I kept the factory flash hider on it for now. Going to put a thread protector on it and hunt straight out. Suspect it will shoot a little different like that. Thanks for your 6.5 videos. Just subscribed. God bless you too.

      Your wife and kids are truly wonderful!...Yes for a year or so I hunted with just a thread protector and accuracy improved, but more importantly there was no longer any carbon build up on the crown. The newer brakes allowed and easy on and off to keep the crown clean. Thanks for watching.

    I didn't realise how small the Grendel case is compared to the Creedmoor ... Interesting video Dave 👍

    Dave. Thanks always a good video. Nice shooting. I thought I could see the muzzle brake making a difference in the video. Thanks for sharing and take care.

    Good testing my friend. I never really liked the extra noise of a muzzle break but they sure work. Very nice rifles, I'm pretty fond of the Grendel cartridge, I tried it once and was very impressed. Your background in that video is absolutely beautiful. 👍

      Rick, the recoil reduction benefit to stay on target for a fast follow-up shot especially for a gas gun is worth the noise trade off. Thanks my East Texan Friend for commenting and watching.

      @cwlongshot Yeap, the recoil without a brake is moot. But it sure is fun to watch your bullet hit the target through the scope through reduced muzzle flip. I Enjoy your Friday night get together with the Long Beards, Georgia good ole Boys. Thanks for the invite.

    Good stuff man, been thinking about a brake on my creedmoor too 🤔 good redemption at the end there haha sometimes it’s just one of those days huh!

    Good video. I haven't noticed any difference in group size running a brake on my 6.5 creedmoor. I have an SJC brake and it does reduce recoil well. I did notice my group size opening up running a brake on my .5.56 Ar-15 so I switched back to a flash suppressor and my groups tightened back up. I guess it's always good to test.

      Thanks Andy., This was not an adequate test, because of shooter error on the first two Creedmoor groups. But hopefully it will help other folks not to quit testing just because of a poor shooting day or not the correct ammo combination. P.S. I still have 3 videos "Under Review." 2 -3 weeks out now.

      @@davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho8009 Wow. I only had a problem with 1 video not getting appeal reviewed within 2 weeks. That video was 8 months and I lost.

    Interesting. I put an MDT brake on my 6.5 Creed, and it's got great accuracy....I love it. Just reduces the recoil enough for me to see my impacts thru the scope at longer distances.

      Yes, the accuracy today with this reload was spotty,( targets show shooter error) however the accuracy with the brake on the 140gn class bullets, is good enough for me. Thanks for your comment.

    Outstanding! A short question now, does the 6.5 Grendel use the same bolt carrier group as the 7.62x39 round? Is the Grendel built on the ComBloc case? Do you have a video comparison of the Grendel and the AK round?

    • @davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho8009
      @davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho8009  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No they are not the same. The Grendel has a deeper bolt recess especially for the type II newer Grendels. No I do not own an AK.

    Dave I asked you a few weeks ago about the West Point your wife picked up for you and the oohunt. I sure appreciate you getting back with me and you mentioned that you liked the oohunt that you have bought 4 of them and I was going to order me one until I found out that they only have a 50 to infinity parallax which I’m scoping a 22 lr for long range so I need it to go at least 15. I cant find anything about the West Point and was wondering if it was clear out to 24 magnification and if the edges were clear like you described on the oohunt. Appreciate any info

    • @davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho8009
      @davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho8009  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      James, the WestHunter parallax starts at 50 yds also. And the scope view is not as wide but just as clear as the Ohhunt. I know from sighting the scopes in at 25 yards that the parallax setting of 50 is a non issue. I think you know that at close range the parallax deviation is very minimal. Parallax is more crucial at the higher power magnification beyond 100 yards.

    Sorry Dave, I do have one more question. I do go plinking with a brother and his grown son, have you used or have an opinion on the 'Linear Compensators' such as the overpriced (for my budget) Mill's Device for blowing the noise and debris forward rather than right into their ears?

    • @davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho8009
      @davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho8009  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No I do not have any experience with just the "Linear compensator" But my brakes do have a compensator component to the top of the brake. My strong suggestion is to invest in electronic ear protection. They allow you to carry on a conversation and cancel out the loud report of rifle fire.
